My grandmother loved Laurence Welk and I spent many a Saturday evening watching this show with her. The Lennon Sisters were my favorite part. They had beautiful harmony due to the fact that they were related. I have heard wonderful harmonies from diversed people but it just isn't quite the same thing as when its done by siblings. That kind of harmony is in a league of it's own.

The girls do a great job but it seems an odd choice of material for kids to sing. Maybe it was because "Unchained Melody" was a popular song on the radio about that time. The song came from a B-movie called "Unchained." It's about life in a prison.

The girls were very young when the did this. Even so it's miles ahead of the dreadful Righteous Brothers version with it's echo chambers, and phony soul music type accents (bet they didn't speak that way at home) presenting the melody simply and without gimmicks is still a good approach. I don't think the girls recorded this (every song they did on the show did not always have a record release) Remember folks, the toughest thing to do is the least tricky and the least gimmicky !
@Fool3SufferingFools Жыл бұрын
Yeah, if you only ever heard the Righteous Brothers’ version, you wouldn’t know the melody of the song at all because it takes a back seat to all their vocal noodling.

Definition of lady...polite dignified woman: a woman who behaves very politely and with dignity. You're right...social graces are no longer taught by parents or schools. Definition of gentleman...polite and cultured man: a cultured man who behaves with courtesy and thoughtfulness. Same applies for how boys are being raised. We must be careful not to confuse strength and independence with the inability to be a lady. You can be a female soldier carrying a rifle in fatigues and still be a lady.
