We place so much attention on politicians, when it’s people like this amazing doctor who change the rules to favor the non-rich

Please don’t give up on this path to making health available to so many. I’m 80 , have been chronically ill for more years than I can count, have just paid out a large amounts of money to be seen by a functional medicine person but had to discontinue because of costs. I’ve received responses from pcps when questioning my records after finding that I have issues with arteries that I was. never told about to not be concerned because I will be given a statin drug if I need it. The point is that I do not want to get to that critical point! I am very proactive about my health and at the very least want to be aware of where I stand.

I had a friend that did the same. Unfortunately, she ignored symptoms and ended up with pancreatic cancer.😢

@@MillieHaynam So sorry to hear that. In my teens went to so many doctors to find out what was wrong with my body. Grew up in the 70’s and just an active kid then, played ice hockey, wrestling, soccer and ate what the schools gave me and what the parents made. Back to the doctors for years the doctors told me to cut back on my sports. Fast forward to early 20’s diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis. No one really understood why and was treated what was available back then. Now near 60 years young and many surgeries with joint replacements and joint fusions with biological treatments to try to control the disease. I am still very active, working out with weights and bikes/ellipticals/stairclimbers machines for about 1 hour 6 days a week. I have tried so many changes in my eating habits with what either was popular or shown to help with these diseases by science. I practice meditation and I think this has been one of the biggest changes to my life along with therapists. Living with pain a lot of my life has caused me to decide if I have had enough of life I will not live this life in constant pain, and I know suffering is optional but this has changed my outlook on life with pain I just won’t do life that way. I also have worked with nutritionists but will be looking at this company for more help. My disease is still managed but very aggressive as in continuing destructive on the joints. I am very lucky to have health coverage that takes care of all these surgeries. I wish I heard about this company a dozen years ago. ❤

@@MillieHaynam Well, by the time they find pancreatic cancer, it’s too late. There are any real warning signs.

Love this episode- and I'm super excited that FINALLY functional medicine can be accessible to those who are not just in the Top 1% echelon. Huge thanks to Dr. Berzin and the work she is doing and thank you, Rich, for this wonderful podcast episode.

I was a patient with Parsley years ago when it first started. I loved the care and Dr but hated going to a We Work space! Makes sense now that i hear the story. I left after they started the monthly fee model but may consider going back after seeing other Functional Medicine practicioners.

Omega 3 definitely seems to help me …as a wfpb person - algae based, plus milled flax and walnuts; I don’t mind if it’s placebo! Better for mood, brain (and heart maybe) for me, I would not/could not consider fish/fish oil for.. all the reasons! Exercise too, get up and move, and lift! At 59 I want that 40 extra good years too 😂

I can go down major rabbit holes if I get too much testing. Health anxiety is so debilitating at times, so I’m currently sticking to the bare minimum of testing.

Rich, based on her response about vegan omegas, I get the feeling she is against a vegan diet and believes animal protein is superior to plants-which has been disproven by studies 😒 but I would love her to debate Simon Hill because she is clearly misguided and is in turn feeding her patients misinformation by dissuading them away from a plant based diet. Please have her back with Simon Hill 🙏🙏🙏

It would be helpful if you could talk about Type 1 diabetes along with Type 2. It's got its own challenges but very hard to get doctors to help. Take more insulin is what they say, they haven't helped people to eat low carb, till very recently they basically said eat what you want but cover it with insulin which doesn't work. I think having the follow up help, coaching would be effective.

C’mon Rich… THE lifestyle medicine doc? You could have done some research to find more prominent figures in the LSM field like Beth Frates who heads the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Change the caption to match the truth.
