Steve Priest is one of the greatest bass players I have ever seen, I was very sad when he passed away. ❤
@verty87Ай бұрын
Come off it, are you serious? You are obviously confusing his image with his playing ability. No more than adequate at best. If he's one of the greatest you've ever seen then you've not seen many.

@@MrsJHarrington You are quite correct, 'one person's meat' etc. All the best.
@markr.devereux33858 күн бұрын
@@verty87 I think his bass playing is better than average. Not a geddy Lee nor is geddy himself technically the best by bassists themselves. The SWEET were in the mid 70s and basslines had to fit the format . not prog rock . Steve has little mini solos that show good musicality aside from abilities to harmonize vocally. I would have loved to have such a bass player in my band.

This red-headed boy and then man, with piercing and witty clear blue eyes, was not only an outstanding bass player but also a fabulous human being. Whenever he spoke, or wrote about Brian, he had the power to move me every time...never a malice, a condemnation, a misplaced word, an annoyed reaction...always tenderness, affection even in his bandmate's darkest moments, understanding of pain. One thing he had in common with Brian...in the last interviews of both of them, they had the courage to show themselves as they were: fragile, sick, weak and in spite of everything still smiling. Brian when he sang, in the last years of his life, was trembling, fatigued...Steve was no longer able to play standing up, only sitting down. Great dignity of those two beings...able to sing, as an old adage goes, carrying the cross. Nobody like them...❤❤
@markr.devereux33859 күн бұрын
nice comment. Those guys after hearing GIVE US A WINK sparked a real affection for them by myself. Steve is always in my mind when admiring their tracks which I still play a lot.
@silviazanicotti50549 күн бұрын
@markr.devereux3385 thank you, it's exactly what I think of them and I feel the utmost admiration. Brian and Steve had been two extremely attractive young men, but if showing themselves in their prime was easy, the same could not be said in their later years. Brian could hardly walk and even moved his hands badly, Steve was no better off... standing was an effort and he looked pained, perhaps even depressed, sad. Yet they put their vulnerability before everyone's eyes, as could happen to any of us in life, with humility and courage. This made them wonderful...

Though I never had the opportunity to see Sweet in concert--as I was a baby when they were in their prime--I was fortunate to get a copy of Steve's book personally autographed with my name in it. I'd hoped that I would get the chance to see him perform with his band live. I was crying when I found out about his death. I love Sweet's music with their instrumental and vocal arpeggios--it's gold to my ears. Rest in power, Steve, Brian, and Mick.
