One of the greatest blessings in my life. The music of the Robin Trower Band. Once I heard the Voice...I was bitten. Thanks for the memories. RIP and God bless you Lisa.

I recently played Long Misty Days to a group of friends with, er, somewhat differing tastes to mine own. [Think classical, etc...] ALL were blown away by Jim's voice. OK, so I gained a lot of kudos, but what REALLY matters is that MORE people, and no doubt many of their friends, now know of this unique talent. RIP, fella, and THANKS...❤

I remember travelling into Glasgow to a small pub called The Burns Howff in West, Regent Street in Glasgow, I went originally to see a local Falkirk band and Beggars Opera. There I first saw Stone the Crows, what a very powerful band. Later I idolised Robin Trower, still buy all his stuff and Bridge of Sighs is one of my top 3 albums. Dewar was an absolute star his deep voice an intrinsic element of the band. Listen to Trower’s stuff since and you realise how good Dewar was. Interesting aside, when Jimmy was in hospital he was very grumpy and used to say to the nurses ‘do you know who I am’ - they had never heard of him. In terms of Scottish musicians Dewar to me is the very pinnacle, absolutely immense.

I'm glad to have found this article. Many questions answered here. Trower's band was never the same w/o James. But we still have those albums to listen to.

Dewar has a rasp similar to Paul Rodgers. I always liked that about his voice. Oozing with soul.

@HarmonyHeartsLifestyle-ul5yv. Thank you for your work on this video on James Dewar. I first heard the album “Bridge Of Sighs” way back in 1975, and was immediately drawn to James’ exceptional vocal talent. There’s a slower tempo track on the album called “About To Begin”. I read a review of the album at the time and the journalist commented about this track (writing something like) “If you hear this song and you are not moved by James Dewar’s vocal, then check your wrist for a pulse because you must be dead!” I place James as one of the U.K.’s best rock vocalists alongside Paul Rodgers, Frankie Miller, Freddie Mercury etc. The “Bridge Of Sighs” line-up of the Robin Trower band including James and Reg Isidore (RIP) will always be my favourite. Unfortunately James is so overlooked and largely unknown, which is such a shame. Thanks again. Stay safe and well.

"Underrated" is ironically one of those adjectives that is used rather loosely, casually and often incorrectly. In James Dewar's case, however, it is right on the money. The general listening public really didn't know who this guy was during the heyday of the Robin Trower band. The focus was totally on Robin, but in retrospect I think the people marketing the band probably should have shone more of the limelight on Mr. Dewar, a big, missed opportunity. As great as Robin was and is, he was really not a charismatic "frontman". Be that as it may, they did have a near decade long run despite what in my opinion was a huge, missed opportunity to market the band as "a band" and not just as Robin Trower as essentially a solo act.
