This game has come so far since I first got scared shitless by Fluffy in the Dam and when I was getting excited about the addition of Coastal Highway... And it's been an amazing journey, it feels so good to follow a game from the beginning and see it actually become something. The only game that ever came close to TLD in this aspect for me was Minecraft, and even that got old very quickly where TLD did not.

I remember when I was watching news and patiently awaiting the story mode release, and the game has come such a long ways from there. Never thought this game would be something I consistently enjoyed for so long when I first bought it. Yeah! and Im pretty surprised that they have given free updates thus far. I mean yeah the game costs 30€, but it isn't much and after so long time its surprising that it generates so much income that they can afford pay the devs. I completely understand that the game needs some kind of paid content to generate the income and keep the team going. I hope it is done right and the smart way. I also hope that they have done the math and see how much they might get out of this game. Im sure this is not the last game of the studio and at somepoint they might have to start on the next game.

I'm addicted to this game. I have a few wishes: 1. Candles (every home has candles. Especially in winter, at least because of christmas). Funktions: easier to light up (safes Firesticks by lighten up a Fireplace, when it failes) spending light, struggles while it's windy or snowing, more candles = room warms up. Maybe you can find a gas firelighter somewhere near too? 2. Tidy homes/Build mode (why looks every home so destoryed and messy inside? And: Can there be a funktion where I can tidy up a home? My inner OCD needs that desperately, even in survival situations. At least when I spend days or weeks in a certain shelter. Like a build mode, to repair stuff, bring it in place, close open windows and doors with textiles or something else, ...) 3. Growing and watering plants in plant potts inside the houses (Maybe he'll find some packed seeds in some houses or in a farm? Or in fresh or rotten vegetables?) 4. Realisticly basic stuff in every home (every kitchen should have at least a knife, a spoon, a pot, a bottle and something to eat. Maybe there is more food like flour, vegetables and noodles? Every wardrobe should have at least have one peace of clothing, even if its unecessary, so you can harvest material. At least in villages and "normal" houses). 5. Tansportation (Maybe someone left a broken bicycle somewhere? Or even better: A bicycle with a basket for stuff? Or maybe I can use a wheelbarrow to move big, heavy stuff a little easier to one place or another, at a straigt distance? If my stuff gets to heavy to climb somewhere down, maybe I can thow some stuff down, that doesn't break so easy, like clothings and my sleeping bag?) 6. Survive/thrive cooking skills (I can make my own clothes out of fur. Why can't I cook a soup of hunted meat for example, by myself? And why does it take 4-5 kilos of meat to satisfy my for a day? I would be colpleatly satisfied with 500-1000g of meat. And: I would like to hunt some birds. And why does it take two big dead bears to make a coat for one little human? And: Why can't I make a hole in the ice with my axe for fishing? What if he is dirty? Can he wash his hands or his body somehow? Because wild animals can probably smell dirty humans easier I think... And when he is almost starving, why can't he just eat eadible things in his bag like rose-hips?) 7. SEASONS (my biggest wish: After 100 days of deep winter there is a chance, that the earth warms up a bit and the snow melts at least for a few days. It'll be a new challenge, since the player can't melt snow for water anymore and needs to find other recurces to get some water. He gets easyly wet, when it's raining. Maybe he can collect rainwater. New mushrooms, sproudlenghts, a few other animals and birdnests with eggs can appear.) 8. Other players (Even if it will never be a multiplayer. But maybe somebody can join us, so we're not alone anymore. We can help each other, need to take care for each other, can do tasks for each other, ... Maybe for the next season of wintermute?) 9. And please: Do not make the storymode any harder. I barely could manage the last one. Way too many wolfes. QUESTION: Is it possible to domesticate a wolf by feeding him for a few days/two weeks, then gently start to tame it, so he can help to defent me in critical situations and help me hunting? Holy, all this needs to be in game also for your question about the wolf idk if you are talking about a real wolf or the one in the game but no not yet there is a mod that lets you tame a fox but I'm pretty sure its a work in progress

It's here - my annual excuse to obsessively play this through December. Thank you guys for working so hard for all these years. I still can't believe what a deal I got buying this in early access back when there were only two regions, 340 hours in this game and I still get excited to play it. Hinterland should develop another game or a DLC with the same gameplay mechanics like TLD, but on a tropical island/desert or something. People talk about a games replayability, this is the only game Ive ever had that was truly endlessly replayable. No matter how much I explore each area, it seems I always end up discovering something new every time I play. And yall keep updating it! Adding even more stuff. This game should cost double what it comes out. simply an investment masterpiece. many developers would already like to reach what you achieve. they mixed pure survival with an impressive story. the ambient, soundtrack, the details, like in every little corner if you pay attention, there is something to loot, or a letter that directs you to continue investigating hidden caves, etc. just beautiful. it shows that there is a lot of love behind this developer and its great ambitious game. without a doubt, it was worth the 50 hours of gameplay invested to find everything in detail and enjoy the story. simply thanks. The only thing I will criticize is that there are certain missions, in which there is no guide on which way to go. sometimes, you feel like you're lost because there's no indication at all. It happened to me in the mines, having to guess small passageways, and little corners that made the path continue. it was a bit awkward. after that, just amazing. one love, continue for that way

Random ideas for future updates : - Raw meat stored outside should attract wolves, and wolves should be able to steal it, unless stored in a stone cache (where it should not disappear when condition = 0) - Add a piece of plastic pipe as collectible item ; could be used to siphon cars' tanks when you're equipped with a jerrican - Add the ability to poison decoy to kill predators (which would make their meat also poisoned) ? - To make things harder, water and tea should only be storable in containers that you have to find and collect in environment. - Eating / drinking should spend time accordingly to weight (eating 1kg should take more time than eating an energy bar...)

