Thanks for a lovely tribute to the legendary Mick Tucker. I think it's safe to say that his drum opening in "Ballroom Blitz" has reached iconic status. He was definitely an amazing drummer who I believe has influenced others. It's heartbreaking that his daughter Ayston lost her parents both too young. Mick is deeply missed, yet fondly remembered. 🥁🎶

Mick Tucker was the greatest rock drummer that the UK and the world never truly recognised.., he was, and is .., A Legend! Ballroom Blitz..., an incredible piece of drumming., and then some.., Into The Night., Sweet F.A., Solid Gold Brass..., Just a Superb piece of drumming, every track!.., and then some.., Midnight To Daylight.., and in my humble opinion..., one of the greatest recorded rock jams ever.., the brilliant 'Keep It In' from the 'Give Us A Wink' album from 1976.., absolutely incredible drumming!! I was fortunate enough to accidently bump into Mick in Debenhams in Harrow in 1982.., I had nothing for him to sign for me as it was purely an accidental meet.., but he shook my hand as I told him that I was a life-long Sweet fan, and that he was the main reason as to why I became a drummer., x R.I.P Mick..., you, (& Cozy) were and always will be the one and only reason as to why I too became a drummer at an early age.., still am, and I'm way passed 60 now!! .., ;) xx

The most underrated drummer of all time. He had it all. The looks, the skill, and a good voice. He got better with time. By the mid 80's, he was at his best as far as his talent goes as a drummer. Love Mick Tucksr, and consider him one of my most valuable influences as a drummer. R I P. Bro!

I first heard Micks drumming when I was ten years old in 1973. The Sweet song " Blockbuster" had just shot to No1, no easy feat when a band had to sell a million 7inch single records in under a fortnight to reach even the top 3 in the charts. The only other drummer at the time that blew my mind was Kevin Godley of 10cc, this shows how great Mick Tucker sounded to me back in those days. Just listen to his opening snare work on " Ballroom Blitz " absolutely world class and completely original. R.I.P.

Above all, he was good-hearted, a kind and empathetic spirit. When Andy and he were asked about Brian's problems, while Andy replied: 'we should have just replaced him', Mick replied with a sweet smile: 'we should have tried to do more to help him'. A statement that reveals all the depth and richness of a soul... a real man before being a musician...

Once again, damn!!! I had no idea about all of these tragic stories behind the men of the band Sweet when they were just getting started pretty much as big time in the rock music business, and how sad their stories really are!!! I lost my mom to cancer in 1999, and just recently my one and only brother about a year ago, so every time I hear of someone else having this fucked up disease, I'm very sad for them and their families, especially when it comes to children being sick with it!!! But this story about Mick Tucker is no different!!! It makes me very sad for him and his family, and how awful it is that this is how he passed away!!! One more time I have to say R.I.P. Mick Tucker!!! Ernie Wilber 🤘😢🤘✌️

It’s so good to see this today. I’ve had a rough couple of days with a virus, I come back to KZbin and see this straight away, it’s fantastic. The ins and outs of how a band comes together is fascinating. The thing that sticks with me is watching these guys in a documentary sounding like regular tradies, really down to earth. They understood theatre as well as music. This is brilliant!❤️

Mick was my favorite band member from the 1st moment on. As a young (German) boy, I´d build a "drum(fake)kit" out of scrap and "play" to all the Sweet songs of this time - without any knowledge about drumming. It should just look good, and make me feel a little bit like my idol - and I gave all during my air drumming behind my "drum kit". Sadly I never had the privilege to see him live in concert. 🥁 R.I.P. Mick - I will be one of your biggest fans forever.

I think I read somewhere that a poll was taken every year and Mick Tucker was voted the best drummer in the U.K. almost every year in the 1970's, beating out the likes of Ringo Starr, John Bonham and Keith Moon.

Carl palmer also recieved quite few trophies in the 70's for his drumming. Mick Tucker was also up there with the best drummers & quite rightly so. Ive recently been looking at the box set of the Sweet at Musik Laden, ! Mick had some awesome grooves going on & was a beast of a drummer.
