The Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition is to DIE FOR! | REVIEW

There are cars that sound good, there are cars that sound epic, and then there's the Lexus LFA! This particular car is one of just 50 Nurburgring Editions of the LFA and my goodness is it to die for. Did Lexus get it right when they made this!?
With a 4.8l naturally aspirated V10 up front and the 570PS going to the rear wheels, it's 10PS more and 5kg lighter than the 'standard' Lexus LFA. Perhaps held back by some quirky technology and not having the fastest gearbox in the world, but quickly all is forgiven when the revs start to rise and a heavenly sound fills the cabin. It's hard to imagine that there could be a better sounding car on the roads and a huge thanks goes to @lathouras_p for the opportunity to take his special car out for a drive. I think this car in 50 years will be one of the most desired "classics" in the world from the last of the naturally aspirated era. No one is going to want a hybrid from this era because it will be dated technology. This is pure and will always be desired.

As a collector and a steward of collections I will shed some light on what becomes collectible. Besides performance and rarity there are many more variables. I won't divulge my full formula, however one of the things that will prevent LFA being a future classic is longevity of its reliability. Will this be easily to maintain and enjoy in 20 years? Will you be able to just jump into a 30 year old LFA and drive it? How many shops will be able to service it. Will the parts be readily available? All the modern super cars that are heavily electronically over-manufactured will hit its depression bottom and stay there.

The LFA was a crucial turning point in Lexus history, an important step in their evolution. Before then,everyone knew that Lexus produced dependable,long-lived,if boring luxury vehicles. Sure,they technically rivaled the German automakers and were as dependable as Swiss timepieces but they weren't anything to write home about, either. The LFA changed the game. The car was well-crafted and brilliantly engineered, that was a given,but it also had something that previously was lacking in her predecessors--muscle,presence and a bit of swagger, enough to rival the mighty Godzilla himself. Example:the digital rev counter was revolutionary for its time but it was also deemed necessary--the traditional analog tachometer simply couldn't keep up with how high the car's V-10 revved everytime she left her European competitors in the dust. And yet,the LFA was so well-designed and engineered,and built with such attention to detail and such revolutionary materials that it didn't sacrifice luxury for performance--a lesson that today's automakers have yet to fully learn. Despite the astronomical price of the LFA,despite that Lexus would actually lose money for every LFA they built, they understood that the cars that followed in the LFA's wake would be better than ever before. I've been waiting for this video for long. I think that the sound that it makes, even in idle, is really astonishing and there's no match for other enhanced cars fitted with straight pipes exhaust. In the fullness of the time, most of the cars will have to be some to be better, due to the fact that we're now moving towards turbocharged engine and they don't make that pure sound like that on the LFA or the like!! Everyone fawns over v8’s and v12’s, and rightfully so, but some of the v10 engines give the best exhaust notes in history. The Carrera GT, the LFA, even the Gallardo/Huracan, have some amazing exhaust notes. The GT and LFA two of the best in history to me.

I'm talking about overall package, of course this won't be the best performance road car with Veyron and several other monster performers that have been released since this debuted. But this just has the overall best package, a blend of both worlds and the sound feeds your soul. Jeremy Clarkson has driven top notch performance super cars, even better ones than the LFA. It didn't stop him from saying this is the best car he has ever driven.

This is my dream car🤤I want to one maybe sit in one. Def on my bucket list before I die....... This has to be the best car in the world that's just my opinion it also has a one off engine that will never be in any other car it's exhaust has to be what angels of the car gods sound like and come on it breaks glass for real it's body had been done but they decided it was to heavy and scraped it to go with another material and another 3 years later then the LFA was announced I can't give it the justice in words about how much love and devotion was put in to the best driving experience you could want it has some fails and this is a one of kind car that will stand out for being one of the best cars people failed to notice when they came out and now are like unicorns in the car world and possibly the car world

Shmee150 I could tell by the sound, the car was not into it fastest shifting setting. On the right behind the steering wheel theres a stalk with plus or minus that allows you to change how fast the car shifts, it wasn't on its highest setting. Just a heads up! In case you get the chance to drive the car again, cheers!

The Nurburgring package shifts quicker than the standard LFA, and if you watch a couple in-car videos for shift speed in the normal car, you'll hear much quicker shifts. The shift setting makes a big difference.

When shifting at part throttle it's programmed to change more slowly to smooth gear changes more like an auto box. Quickest shifts are at WOT where it's still plenty quick enough.

Possibly he was trying to minimise the brutality of the shifts in favour of smoothness - even though the engineers chose this kind of automated sequential manual for its brutality to enhance the sensation of driving hard.

I just started liking this car. It’s the best Japanese supercar ever made. I know they had dedicated facilities/factories just for this car, like a carbon weaving section! They chose their best technicians to handle everything. They so need to make a new one!!!

Ok thanks for pointing that out because I was like jeez my Audi A6 shifts faster. I remember it was quite controversial when Toyota decided to use a sequential automated instead of a dual clutch.

It's annoying I had no idea you could speed it up independently of the Sport mode toggle or I would have done so!

This car was never meant to make a ptofit. It was more of an engineering exercise than anything. Akiyo Toyoda, who's a trained race car driver, challenged his engineers to pull out all the stops & develop this vehicle, which took over a decade. The LFA was the end result. The LC500 is built in the same facility this LFA was made. I'm positive some of the DNA rubbed off.

Favorite supercar!! Only bcuz it so different from the rest... and according to all the reviews, performs amazingly in its own way. And of course the sound and looks 🙌🏼