My mother, who is in her 70s, and I have enjoyed this game so much its became almost an addiction. We love TLD. It's therapy too. We've had an earth shattered horrible tragedy happen in our family and this game has helped us focus on something other than our grief. We love you Hinterland. Even though on some days after we've died in a vicious bear attack I look at my mom and she looks at me with her eyes squinted and we say dang it Hinterland. Some days the language is a bit stronger. But basically every time something goes wrong we say Hinterland in a very accusing voice. Some days I say that's it I'm calling Hinterland and complaining. Couldn't be because I pushed us a bit much and have us on deaths door knocking because of blizzards, bears, wolves and or infection. From me and my mom - thank you Hinterland. You've put so much work energy and heart in to this game we appreciate. So excited for what's around the corner.

This game is a prime example of perfect execution. I have been playing this game since 2017, when it came out on Xbox. Ever since I have not even encountered but maybe ONE bug. This game is phenomenal, looks phenomenal, the story mode is amazing. I wish there was a community based survival mode. Would be awesome if we could build our own base and have NPCs join the community and help out around the base. Sending NPCs to gather wood for fires, assigning NPCs to gather food or water, have NPCs patrol the base, etc. I great setting for this would be at the church.

I don't understand how The Long Dark does not have more players than it already does. Sure it can be a bit slow at time but that's the fun of it! Every corner you turn can mean death and the end of your run! The story mode is amazing and the game has come so incredibly far since I first started playing. The game really keeps me on my toes - it's always just a bit too difficult, but not so much that I can't accomplish something and feel great about it. I once downloaded your game from a pirate site in 2014. After an hour of playing, I immediately bought the game and recommend it to everyone. Thanks for the best survival game. I played about 600 hours in total, but that's the best 600 hours played. I think they should add some updated wolf animations. Don’t get me wrong the game is great but because wolfs are among main obstacles you will encounter I think when a when an explosion goes off or when they get shot they should have a newer shocked animation and actually get scared and flee. I feel like the current slow turn to a run like you see in the video when the bomb goes off is underwhelming. The facial animation stays in an angry growl and that’s a bit weird to have after getting shot or experiencing an explosion. It’s a small thing that I think will add to wolf attacks.

I just started playing this game last week and I'm loving it havnt gotten past 14 days yet though but I'm steadily getting better going back to other survival games I'm going to feel pampered by their ease of living this is the most stressful but peaceful survival game I have ever played my first life I found myself in the forlorn muske place got mauled by a bear treid to go around it when I woke back up and fell through ice 10/10

Idea for devs: In the next patch, add a new item: Thermos flask, which will keep 1-2 teas/coffees hot much longer than backpack, for increased cold survival capability.

These days most games get ditched after a year or so and if you like it, you kinda get screwed and end up having to move to a new one, which might be nice but not THE GAME you wanted to keep playing. with the long dark it’s something entirely different and i’m actually not afraid anymore to get attached to the game and i thank you so much for that. and for the insane updates without asking a million bucks for dlcs (as most do these days). this update looks soooo good i’m tempted to skip sleep and just GET TO IT. thanks for being awesome and happy holidays

The mechanic I like most is beachcombing. CH, CrH, and DP are my favorite areas. I wish they would add an option in Custom game to have no harvestable plants, so you have to get everything only from the beach, and make a difficulty level even harder than interloper, with no plants, no hacksaw, no hatchet, fewer clothes, and 1/2 as much coal, and they really need to have separate respawn timer options for custom games for hostile wildlife (bear, wolves, moose) and non-hostile wildlife (rabbits, deer). They should also add the electric lighter to the game as a permanent fire source that only works at night during an aurora. That way you can play in Endless Night mode and still be able to make fire even when your matches and flares run out.

This game has been one of my favorite games since i got it in early 2015 and to see how far the game has come will never not blow my mind. The loving environment of the crew that we slowly learn throughout videos and dev diaries makes this one of the best gaming environments i have ever been a part of. Listening to the players give you guys one of the best communities I have ever heard of and I am so glad to be a part of it. This game is by far the best game I’ve ever enjoyed, your team is amazing with all they have done. When I did happen to have issue with wildlife logic and reported it the patch was extremely quick to be resolved. I’m not sure if I was the only one at that time but keep up the great work!

I first bought this game back in 2018, and I can't tell you how amazing it has been to seen this game grow. I've spent a lot of time in The Long Dark and haven't regretted any of it.

A fireworks show would be awesome. Needing to find certain materials to have one. Small time base building, (little huts, more tent styles, digging holes and havong a cool structure over top or something.) and more animations for for spending time rather than the time just instantly passing by. For example actually fishing (needing materials and bones to create hook and rod and string) and gutting animals with animations. Survival games feel more survival like when needing to do a lot of tasks. It feels better to be staying busy than for time to instantly pass by.

One of my favorite games ever made. Hinterland is such an incredible Dev Studio and I always look forward to their diaries and updates. As a suggestion for the game as been playing since January of 2018. I really want to see for first person animation in the coming updates is fixing stuff or eating or drinking animations. What I mean is by seeing stuff, you have to use the keys or buttons on whichever device you happen to play on, by being able to interact with sewing or taking a drink of water instead of a little timer thing, I think it would bring overall realism into the game but considering that is extremely hard to make and perfect I’m not going to beg for this.
