Shenzi was pretty awesome in this movie, in terms of being a pretty menacing example of an alpha female hyena. I would have loved to see her chafe under the 'leadership' of Scar. Since male hyenas are typically subservient to females, it's likely that she wouldn't enjoy being placed under anyone, especially a male. When she leads her clan to kill him in the finale, we get to see her true malice. The line, "Now this is a meal I've waited my whole life for." would be EXCELLENT if delivered towards Scar, a character with whom Shenzi has a concrete reason to be at odds with, despite their partnership. The hyenas wanted to kill the Lion King, and at that point in time, Scar could be considered just that.

Beyond even the issue of "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" being set in the daytime, I find the vocals in that song don't mix well. Don't get me wrong, Glover and Beyonce are both great singers, but they don't sound great together in my opinion. For a song that has a line about 'living in perfect harmony' their voices just do not work well together. Beyonce's vocals are just so much more powerful in that song that it makes it sound like Glover is struggling to keep up with her, and better mixing could have solved that problem.

I agree. The whole ending fight with shenzi and nala came out of nowhere. Would've been better to add the reason why they dislike each other. Like the hyenas were getting sick and tired of getting the end of the stick. So scar made them an offer. It would've been cool to see nala always teasing shenzi. But when scar took over. Shenzi would've done the same thing back. That would've add some depth to the story. Not another copy

Not really, she usually returns what she stole to the people V.I.L.E. took it from. The only time I can think of her really taking something and not giving it back was when Player hacked into V.I.L.E. bank accounts to use them in an auction. Though even that was for charity. @@xblade149 No, she isn't. An anti-hero is by definition, "a central character in a story, movie, or drama who lacks conventional heroic attributes" She doesn't lack any "heroic attributes" I mean batman counts because he is all about fear and occasionally tortures people for information. She never went dark, and the only time she actually stole something and wasn't just returning it to the rightful owner, she was giving it to charity indirectly but still to charity. She is pretty far from an anti-hero and is nowhere near an anti-villain.

I liked the new Carmen San Diego. It took the character everyone liked best and made her the lead. It has a lot of little profound moments about why history is important. I always got the impression that the decision was made because they wanted to tell a specific story.

Actually the people that made this movie aren't dumb. They were so smart that they figured out that they could just recycle the story of the original, put in realistic animation and well-known actors on it, put absolutely no effort in anything else and people would fall for it and earn them over a billion dollars. And I'm ashamed to say that I was one of the ones who fell for it. We are the dumb ones.
@socklock19572 жыл бұрын
IKR? They really should just call all of the Disney live-action remakes “Autopilot Division”: Just recycle the basic story, change aspects of it that don’t even try to improve it, cast modern popular actors (even if some of them can’t sing), and then just sit back and watch the money roll in. 😒

You know what this film didn’t have that the animated one did? EMOTIONAL ATMOSPHERE It knew what emotions to capture in the moment and the animators also knew what they wanted us to feel and how to convey those emotions through the visuals and story as well as how to capture that through the perspective of the characters This fails on both levels COMPLETELY, sorry I had to get this rant out of my system

The lions are such bad actors of this film which is funny cause that's one of the important parts of animation. Is to make the character come alive to match their voices and you know.....act it out through drawings or whatever medium it is. Too bad Favreau was too obsessed with realism than actually trying out something else for this film that would make the story more interesting visually.

I agree with you about the ending Doug, I always thought it was a bit weak. When I first saw the original Lion King I thought, "Man, if Scar had kept his trapper shut when Simba was on the edge, he probably would've won." They knew what kind of ruler Scar was, shouldn't they have realized that there was more to the story about Mufasa's death? Plus, he's forcing Simba to move closer and closer to the edge, and no one's gonna stop him?! I know the hyenas are in the way, but he's your king! It's like come on big cats, pounce!

I haven't really been onboard with the Disney remakes, but when they announced James Earl Jones and Hans Zimmer were returning, I washed my hands of all this. The worst part is the fact James Earl Jones still has a great voice, but he simply doesn't have the power he brought in the original. Just pull up both versions of the movie and compare the line, "A king's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun."

If you watch the YMS video on Kimba the White Lion vs The Lion King, its painfully obvious that animated movies about royal lion cubs that come into their own will always share similar elements because its impossible to write stories using African elements without them. You will always have mandrills, always have hornbills, the spirits will always appear in nature. Like these are just common storytelling elements of African folklore.

About why they couldn't move the Pridelands to Timon and Pumbaa's place, it's because Scar is in charge and he doesn't want to admit he's destroying everything. Sarabi told him that they have to leave Pride Rock, but Scar then responds "We're not going anywhere! I'm the king! I can do whatever I want!" However, the idea of the pride moving their home to the jungle at the end when Scar's defeated actually does sound interesting. Maybe even something they could have used in this film, but tHaT wOuLd Be DiFfErEnT!
