Pin holes are holding us back at this point. I don't remember this "heat" about pin holes when the Lighthouse came out, and that is the exact same sub-theme and baseplate style as the Botanical Garden. They messed up the Bugle pin holes and have been overcorrecting ever since with the 3 hole connection. No pin holes is a good thing. I'll probably add a street curb to the Garden, extend the path in front, and throw it in the city. Gunna look fantastic.

100% agree, really did learn stuff from this video! Im usually a pro modular guy, but this really changed me! Keep up the great content, its very fun to listen to when your tired or working on something; in a sense its a podcast about lego

Thanks that means a lot! We love the discussions. Also, I think your custom dragons rising sets were super creative! Hopefully the next DR wave is cool.

The botanical garden is perfect alone in the middle of two roads and than two corner building, but I think that the yearly modular building NEEDS to have the pins (which I’ve never used) and the sidewalk
@christhestampeder2 ай бұрын
I use the pin connectors, but that's not my issue with the botanical garden set. For me it's the lack of a sidewalk. If this had any attempt at a sidewalk that looked cohesive with the rest of my street, I'd jump on this, pin connectors or not. But with two other modular buildings I want coming before the end of the year I have to make some choices, and I'm not going to choose a set as expensive as the botanical garden is when I then have to dump a bunch more cash into it to buy the bricks to make it fit in with everything else.

I do agree, the botanical garden doesn’t feel like it should be a Modular. But in the sense of Ninjago and Marvel, it makes more sense and feels more grand and impressive.

Very true. The Marvel modulars have been the highlights of the theme for the past four years!

I don’t think LEGO should feel constrained by a few vocal people who assume that a 32x32 baseplate is synonymous with the 'Modular Building Collection.' Frankly, Mathoozala's 'satisfing feeling of sticking his pin' sounds like the only valid argument in favor of universal modularity so far. In the official reveal for the Botanical Garden, the designers explicitly encouraged fans to expand the garden around the greenhouse, and the little GWP was an invitation to do just that. Personally, I’ve never seen a botanical garden cramped between two flat building sides within a city block anyway! That would be like mutilating the Temple of Airjitzu into a 32x32 layout… Ok! I’ll stop here! [Archaludon. On a baseplate.] P.S.: 'Physically liked it.'

Great discussion, I agree! I think for AFOLs the biggest thing with “Modulars” is probably convenience, with sets being able to be swapped in and out of a display space more easily. But it really is pretty limiting in terms of creativity sometimes. Thanks for being a REAL ONE always!! 🎉

I don't want everything to be modular. Things can be made to fit into the modular system if people want it to. The X-Mansion is no where near other buildings. Using the same base plates limits creativity. Someone could make a lovely sidewalk and front of the gardens to fit in their city if they want to. Lego should make an End of Sidewalk sign or tile to put on the sidewalk.
@sakugabuilds2 ай бұрын
That’s 100% true. I see some people bringing up the argument: “some of us don’t like to modify our Lego sets”. And I don’t either but I still don’t think it’s worth complaining about it not having a sidewalk
