As a person who's in several Facebook smash groups for Missouri, I've also seen that entire poll first-hand when it came out. For the @16:06 - @17:43 bit of your video, I wanted to mention that I actually chuckled while reading the entire poll & all of the comments that rolled with it. Even if I was semi-aware of the players from STL, I could hypothetically pretend that I didn't know AND still laugh at how funny it sounded to me. Humor is a very crucial and important element to have. If you lack it, then you could warp that situation out of context & destroy something that was clearly a joke among the group. When people bring up systematic oppression in America, they are not talking about the literal laws and rules in place. Systematic oppression can occur in systems that have no laws or rules that explicitly oppress people. It is not about how the system is built, it is about how the system operates and functions. Even without any laws or rules that explicitly oppress people, oppression can still happen. In this type of systematic oppression, there is no central person or group you can point at to blame for the problem. It is primarily socioeconomic factors that play into how the system operates, which can, without explicit intention, oppress people. I can point to an example that has happened in my state. In North Carolina a while ago, there were Voter ID Laws that were being discussed whether they should be implemented or not. The laws were generally centered around the idea that voting needed to be made more secure and the primary method was to require an ID to vote. These laws are well-intentioned, but upon investigation, many sources concluded the design of the laws surgically targeted minorities and affected their voting capabilities. There was a lot of factors that were taken account for, such as voting hours, locations, dates, valid forms of identification, etc. While these laws do not explicitly state that they oppress minorities, the changes that these laws advocate for say otherwise. The problem is that there is not a person to blame in this incident. Sure, you could say that the people who made the laws were racist, but it is impossible to prove whether or not these laws had racist intent behind them. Many far-left Twitter people annoy the living hell out of me because they use these social phenomena like buzzwords and don't actually properly use them or build them up correctly. It gives the impression that systematic oppression is just another complicated looking buzzword that doesn't actually mean anything. However, just because these people on Twitter poorly represent ideas like systematic oppression, does not mean we should throw them out entirely. Even if we are to take a literal approach, it is correct that there are no laws that currently exist that explicitly oppress people, yet we see time and time again of oppression existing within our country through the various government infrastructures. Red-lining, gerrymandering, voter ID laws, all of these are some examples of many that can be found. I love your content Technicals, just wanted to clarify this position up and give it some more nuance.

Hey, for systemic racism, you can look at education. Schools are funded by house taxes in the United States and schools near cities are unfortuntely underfunded due to poor housing. You also have the process of red lining where houses were divided and seperated from people with different ethnic backgrounds. This process was used mostly around 50's and 60's and even though it doesn't happen today but it affects newer generations that stay in the same appartment or housing unfortunatly. With less educated people, through studies it has shown that there are higher crime rates. Very fascinating. I can link videos and good sources too
