I remember when I was invited to see the fourth _Harry Potter_ movie at age 9, I refused to go at first because it’s rated M (i.e. recommended for 15 and older, roughly analogous to PG-13), yet my friends made me come along anyway. Even though, the wildebeest stampede in this film is supposedly clumsy compared to the original, it made me think back to the Brontosaurus stampede in the 2005 King Kong remake. That stampede was also clumsy but because they were so big, they had to travel down a tight gorge when chased by predators and even their size was enough to kill anyone who got caught in it.

I'm not gonna lie, the one thing I really liked out of this film was the Lion Sleeps Tonight song. It sounds identical to the original song and better than the one in the original.

Yeah, you know it’s bad when the scenes with the comic relief are the best scenes in the movie. At least with Gilbert & Sullivan, the lead comic character is integral to the story, taking on a sort of antagonistic role to contrast with the romantic leads.

Emotional atmosphere is the key thing above all else that this film is missing In the animated version the animators knew what emotions to capture in the moment and what they wanted us to feel through the story and visuals This readaptarioin fails on all of those fronts

I think the film was just…...okay in the least. Its not much special, it could've come up with new creativity and possibly explored Mufusa and Scar's past more and used new lines so we wouldn't cringe at what we've already heard from the original. I kind of cringed at the part where Belle was nursing the Beast in the BatB remake because it entirely reused what we've seen from the original.

I agree that the "moral" in the original was overanalyzed. Because I'm not even sure that it was meant to be THE moral of the movie. I think it was more a way to convince and motivate Simba to go back and face Scar. If the stick analogy wasn't there, it wouldn't have convinced Simba to go back and face Scar. That's all Simba needed; a motivation to go back. And the stick example convinced him that he could do it.

I loved the NC’s review on the movie, but there is one thing I can’t stand about it: when he complained about Scar saying “as you know” Oh. My. Gosh. I am new to the channel. Despite Lion King arguably being the most lazy of the Disney remakes I actually thought the worst one was Aladdin & I still do. I am much happier with a shot for shot remake that says we don't even give enough of a crap to try as opposed to a movie that replaces a terrific climax with one I feel is blatantly much worse
