I feel like the simulation weighed the lego bricks a wee too much, seem sluggish. It's a fucking beautiful display of simulation though! Excited to see what'll come next!

You mean the calculation itself or the model preparation? The model preparation was the most time consuming part, especially the FE meshing of the bricks. However, once we had each type of brick available as a FE mesh, the assembly was highly automized. It exploits the LEGO LDRAW files to obtain position and location of an individual brick. From that we include and transformed the FE-mesh bricks to their desired location. Unfortunately, I don't know specific timings available as the process was split among different people, mostely done next their everyday job. Finally, the simulation model consists of approx. 46 mio. elements and completed after approx. 50 h on 192 CPU.

Is was a couple of man months that went into this project. In total maybe one year FTE. We never counted the hours since it was more a fun project for all involved engineers.
