Robert Greene stands out in the crowd for a reason. His research and work into the books are based on what he has studied. I have started reading some books that are over 100 years old. They were much more forward about topics we avoid today. What we avoid does not go away. It shows up somewhere different, usually much less directly and very unpleasantly. law 48 is extremely useful.

Just cause you can't eradicate evil, Doesn't mean you gotta join them.... Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. I hope this helps whoever reads it. These are Action Steps: I followed this for 30 days. My goal was to change my self image and it worked. This is what I did. 1. Write out a statement of your Short Term Goal AND your Chief Aim/Main Goal... on a "goal card" or paper. 2. Write it out 50 times a day for 30 days preferably around the same time each day. After the 30 days, you go back and write it out ONCE a day. This is your compass in life. 3. Set your phone alarm to go off every 3 hours (to disrupt your daily routine) and when it goes off write down your statement and then close your eyes and see yourself with your goal for 2 mins. 4. Record your statement in your voice on a voice recorder on your phone, and play it back to yourself on loop while you sleep and as often as you can daily, example... in the shower or when you are using the rest room. 5. Find an accountability partner. If you cannot find someone, then you MUST write out your statement DAILY. By doing this you make yourself accountable to YOURSELF. 6. Find a community or FB group/group chat, etc and from that community form a Mastermind with one or two people who have studied from REAL Mentors and are giving VALUE. There is a "Law of Giving" and many people are using it. Andrew Carnegie told Napoleon Hill this back in the early 1900s. Its a LAW and it works. Its what I am doing with this post. 7. Auto-Suggest (Think and Grow Rich Chapter 4) to yourself in front of the mirror in the bathroom at least twice a day. Look directly INTO your eyes OR one eye and recite your WRITTEN statement. Then splash cold water on your face. This sudden shock seals the thought into the subconscious due to emotional and physical shock from the cold water. 8. Write out ten "I AM" statements a day. example. I AM happy, I AM more confident. Use the word MORE; implying you already have it, but want more. You trick the brain. 9. Write out 5 things you HAVE that you are grateful for and 5 things that you are grateful for that are coming to you. Mix up the list one after the other. 10. When in public tell people you see that you love them in your mind. Simply say "I LOVE YOU" to them as you pass them, especially when driving, because their subconscious hears and FEELS the intention. Say it to about 10 to 15 people daily. This increases your Good Karma. I hope this helps at least two people. It might seem like a lot. But it took me less than two weeks to incorporate the list into my life and 32 days later I started getting massive results. Thank you for reading.

I've never felt envy in a negative way. Like when I see someone driving a Ferrari I think, "damn, I want that car," and then admire the car and look at the person driving with a well done expression like telling them to enjoy on my behalf. I don't get people that are hateful towards others because of their achievements or possessions. Actions are much more important imo
@spicy-peach3 ай бұрын
I am a health and life coach and I, personally, like to think of envy as someone wanting what you have directly as you have it whereas jealousy is someone wanting what you have, indirectly, in their own lives. EX: A woman sees a man and woman happy together. Kissing, holding hands in public, he tucks her hair behind her ear, no care who's watching. This woman looking on suddenly feels that feeling of envy in her stomach. Her attention is now focused on the man and she thinks to herself about how maybe if she has that specific man, he will do these things with her and she will also have that kind of love. HOWEVER, if that were jealousy, she would be both jealous and admiring what she sees. A healthy and happy couple - and may think to herself, "I want what they have." And will now start looking for someone who matches those qualities RATHER than going straight for the "source". Envy is seeing what someone has and wanting it for yourself even if that means taking it from another (the lack of admiration/respect). Jealousy is wanting what someone has as your own, for yourself, while admiring/appreciating that they have it for them. Jealousy is healthy and shows you care about the evolution and upgrading of yourself and others - envy is unhealthy and shows you are unbalanced in your own mind/heart/finances/life/etc.

Psychologically to say "life is short" creates a consciousness and an expectation of a short life. Rather say "I will enjoy long life" and you will extend your stay here. What you believe and say, you will receive. Check all the past motivational speakers who enjoyed repeating the "life is short" phase if they lived to old age. Thanks

