I was stationed in Holy Loch, Scotland in 70-71 in the Navy aboard the USS Canopus As 34. Everyday i had off of my duties i took off for Dunoon or several other places to listen to the bagpipes and watch the men march. Absolutely loved my time over there. Sure would like to visit there again. Wonderful people.

@@craigsmith7273 they are wearing a kilt and they have a Scottish accent not British. Plus they would give there life to the queen and honor Britain and plus Britain has the Scottish flag on it it too you see the X in the back the is the Scottish flag England and Scotland United in the past. England’s flag previously was the cross then the United Scotland that is why you have X and the cross. Scotland has their flag on the British flag.

Respect, where respect is due. To the commanding officer, and to the entire regiment. Respect from America and from Bulgaria both, because I have both passports. In America, My mom's second husband (American) was from Clan Cunningham. His first wife (God rest their souls) was from Clan Davidson. She (my mom) got her Ph.D. in Dun Edin. Has many friends, in your capital, to this day. I graduated UC Riverside. The sports teams are called Highlanders, every graduation includes the bagpipe band. Even people who only have relatives in Scotland are proud to say so. Thank you.

Clearly there's a relationship there which goes beyond just the commissioned and non-commissioned formalties. One thing I love about formal British parades is the platoon of veterans that are allowed to march at the end of the column. As a Civil War reenactor in the States, I march once a year at our Veterans Day Parade [Remembrance Day in the Commonwealth]. I don't know why, but I like how it makes me feel.
@stuartmccall5474
@stuartmccall5474 2 жыл бұрын
The why of it??? I believe its called Camaraderie, the feeling of being attached by a non-blood connection to something eternal and far greater than you as an individual (your Regiments multi Century old continuous history perhaps) to which you will remain long after you have passed away. These lads here can trace their origins to 1633 AD as "The Royal Scots" Regiment and whilst they don't talk about it they are aware of their Regimental history, hence when recruitment is very competitive with other careers, they can successfully attract the most "unlikely Scots" into their ranks from Commonwealth Nations who wish at a personal level to become part of that Immortality. Respects to you.

Joe Don Poppy’s are for soldiers that died during ww1 during the Somme? And is now for every fallen solider from ww1 too present day. The only brits that hate Germans are uneducated idiots probably like yourself. I for one look back and see a well fought Germany who would have won the war if not for there mistake in Russia and the yanks. We brits were on our knees during the war. Not all nazis were evil most were just young boys fighting for their flag and you have too respect that. Rest in peace too all fallen troops during the war on all sides for they are braver men than 98% of all men today.

Interesting comment?? These "native" Scotsmen are probably from Commonwealth Nations where they have as their "birthright" the right to apply to join the British Armed Forces. You will also see large numbers of South Sea Islanders (mainly from Fiji) in the British Armed forces. FYO, the two Highlanders in the front of this video are probably from East or West African Commonwealth Nations.
