I just read Dan's vlog last night where he let us all know that he and Annalise were no longer together. Everyone was pouring their hearts out to him and what a good dad he is. This is in no way intended to take anything away from him but I burst into tears when in this vlog Stephanie introduced them as Annalisa's children. I am so glad to see that Stephanie and everyone from the Chateau has embraced her and the children and yet hopefully things will work out for the family to be united sometime in the future. Annalise is now a single mother in a country not her own, learning a language other than her mother tongue, no close friends or family to celebrate with. Stephanie & Philip, thank you so very much for the beautiful caring people you are. Much love from a Grandma in Toronto, Canada.

How sweet this was for the kiddos! Philip is such a sweet man! Good guys get such a bad "rap" with the saying, "Good guys finish last." I believe good guys are the BEST! What I love about LaLande is that it attracts people who are beautiful inside - who are such lovely and precious souls. It's a gathering of people who aim to enjoy life, forge connections and make their lives and others better for the interactions between them. Merry Christmas!

Oh my goodness; Sinterklaas at the Chateau actually gets to be celebrated with kiddos this year! Both The Big Adult Ones lol, and the Littles. I wonder how Jack, Thomas, and Clement are getting along! They're the next generation of Chateau Owners after all, and will need to rely on each other just like their parents do😊.

We had Krampus Nact along with Sinta Klaus’ visit. We were gifted with a chocolate letter, a book, and salted liquorice. Lovely traditions!

What beautiful children. 😍 I do remember St. Nicholas day one year in the German orphanage when I was about 3 or 4 years old. They gave us a feast, and we had to go up in front of a man dressed as Nich, and he had a huge book he supposedly had our name in with whether we had been good or bad. I don't remember the food, I'm sure we had saurcrout, lol, and I got a little motorcycle toy. Lots of chocolate, though.

Love that Philip did Sinter Klaas for the children. I used to love that day. We would leave hay and carrots in our shoes for his horse. There would be a terrific banging on the door, startling us half to death, and one of his Piets would throw pepernoten into the room. We would all be too much in a hurry to gather as many of them as we could to ever get a glimpse of Sinter Klaas and his horse. Sooo exciting!

I grew up in Wisconsin where there is a large German population and the tradition of St. Nick's Day is still celebrated there. We would hang stockings by the fire on the night of the 5th and find them filled with a few treats the next morning as an incentive to be good through the rest of the month until Santa came back. I love the old tradition, so I brought it with me to Washington state and celebrate it with my kids (who are now all grown ups!) with hopes that it will someday be carried on to the next generation.