@@Scott-got-caughtSo this is what I say and bear witness to in the Lord, that you should no longer go on walking just as the nations also walk,+ in the futility of their minds.+ 18 They are in darkness mentally and alienated from the life that belongs to God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the insensitivity of their hearts. 19 Having gone past all moral sense, they gave themselves over to brazen conduct+ to practice every sort of uncleanness with greediness.+ 20 But you did not learn the Christ to be like this, 21 if, indeed, you heard him and were taught by means of him, just as truth is in Jesus. 22 You were taught to put away the old personality+ that conforms to your former course of conduct and that is being corrupted according to its deceptive desires.+ 23 And you should continue to be made new in your dominant mental attitude,+ 24 and should put on the new personality+ that was created according to God’s will in true righteousness and loyalty. 25 Therefore, now that you have put away deceit, each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,+ because we are members belonging to one another.+ 26 Be wrathful, but do not sin;+ do not let the sun set while you are still angry;+ 27 do not give the Devil an opportunity.+ 28 Let the one who steals steal no more;+ rather, let him do hard work, doing good work with his hands,+ so that he may have something to share with someone in need.+ 29 Let a rotten word not come out of your mouth,+ but only what is good for building up as the need may be, to impart what is beneficial to the hearers.+ 30 Also, do not be grieving God’s holy spirit,+ with which you have been sealed+ for a day of releasing by ransom.+ 31 Put away from yourselves every kind of malicious bitterness,+ anger, wrath, screaming, and abusive speech,+ as well as everything injurious.+ 32 But become kind to one another, tenderly compassionate,+ freely forgiving one another just as God also by Christ freely forgave you.+

I was surprised about how much of this you can really figure out on your own with just a little bit of rational honest reflection. I was constantly finding myself thinking “hey I came up with something similar” and then try to deny the reality of it again lol. Although that first half had a few in their that never even crossed my mind and some I’m pretty skeptical about. The envy one surprised me because I didn’t see any of the examples as someone being envious but you convinced me in the end. Personally idk about this business about trying to look for peoples true nature, I find no one has a true nature that should seen by others. It’s better to judge others on how the choose to act and not little signs that could mean a million things. To me a true judge of good character is in one’s ability to discipline themselves to NOT act on their nature and to behave as someone you can respect. Though I am pretty cynical towards the nature of humans, beings that can hold their child so tenderly and lovingly with the same hands that cut down an entire family in a neighboring village.

You didn't change the situation; you changed the perspective you had of your situation. The situation is still there. Two people have a crash. One is angry about their car being totaled. The other is grateful that he still alive. If the person that is angry in the wrong? What if the person that was grateful to still alive was the one that caused the accident and has no insurance. Would you still believe the person that is angry is in the wrong? Perspectives do not change reality. It just changes YOUR PERCEPTION of reality.

Great summary!.. Many of these concepts are observable, relatable and revealing (such as comparing to others, envy, "shadow" [per Jung's archetype]. masks, narcissism, empathy, irrationality and group think). A few of these are not as obvious (such as "always" avoiding pain or change). The statement that humans automatically lose passion and power after age 60 is very subjective and limited.

People have different sides because they are highly complex and social animals. You are not wearing a mask nor role-playing, you are simply showing that side of you that is appropriate for the social situation you are currently engaged in -- for example, at work, on a date, with your best friend, with your family, or alone. There is not necessarily anything fake about this, nor are you necessarily hiding your real self. In fact, there is no real self independent of the various sides of your personality.

I would concur with Most of your videos but the Idea that we are heading towards a society that's moving away from logical thought, study and ultimately discovery and instead moving more towards psychological inquiry is hard for me to wrap my head around. Two reasons being. We can explain the psychologically inquiry and how our own minds essentially use tricks to alter reality to benefit ourselves and make it easier for us to navigate the world we live in. And secondly I don't believe it's possible for anyone to know how much or what we don't know, however I may be just as biased as you. LOL

The problem with always saying what you think or feel is that your thoughts are not always consistent and your feelings often change. It's not necessarily that you are hiding your real self, so much as it is that you want to be rational in your relationships and interactions with others. If you always say everything you think and feel at the time you are thinking and feeling it, you will appear to be an irrational, moody, emotional, and rude sort of person who lacks self-control and social intelligence, and, yes, this will make your relationships and interactions with other people extremely difficult. So, you shouldn't think that just because you are not saying now exactly how you feel that you are hiding your true self. The true you, in most cases, is probably a thoughtful, respectful, and reflective person who values his/her relationships and interactions with your fellow human beings. This whole idea of hiding our real selves is overplayed here.

Excellent presentation. I would only like to suggest a detail.. in case of having kids, the 15 years to "do want to want" within 30 may would be drastically reduced, let say to 2 or 3 years maybe. 😮

Envious people can actually make you seem better or of higher status. Most people can tell when someone is being envious, and their envy only makes you appear better in the eyes of the neutral people. After all, if some people are envious of you, then you must be better for some reason than the people who are envious of you. Envy directed at you can actually work in your favor.
