Just wanted to clarify for everyone watching, the weekly maw quest to rescue souls actually provides you with Renown which is needed in order to fully unlock the soulbind trees, so in the context of player power, this weekly IS mandatory. (At least this is how it worked roughly 2 weeks ago when using the nom-premade level 60 characters)

I imagine once you get renown capped (39) this weekly will begin to give you similar rewards to the calling quests. Anima, rep, gear, who knows. At that point it's very likely it's no longer "mandatory"

Well it seems you don't have to do many of them. Now we do 4 per day if we keep up with emmisary but in sl u maby do 4 per week. Next time you do same wq it may have been over a month since you did it.

The thing with the travel time is that those longer WQ, esp if they are ESCORTS or inolve waiting for NPC in any way, wil make it much less convenient for alts to do stuff once flying is here and people are resubbing. Also: If there are WQ and you are expected to do them i want them to be touch-down, kill, mount-up fly-away. It gets old as fast as anything else but atleast it can be done in seconds.

Not gonna lie, as much as everything these days always needs content to do and that carrot on a stick. I like the idea of the Maw at first being both metaphorically and literally confusing to the player, empty, kind of a barren thing that seems like it's gotten stuck in Beta, only for them to turn on a switch down the line with x.5 and be like "Oh look, here be a base. Oh look here be a world quest or two." and slowly but surely as the patches progress, the expansion as a whole progresses, the Maw turns from that barren seemingly ruined dark place, to this grand, black city of death with more and more things to do, with the Eye of the Jailer filling up slower and slower because it's easy to keep you in check in a barren wasteland with nowhere to hide, but as his power grows and we get closer to that final confrontation, the maw itself just starts building up to such a degree that it suddenly seems easy for us to stay, while the threats exponentially increase in numbers.

@@BeastMastery agree totally and I preach since day one of BFA to remove the gcd changes they made. If people want to macro everything into one button, let them. (Eventhough this is not beneficial to do, if abilities don't share the same cd) If I have abilities that have the same cd I macro them anyways for pve, the gcds didn't change that, it only slowed down the game and maybe made it a little bit visually more noticeable when you use cds. The game was much more enjoyable before the gcd changes, no clue why blizzard refuses to understand that.

ngl I think everything you just said sounds great. I hope they can make The Maw a little more scary though, but I think the only way to do that is somehow punish you hard if you don't leave it on time and put in a bunch of very hard mobs. As for the lack of Flight Whistle... yes, that's a thing, but in my experience there's a ton of flight paths and teleporters. It should be fine. General bugginess and the lack of music has me worried though.

Grateful for your always apt critical analysis... It feels to me like they designed the covenant system around retaining subs via alt play by implementing consequences for switching covenants. As an MMO player of 25 years (started when I was 9 years old with the first graphical mud) I appreciate that you have the experience and the ability to conceive of how the implementation of these systems are conflicting with the game experience. @@dafire9634 You kind of need to go there a lot earl in the game though, but at the same time, I think they are holding back on releasing more of it for now in Beta to "surprise" players once the game goes live. Without going into spoilers, you need to go there like 3 times just during the Torghast intro quests right at level 60, so you are pretty low powered, probably still wearing BFA gear stilll for many players, so you will be there a lot within a week or so of release. The "good" news is if you get lucky, you can literally get everything you need for Renown from Torghast if you get lucky with Anima Powers.

@@scottfree6479 "should leave us time to work on alts or stuff we want to do" is in regard to the world quest changes. but as far as flying, Blizzard was never going to give it to use in the first half of the game any how. the design isn't really lazy as its different from BfA/ Legion. Lazy would be using the same design all over again. we will have to play through it before we can determine if the change was good or bad. borrowed power has existed since the first expansion. you gain weapons gear and abilities that gets replaced in the next expansion. very few things become a permanent part of a class.

I haven’t seen traveling discussed much, which is surprising. One of the first things I noticed was how big and spread out everything is, and how long it takes to get from point A to point B. Even Oribos is a huge pain in the neck to get around in. It’s a big difference from all the flight paths and boats from BFA.

Artifact Craftsmanship you mean. Legendaries are items that takes you a very long time to FIND, not craft, find. And they're not mandatory to complete your class feeling, they're just flat bonuses that doesn't impact player progression. In Shadowlands we do not have Legendary items, we have Orange coloured craftable artifacts.

The leather imbuements are 4 leather kits per application. Chest, Hands, Legs, and Feet. Everyone in the raid or for a m+ will have to use these, as they do not overwrite your enchants. This gives you tons more hp (4k more HP on a Ret Paladin), which is important to outlive deadly mechanics (by either outliving one-shots, or giving your healers a bigger puffer to react etc.), similar to how more hp with mythic gear compared to your heroic gear helps in those situations.

Remember, the maw was how we were suppose to get "currency" to go back into Torghast, but we complained about not being able to just do it as much as we wanted, so they removed that (which is great!). But I think that's part of why the maw feels... unfinished?

When Blizz talked about the Maw in the beginning of development they wanted you to farm for keys to Torghast, they since removed that, and it seems they are struggeling to find a good replacement feature to add to it. Hope they dont just let it be like this.

I REALLY like all the little consumables coming back. Very reminiscent of vanilla and older style rpgs. More customization and options when you really need the boost

Imo the Maw sounds like it's a zone Blizzard is going to release unfinished and then complete it later and call it "content". Blizzard is going down a dangerous path where players are going to learn the game is only "finished" during the last patch and they'll just wait to buy the expansion until it goes on sale. Personally I enjoyed BFA but not really until half way through when they finally balanced Azerite armor and other core parts of the game. At this point I'm asking myself why I want to buy an expansion that's clearly unfinished when I could just wait until later, get it cheaper, AND have a complete game.

Blizz could be waiting on Maw stuff until a later patch, like the Broken Shore in Legion. They could also be withholding content in that area for story spoiler reasons.

game feels rushed, i have a very bad feeling about this. If it becomes BFA 2.0 or even Wod 3.0 at this point..i dont know what to say. Classes seem fine ish but they are still changeing things

You can't skip weekly covenant grind: without it, you can't unlock raws of conduits for your soulbinds and it affect your power a lot
