My wife and I have the habit of reading through the Bible over and over again and then listening to expository preaching on the passages we read. So, we came to Ecclesiastes this morning and in searching for messages came upon yours. We were blessed by the truth brought forth in your sermon

Jesus said there WILL be trials and tribulations, so Dr. Baucham is spot on. Ecclesiastes was written by King Solomon via the Holy Spirit just like every Book from Genesis to Revelation. Solomon wrote this Book and Proverbs while living under the Law, but the law/commands/ decrees of God were written by Moses. The Law that Jesus fulfilled for us because we are too sinful, rebellious and weak. Give God all the glory!

This jaust came to my mind after a conversation with someone whom I know and love. It may or may not relate to the sermon as I have not finished listening. So here it goes, there was a plac on the kitchen wal in my Great granparents house. And it said: Either you are well or you are sick. If you are well there is nothing to worry about. If you are sick, either you will get well or you will die. If you get well there is nothing to worry about. If you die there are 2 things to consider, either you go to Heaven or Hell. If you goto Heaven there are no more worries, however if you goto Hell, you'll be so darn busy shaking hands with friends you won't have time to worry. WOW, what a summation of the curse of Sin and the redemption of Yeshua, that is if you have eyes to see it.

POINTS I MADE THROUGHOUT: “Stop looking for hidden sins every time something goes wrong” (there may be one but stop looking for curses) - learn to think biblically! God intends for us to seek wisdom and knowledge. Solomon was wise and knowledgeable because he was RELENTLESS (devoted his heart) to studying everything! Wisdom and knowledge have their limits, he has tried but failed. No one can be fulfilled by wisdom and knowledge alone. “We cannot solve every problem” (vs.13) “You will never be wise enough or have enough knowledge to defeat death” (Matthew 8) Knowledge is insufficient without the knowledge of God There is wisdom that is wicked… “All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden IN Christ” 37:49 powerful questions and deep stuff‼️ “Are you pursuing wisdom so that you could get stuff or so that you could know God?”

I love it when he said, "the more we learn, the more we don't know." WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE IS DEFINITELY LIMITED! I fell in love with Ecclesiastes exactly for the reason pastor Voddie says most do not like it. It hit me earlier this year as I did my morning devotional and I realized that a while hearted pursuit of wisdom was the source of Solomon’s wisdom. Not a natural endowment. I saw clearly that Solomon pursued pleasure and gained wisdom in that pursuit. I saw the beauty in gaining experience and pursuing life in full, with the understanding that we will be brought into judgment for our errors in the pursuit (Ecclesiastes 11:9)

When first saved, i was told that Ecclesiastes, was considered the most difficult book to understand. I was told the same thing about reading mere christianity. I found both, to be clear, sensible, and quite easy to get. Im 62, i can use the phones to call, and get on a web site, beyond that, i do NOT, wish to know these things. When introduced in 2007, i said emphatically, that these things mean big trouble. I naturally go to paper maps. See, tech, is like a man, running down a hill. I can PROMISE, IF HE IS NOT CAREFUL, AND RUNS TOO FAST, HE WILL FACE PLANT, HEAD OVER TEA KETTLE, HARD. Same with tech. Tech is knowledge, but not wisdom.wisdom, can only be good. Knowledge can be good, or evil, equally. Bad knowledge teaches us, in a different direction.

Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Basically, this verse teaches that the fear of God is foundational to true wisdom; all other types of learning are worthless unless built upon a knowledge of the Lord Himself. Many other passages talk about the fear of the Lord (e.g., Psalm 111:10; Proverbs 1:7; 14:27; 15:33). Before we can understand how the fear of the Lord leads to wisdom, we need to define what the Bible means by “fear” in this context.
