4:31 Last season, in the last episode we saw Zuko, right before Korra reveals that she spoke to Iroh, Zuko is getting ready to leave Zao Fu on his dragon. He says if Zaheer is going after world leaders he needs to protect his daughter. Then Korra refers to her as the Fire Lord. Also, any time someone referred to Zuko last season it was as Lord Zuko, not Fire Lord Zuko.

I mean come on now I'm giving Raiko the benefit of the doubt in season 2. Why would you send your nations sons and daughters to die in a frozen tundra in order to meddle in another nations internal affairs that had nothing to do with your nation at that point. Its not like anyone predicted (not even the avatar btw) that he was going to unleash a kaiju as that happened way later in the season. You must be American, only an American can think such a military intervention with the limited information they had is a good idea despite the last 25 years in this fucked up timeline we currently live in telling us otherwise. It was the only instance in the series where I thought Raiko was being completely reasonable.

Izumi has been the Firelord throughout the entire series. The implication is that Zuko served as Firelord for a long reign and then stepped down to allow Izumi to take over. In Book 3, Zuko tells Korra, "If it's true that the Red Lotus is targeting the nations leaders, I need to protect my daughter." Korra responds with, "I understand. You HAVE to keep the Firelord safe." Love ur reactions. Great Work!

Zuko mentions Fire Lord Izumi previously. When Korra went to save the Northern Air Temple, Zuko was returning home to protect her (you may have been talking over Korra and Zuko's conversation a bit). Interesting that keeping Zaheer alive seems to have paid off, at least for Korra, as she was able get some help from him.

I love this episode. Korra's recovery is one of the most compelling elements to the series for me. It's true that she can never forget what happened to her but she can move past it. As far as the fire nation goes, Zuko was at Kuvira's coronation. He just seems to have stepped down from the fire lord position. As for Korra, I think her voice changed a bit through the time jump. She doesn't sound nearly as energetic as she used to be given everything she's gone through plus being 3 years older.

At first glance, everyone makes the mistake that Zaheer intercepted Korra in the spirit World; but it's trickier than that. Korra actually never made it to the Spirit World and Zaheer in only in her head. The Proof is the fact that he Airbended ate her and she Firebended back. That's NOT possible in the spirit World when using the method Korra did. Her body isn't there so her Bending shouldn't be either. But they BOTH bended elements so that's Proof that she's somewhere in her own head .

Zuko has actually been retired for years. Back in Book 2 General Iroh mentioned that Korra could get help from his grandfather and his mother the Fire Lord. I mean, do you really think the sitting Fire Lord could just zip across the world willy nilly?

Korra confronting her biggest fear in Zaheer basically.. the man who almost killed her legitimately, and him helping her resolve her trauma is pretty powerful honestly. Zaheer is many things, but he would never allow someone like Kuvira reign over anyone, as he was the anthesis to her. Makes a lot of sense he'd want to help Korra in the end.

Just to clarify, because it seems you made the assumption. Zuko was NOT the Fire Lord in this series. He never was. He even mentions the Fire Lord in Last season when talking about checking Ming Hua's (the tentacle Waterbender) Prison.

Maple seems to be taking an interest in writing. I've got an idea related to story telling with geek work written all over it. Maybe I'll get to looking into it myself, but I'm not opposed to drafting on other people's interests to get answers. The thought I had has to do with Kurt Vonnegut's story graphs or "shapes of stories". He uses them to characterize different features of a story over it's duration. What I'm curious about are the statistics of, and relationships between different literary devices. My hope is to discover different rhythms and combinations that work well together, a little like music. Data that could show different popular ways to weave foreshadowing with tensions, revelations, what sort of pacing is impacted by layers of plot, how often do writers "meanwhile back on the farm", etc. I kinda figure the raw literary data set is out there. Google presumably has a bigger library than their licensed digital distribution set, and general language models are getting pretty impressive, so the ability to "Moneyball" the entirety of recorded literature might not be far off. It could make for some interesting data.

​@patrickcromwell7554 Ostensibly the Avatar is merely supposed to be the bridge between the worlds. But in actuality the Avatar is pretty much treated as the Police of the world. I mean look how the press and politicians were treating Korra back when she first appeared in Republic City. And how General Fong treated Aang when they met. There's a difference between the Avatar's given duties and how people perceive the Avatar. Tenzin even reminded her of this at the beginning of Book 3. That the Avatar cannot fix everything. That has been at the crux of this whole show. The Avatar before was spoken of by many people with almost godlike reverence. But as times have changed and advanced people's views about the Avatar, as well as the Avatar's place in the world, have changed. Korra is in a unique situation. Technology and information have advanced to a degree that the mystery of the Avatar is not so out of reach for many people. That and the rise of other technology to rival the power of benders and the Avatar and people's views of her have shifted. And lest we forget, Korra is a bending prodigy. People genuinely felt she could take down most enemies. And she has shown incredible skill in the past.

NOT ONE SINGLE BENDER showed Korra any fear or hesitation before openly challenging and mocking her. Hell even the Wolf Bats mocked her openly, and that's a sports team. In Fact ALL the Pro Bending teams never showed her and kind of fear that she she was unstoppable. I'm confused, though. Were the examples I already gave too difficult for you to understand??
