Picked it up Friday, playing an hour here and there. Fun so far. My biggest gripe is that they didn't permanently map the Roc's Feather to a button like they did with the Pegasus Boots. It's use so often that I de facto only have one item slot.
@ryuail4 жыл бұрын
Huh... here I was bemoaning the placement of the boots as well, but that was because I wanted it on the item buttons to sell the item combination aspect more. But I had decided having it placed on a shoulder button made more sense from an ergonomic point of view. Guess that's not exactly the case.

Im not sure why they're complaining about the boots ONLY being on L button. ITS ALSO ON LZ?! same with shield on R AND RZ.

@OMDoran4 жыл бұрын
Yeah well that require Alanah to actually proof read her shit and put a little effort in
@ogbobbyjohnson35024 жыл бұрын
Here how about I correct it for you .... “it has a decent length and challenge given how short the actual game is” there you go. Now to analysis the quote, since you didn’t really understand. Since Zelda games typically have tedious dungeons , one would assume , that the run time of said dungeons vary from player to player. Is it wrong to assume that there are speed runners who play Zelda games and ease through dungeons ? Or maybe people have experience with past Zelda games that make their run time of a dungeon more faster ? To the average player the tedious dungeons might take more time when in reality these dungeons are not that hard. So to say that the games length is decent and challenging was to describe her experience rather than the whole fan base. I’m assuming there are players who breeze thought these games such as hardcore Zelda fans which would insinuate that it’s shorter than it really is, if you take away the tediousness in dungeons.
@ogbobbyjohnson35024 жыл бұрын
So I assume you’re an English wizard , Mr. Lazy pixel? I think the run time was very long for this review , everything that was said covered the basics of this game. It’s a carefully crafted remaster. Trying to ignore nostalgia and see the game for what it is they over reviewed it. Since the run time was so long the points they cover were dragged on too long or just nit picks. When you go into that territory restating problems or including more nit picks it messes up your writing. It’s fairly evident that whenever someone focuses on one topic for too long , problems start to occur , or it’s just yada yada. Everyone’s a victim to this. You can clearly see that because they bring up the ZL button twice.

You can't really say a game is easy and still convey that it's worth your time to play, which is clearly how they felt, which is their job to convey to you. People will hang on that word and run with it. They'll hear "Easy" close the video, and never think about the game again even if they would have enjoyed it otherwise
@DrGamelove4 жыл бұрын
Dakota Brown well, I still enjoyed it.

Dakota Brown I wrote that while I was still in the middle of watching. She did say the bosses were easy later. I get your point but I don’t think it’s the job of the reviewer not to use any words that might turn people off if the description is accurate. If anyone hears one word and writes it off it makes me think they don’t understand how criticism works. I also feel like Zelda fans aren’t going to care what anyone says because, it’s Zelda, it sells itself.

Those framerate drops were due to how they load textures for areas. Some places, like the overworld use large archives which take long amounts of time to open everytime it needs to load relevant textures. So they could easily avoided this by having multiple small archives instead of few large ones

My first Zelda was BOTW, which instantly became my favourite game ever, and the only other Zelda I played before this Link's Awakening was the first NES Zelda on Switch. I love this remake of Link's Awakening. I couldn't help but smile every time I started playing it. I will probably be replaying it soon because it's so delightful and playing it was a perfect way to spend my one week of holidays. Even when I didn't know what to do next, or was lost in a dungeon, I could never be frustrated because everything is so adorable. I hope they make more remakes like this because I never got a chance to play these games and I would love to now that I have Switch

Played all the way through Never had a problem with accidentally hitting the pegasus boots dash button I did have frame rate drops Everytime I entered a new area but wasn't terrible For me the biggest problem was the dungeon running and being stuck on something and then remembering to look at the walls to blow them up. Literally one wall was obstructed by a candle holder in a dungeon and that took me a little over an hour just to find. Other than that fun game Visual is nuts. As someone who was not a big fan of the original Link's Awakening on the gameboy, I can easily say I had a great time with this game. This is hands down the best version of Link's Awakening. It fixes & improves ALOT of gameplay issues that the original gameboy game had such as the limited item inventory, adding more warp points in the overworld & getting rid of those obnoxious text boxes that pops up every single time you touch a boulder/crystal. It's not perfect by any means, it does have its flaws, (mainly the framerate issue) but other than that, I did had a really great time with this game & the good of this game really outweighs the bad. However as much as I really enjoyed the game, even I gotta admit this game is definitely not worth 60 bucks considering how ridiculously short it is, even when going for a 100% playthrough.

@darklucida4 жыл бұрын
The price definitely does not feel justified unless you plan on playing it multiple times or are a collector who wants to support the game. I did both regular and hero mode 100% over a course of 15~ hours which means you're pretty much completely done with the game unless you have plans on sharing created stages with friends or want to do challenges of like no heart container runs. Even then, the created stages are very lackluster because you have a limited selection of premade rooms.
@kenrulei094 жыл бұрын
It qualifies the price cause its fully remade if it was a port of the gameboy one sure its over priced but the game was remade with new music and quality of life improvements don't rember when hours a game is = how much it costs cause gameboy cart wasn't cheap either back in the day its also the same length or shorter
