Carolyn Jones really did have that Queen of Diamonds power. I loved the Addams family as a kid in the 60's and I remember my mom saying how much she loved Carolyn too, how pretty she was and what a great actress she was. Cancer took my mother in 1971, bless her sweet soul.

I loved it when Gomez called her Cara Mia ("my beloved"), and was driven wild by the slightest of her actions especially when she spoke French. I thought they were the sexiest couple on TV before I knew what sexy meant. Remember when he would kiss her arm up and down when she spoke French? Watching this video shocked me that the show was on for only 2 years. Carolyn wil never be forgotten as she was a beauty beyond the surface and a rare talent.

A great actress. More recently, the singer Madonna also has had that natural ability to play completely different roles in her videos, from the Virgin to a witch, and all of them convincingly. In Jungian psychology it is called the Trickster archetype, with which some people are born, thus their ability to transform themselves rather astoundingly.

"The Addams Family" has long been one of my ten all-time favorite television series. But it's only in the past few years I've really become acquainted with the depth and breadth of Carolyn's work. If anyone has not yet seen the movie "Career" (also stars Shirley MacLaine in one of her earliest parts) - it's a lost gem, and Carolyn's performance in that was one of the finest I've ever seen by ANY actress. I so respect her work ethic and her professionalism - never a sloppy half-hearted performance by her even if it wasn't the best part or production. This was a wonderful, comprehensive tribute that I'm sure Carolyn would be thrilled to watch herself.

Since I was a kid I always loved her as Morticia, but as I got older and noticed her in other movies,(which she couldn't hide too much because her eyes always gave it away for me),and I learned she wore a wig for Morticia,I gained even more respect for her as an actress, and her talent for morphing into different characters, despite her health issues she carried on gracefully. After watching this,I stand corrected, because I thought I read in a article that the part for Morticia was done with her in mind for the part, and, her husband had to convince her she was perfect for it or something like that, thanks for that enlightening info. 🤷🏿‍♂🤦🏿‍♂

Since I l loved The Addams Family as a kid (70 years old now), I’d always assumed the cast were beloved to me because of it. But the main characters drew me to whatever they performed in, and Carolyn Jones was the perfect Morticia. John Aston was her ideal spouse, and Ted Cassidy WAS Lurch. I appreciated him and all the others wherever I saw them, not ruling out Jackie Coogan, whom I already knew as an actor; why I didn’t mention him earlier. Once she’s in your system, it’s impossible to shake her off….and now, for me at 60, I’m finally discovering the KZbin Goth vids plus the Goth festivals, so much so that I am determined to dress as a Goth/ vampire for the next Whitby Goth festival in October 2022! As always, you bring us a fantastic story!! She was the ultimate actress!! She really could play any part. Thank goodness her grandfather saw that too!! I really never noticed how much she resembled Bettie Davis as she got older. ❤️ Thank you for bringing us Carolyn’s story.

Addams Family is such a cult classic, I remember it from when I was a kid and recognized even then how great comedians and actors they were. :) Nice to learn more about her career.

I LOVED the Addams Family & it’s still my favorite ever. I loved the sets and at 5&6 yrs old was redecorating our house - much to the surprise of my mum! I today am a designer and my house, and clients when they let me, is a beautiful collection of antiques, mounts, Persian carpets, plants, fabulous drapes, musical instruments & lots of oddities - all inspired at my young age devouring every minute of the show. I often wonder what it would have looked like in color! The series is so underrated- the acting, the persona and chemistry between Gomez & Morticia is unmatched, the writing clever, the characters, the names, the sets and music perfect. I record the shows now and still watch one a few times a week before bed - everything about it makes me happy, and Lord knows a sweet respite from our turbulent times is a good thing. Thanks so much for your video - more reasons to love it :)

Great presentation. It was a unique experience growing up in the 60s and early 70s, seeing tv shows like the Addams family when it first aired. It was perfectly cast. Carolyn was so beautiful....and always had perfect timing.

Very thorough bio. It should be noted that the character and mannerisms of Gomez Adams was fashioned after Groucho Marx. The line producer was Nat Perrin, who wrote and produced for Groucho for years. John Aston, captured the sly mannerisms, and delivery perfectly to .form the character of Devilish Gomez. Together with Carolyn, Jones, they were my favorite TV couple.

Talented, versatile, and so lovely! Carolyn Jones brings to my mind the best facial features of Liz Taylor and Vivien Leigh, combined in a way that was uniquely her own. Carolyn’s acting was always spot-on. She was a gem. I’m happy that she found lasting love and happiness in her later years, and that her illness could not dim her spirit. What an inspiration she was, and a joy to remember. Thank you for this video.
