Appreciate the translating you do, chief. A real public service indeed.

Fantastic video! The context and explanations provided really helped to understand syllogisms a lot better. Other than yours, I can't find any other videos with English translations of Gabriele Giannantoni, so thanks for that!

12:54 this is a key point. Aristotle’s Analytics is an attempt to distinguish seeking the truth from sophistry. Instead of using dialectic, Aristotle bases his analytics on metaphysics.

deve existir uma ligacao univoca entre o significado de um ato e seu simbolo, uma vez que essa condicao não se aplica entre o nome que o predica.

Yes but Hegel's attempt to swap the extremes for the middle; i.e. make what is meant to be given (The universal Grasped, in thought, from the particular perceptible, external to the mind) instead proven through the syllogism itself is not kosher.

In other words, logic proceeds to further truth only after an initial truth is assumed. Analysis can not yield terms, only terms can yield analysis. I.e. rationalism and positivism are false……? Someone correct me…… it can’t be so simple
@Aristocle2 жыл бұрын
What is meant in the video is that logic is a tool(organon) that produces correct/conforming reasoning(logoi). Logic is not a science, but a tool of it. While science produces, through the demonstrative scientific method, truths of reason(aleteia). Another kind of truth is the truth of fact(veritas) typical of jurisprudence. But, as Max Weber says, today's science has axiological neutrality. In Aristotelian terms, right and wrong come from practical philosophy(or practical science= episteme praktike), obviously science as Aristotle understood it.

What’s the difference between an axiom and a thing supposed?

So you are asserting positivism? Self-evidence is a pretty elusive thing. Do you have an example?

Essas contradições de termonologia não vai atralhar a capacidade de raciocinardo sujeito no seu trabalho filosofico. O "velho grego" usa uma base reversa por achar ser caminho melhor( mais curto) para o conduzir para a mesma solucao.
