I haven't played this or the first one yet, but if it's half as good as Hollow Knight then I'm sure it's amazing. HK is the best metroidvania I've ever played, and I've played a bunch. I love the genre.

@@MilesWilliams88 Play the first then the 2nd, you will switch your favorite to ori, from the soundtrack to the smooth gameplay it's just a great metroidvania game. It's a triple A indie game with a large budget so it only makes sense.

for the framedrops thing I had 0 performance issues on the steam version, ran 144fps the whole way through :) Specs: 1080Ti, i7 8700K, 32GB 3200mhz

ori 1 only had like 2 or 3 secrets that were hard to get, so i dont imagine ori being too much different. Although, the AM2R guy did some level design in this game and it shows.

Weird that I never got the frames and sound glitches, the only glitches I got was getting out of bounds pretty often, the map takes forever to load and that when ur too fast the screen must think a few secs so it makes ori float a little in the air Also yes amazing game, my #1 favorite game right now. 11/10 stars from me, if you havent got the game yet, I'd really recommend u play it. now

Go grab a cheap xbox one s. This is not coming to switch. That was a one time courtesy from Microsoft. I bought a switch just for zelda and octopath, and a ps4 just for sf5 and ffxiv...

Completed it in one sitting yesterday, the game is 10/10 and I can't recommend it enough!

@@Myu142 nah not to 100% although I did explore almost every area and got most of the life and energy cells. I'd guess I'm around 70% for full completion but I still had a lot of quests to finish, upgrades to find and buy and a few areas I hadn't gone too yet. So 9 hours to complete the story.

I think I died 360 times in the first game. Most of that during the Ginso tree escape sequence. XD

as far as i can tell day one patch fixed the lag issues (played for 6 hours and had no issues) so the release build is way better than the early reviewer one.

Thank God this game released during Spring Break so I could start it the second it released. And, as it turns out, thanks to the Coronavirus for extending my college's Spring Break by a full week so I don't have to worry about my life while I shut myself in to 100% this game.

So its much more like Hollow Knight now. Well it should be a good game then, better then the first one if thats the case because I felt the first one lacked real depth in its mechanics and combat. Like Charms in hollow knight added so much along with the little side characters who you could interact with and help out. So I look forward to playing this even though I never finished the first game.

Played 10 minutes of first one, three hours into 2nd. I may go back to the first but you can tell the 2nd is so much more, and does a good job feeling less linear from what reviews sound.

Am I the only one that hates calling the Ori games Metroidvanias? Totally a platformer in my book. Also thought the sequel lost some of it's magic by cutting down the escape sequences, they are a just a shadow of what they used to be.

These modern metroidvanias are either too linear, plot driven and hand holding (like Stem World Dig and Guacamelee) or too aimless (like Hollow Knight and Dark Souls). I doubt that this one is any different. There are many good metroidvanias, but for me none of them beats Super Metroid.

hollow knight aimless? that's the only metroidvania ive been compelled to play multiple times beside SM because it's so great and can be played so many different ways and there's so much to do. You probably won't like ori 2 then because it's borrowed a lot of elements from HK

@@myztklk3v I'm not saying that I don't like HK, I'm playing it right now and enjoying it. But it's lacking some direction imo. It feels like despite getting upgrades and opening new areas you don't progress and just wandering around. Dark Souls is like that except it's not. In Dark Souls I kinda knew who I am and what to do next. But despite all this and some minor gripes (like monochrome look, pointless map buying etc.) I consider HK the best modern 2d metroidvania I've played so far.

@@MrGlasspider no, Ori 2 took a lot of stuff from HK, Ori 1 came out 2 years before HK. Also Ori 1 isn't really linear, but I only played the definitive edition which allows more back tracking and exploration than the launch version.
