Mayberry was and is an actual place. It's located a short distance northeast of Mt. AIRY N.C. across the state line into VA. Andy Griffiths grandparents lived there.

I was trying to find a video of the episode where they decide to honor a stranger for, I believe, Mayberry’s Founders Day. In it, they choose a man who is a professional pickpocket. I was looking for when Floyd says “There’s nothing to worry about in Mayberry.”

There are 249 episodes of TAGS, not 149. Howard McNear was terrific as Floyd Lawson. He suffered a stroke in 1962; it was a real testament to Andy, the show, and McNear himself that he came back in 1964 and continued on until 1967. He and Ellen Corby were true pros who proved that you can continue doing what you love doing even after a catastrophic event.
