Not a fan of psytrance but that transition in that song is actually so sick.

I did a similar thing with a pitch dive sub which carried on going down below audio rate and into rhythmic pulses which then became the rhythm of the track.

Wow this is really cool. I'm thinking about using the index of the wavetable and move it while making the FX. I will try. Thanks for sharing!

I realised this was possible a few years ago but I'd never got around to trying it. Phaseplant really does seem to be the best tool for the job. Nice work, Dash!

there's a youtube video where if you put a 4x4 kick and bass with a clap and speed it up to a ridiculous bpm it actually becomes a major chord

Oh this is actually pretty nice! Since the rythm comes from pitching down the oscillator to really low values, to fix the offset problem wouldn't be fixed by just retriggering the midi note and reset the phase of the oscillator?

A bar would be x 4 not ÷ 4!? That's why it ended up too slow.. Very cool idea however 🥰
@DashGlitch
@DashGlitch Жыл бұрын
No, if we're calculating the amount of time 1 bar takes we take the time of 1 beat and times it by four. Because we're dealing with hz (amount of time) but thank you, apprecaited
@arielleandrist
@arielleandrist Жыл бұрын
Yes, but that's not giving you a figure in hz is it. After a bit of test myself the 0.59166 figure you ended up with does seem crazy slow, yet is actually correct as it does line up with the beginning of each bar. 2.3666.. x 4 = 9.4666.. aligns with 16th notes which is where you want to end up in theory, but that would end up sounding like an AR.. So yeah, as you demonstrated, the 16 note pattern in the wavetable is the way to get the bar hz setting playing at the req'd rate and not on every 16th There is obviously the option to go the other way too. Perc at the start of a break that winds up and up becoming the lead sound at the drop..

Hi Dash, I really am enjoying the content thank you so much for all the time and effort you put in. I was wondering if you could do a video on this one technique I hear everywhere but I cannot seem to get right or understand. It sort of sounds like (as much as i know it probably isnt this) a kick and bass together to almost make a long kick sound. Like in Eden by Lifeforms. I have started noticing how that technique always gets the crowd moving here in SA. Was wondering if you could help me out?

Is there something equivalent of “shift” in other synths like serum / vital / falcon?
@DashGlitch
@DashGlitch Жыл бұрын
They all do it differently, the reason I chose phase plant is it’s one of the only ones you can modulate the keytrack on and off. That and bitwig native stuff
@markusshoggu
@markusshoggu Жыл бұрын
please allow me to ask a non related question. i watched your phaseplant tutorial about generative music. but i dont understand how you trigger the notes. do you still have to hold a note or does phase plant trigger the sounds by itself?
@DashGlitch
@DashGlitch Жыл бұрын
The idea of generative is to hold 1 note and let the rest be generated

Interesting formula, is there any other way to do this with Bitwig stand alone VST other than Phase Plant?
@DashGlitch
@DashGlitch Жыл бұрын
Yep, the trick is to turn off keytracking while you turn the oscillator up to the exact hz you need.
