Hi TinMan glad you decided to give my Mods a try, I spent many hours watching where things didn’t work and made my modifications to correct the problem. I found that 38 degrees seemed to be the sweet spot for the hopper at least a good starting point. The one I built for my buddy is still running good after 5000, so I think it has a good longevity. Will be building another soon and going to try a photosensitive resistance relay module for the shut off switch. Got the same motor coming in and going to make an adapter on my lathe. So good luck with it, think you’ll be happy with it. Harry

The original motor isn't available through China, so I got the replacement everyone suggested, do you have to increase the infill to strengthen the tub so you can mount the different motor? If you increase to 100 infill it the bowl turns into 2 and half day print

Hi TinMan, just watching your video again and saw the anti- tip bracket getting hung up. The one thing I noticed that the bullet plate was not running true and that’s why the anti-tip was hitting. The motor you have is that a 6mm shaft of 8mm shaft? The bullet plates from ammo mike have a 8mm hole and maybe the roll pin is off center slightly. So one or both of those cold be the problem. Good luck buddy
@TinManReloading
@TinManReloading 4 жыл бұрын
I noticed that when I was editing the video. The plate slides around when it spins the shaft vertically so gravity moves it downward. I never measured the roll pin I installed on the plate, so it's probably too short. I can't remember the shaft dimension off the top of my head. I'll check it out when I get home. Thanks, Harry! If anything I can take that roll pin off and get a different one tacked onto the shaft.

I just printed most of this bullet feeder. printed a hand crank to test it out and it works. My only question is, when feeding bullets nose down, what piece am I missing ? theres 3 holes on the bottom of the slide in adjustable pieces, but I don't see any parts that would attach to it. I printed the little plug for the other hole..the piece I think I need would look similar, just smaller with only 3 mounting holes and a center hole to fit whichever diameter tube is needed..? Im probably just being dumb..
@TinManReloading
@TinManReloading 4 жыл бұрын
Not being dumb at all. Theres a part called Spring Adapter (I think) in the file folder. One for a large spring and one for a small spring. It's the same spring adapter you use for feeding bullets nose up, you just move it to the slider and only use 3 screw holes.

What infill percentage and wall thickness did you use for the body? The thingiverse links have been nuked
@TinManReloading
@TinManReloading 3 жыл бұрын
I think I did 4 wall thicknesses and 20 percent infill IIRC. If you bump the wall thickness to 5, it might get rid of the tiny gaps on the rim on the bowl. 4 walls caused my extruder to jump around randomly while it was printing the infill for the rim, which to me was a waste of time. Try 5 thicknesses and preview a rim-only layer in your slicer to see if it does any stupid stuff with the infill.

So don’t they make a bullet feeder that is all one kit? Or are you just making a few changes to make a better mousetrap? Looks pretty cool. Must be a lot of work to print all of those pieces. I’m not a computer guy so I have no idea how to go about making something like that.
@TinManReloading
@TinManReloading 4 жыл бұрын
This one does nose up or down. I switched between the two in the vid because I already had the nose-up set up on my Dillon. It was a headache, but its doable! If you buy a bullet feeder like this from say, Double Alpha, they are $470. I'm probably 80 bucks into each of these. Lol.

@TinManReloading
@TinManReloading 4 жыл бұрын
The nose down is for sizing your bullets on the APP press. I dont have one yet so I couldn't show running one for the APP, but I do run a nose-up on my Dillon. The nose down just makes a bullet fall into the hole if its nose down and if its nose up, theres a ledge that the base rides on.

Hi TinMan I am genuinely not winning with the flipper, it seems to get caught in the bullet groove and this stalls the motor. I have adjusted the spring and made it softer but no luck. I also tried reprinting it as an L shape so that the bottom misses the tray but the top is able to hit the bullet out of its position.
@TinManReloading
@TinManReloading 3 жыл бұрын
How many RPM is the motor youre using? If you're using a motor with a gearing of 20 or more RPM and dialing down the speed using a speed controller, you might not have enough torque to rotate when you dial the voltage down to the speed you want. Think of it like starting a car off the line in 5th gear. A motor with 6-10 rpm is ideal. Also, how do you have your spring? The default flipper that uses a compression spring goes from the nub on the back of the flipper and literally just bends down into a corner of the square housing on the feeder.
@FrankieCoda
@FrankieCoda 3 жыл бұрын
@@TinManReloading - I was unable to get the 10rpm motor locally (South Africa) so my next best option was a 120 rpm and I have a speed controller installed. Like you said, by dialing it down, it probably has no low down torque. I have the default flipper that uses the square housing for compression. Do you reckon a 10rpm motor will do the trick? Thank you for responding, wish there was an easier way of chatting to you, have loads of questions.
@TinManReloading
@TinManReloading 3 жыл бұрын
I think that is your problem. A speed controller works by reducing voltage. If you cut down a 120RPM motor to speeds suitable for a bullet feeder, the voltage will be very low and not produce much torque at all. I think a 10 RPM motor would absolutely fix your issue. Can you get them shipped to you via Ebay?
@FrankieCoda
@FrankieCoda 3 жыл бұрын
Hi @TinMan, Thank you so much!!!! It was definitely a motor speed issue - you definitely need the torque to be able to use the flipper effectively. Cant Thank you enough.

Thanks for the video! You mentioned the motor w the threaded shaft with a welded rollpin to a screw would be ideal... Don't you think the torque when operating would back out the screw? Also curious what size roll pin. Thanks!!
@TinManReloading
@TinManReloading 3 жыл бұрын
I think I used a 1/8" roll pin, but 3/32 might be better unless you use the included collator plate generator that comes with the files. You can make your shaft/key hole about any dimension you want. I just realized what would be easier, is to use an M3 wing screw (thumb screw) and just change the hole in the collator plate to fit around the wing screw and the tabs. As for backing the screw out, some blue loc-tite would fix that. You shouldn't need to remove the thumb screw for any reason? But if you did, you can still break the blue stuff.

This might work in the M3-10mm variation. Might be a tad long, but the threaded portion could be cut down. www.amazon.com/dp/B083JC9FH9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_3bDKFb29F0YQE
