The Long Dark -- ERRANT PILGRIM (Survival Mode Update)

In my almost 30 years of gaming, my most memorable moment was when I spent the last week before my 500 day achievement which I wanted to spend at the summit of Timberwolf mountain since that is where my run began, I spent the last week gathering some supplies and meat, the weather took a turn for the worse during the last few days as I was heading to the summit, freezing and a little nervous that this could end badly I was attacked by two wolves, I took refuge in a cave near the summit. I recouped over night and headed to the summit on day 498. I set up my bearskin bedroll on top of the tail section of the plane and made a fire, I cooked up some wolf meat and made some coffee and then a storm rolled in. I thought, great I guess this is how my 500th day is gonna end. It stormed all through day 499 and just as I was gonna sleep and get my achievement the storm passed and the skyes opened to a awesome aurora which went all through the night. So I rolled into my 500th day on top of the plane overlooking Timberwolf mtn enjoying the beautiful sights and sounds of this unbelievable game. Thank you hinterland!!!

That's what I love about this game. I had a similair situation, getting into a tough snowstorm in Pleasent Valley, I got disoriontated and panicked. I thought I wouldn't get through this storm and that this was the end. I found a big rock stayed close to it, put down my bedroll, got my oil lamp out and slept with it. Hour by hour, my health getting worse and at the moment that I was giving up the storm was gone. I couldn't believe it, it was one of the most hardest and magical nights I came across in this game. I would never forget the feeling of surviving that night.

From what I remember the ability to dismantle snow shelters has always been in the game. However, I don't think you were ever able to dismantle ruined shelters such as the ones in HRV. This new update changes that

Yea when I camp I go in the middle of nowhere bringing nothing and no way to escape and also choose my feats bring badges bring my girl a long controlling my girl get hit in the head with a hatchet Kill a bear down with a spear die and respawn so seems accurate 😀👍

Portal 2 on sale is the best bang for buck game. The workshop is filled with thousands of community made puzzle chambers. Off course you have to enjoy first person puzzlers though.

I wanted to thank you all for making such an under rated amazing game that is the long dark. I bought this game when it first came available on steam and I have to say it's one of my favourite games that I own. Every time you guy's update this game I jump back into to test out the updates and see how the game has changed. This was one of the best buy's I have gotten of of steam almost as good as left 4 dead 2, I have almost 150 hours in game already and for the price that's one hell of a deal! I have spent more on games and got bored only after a couple hours. Thou the story mode is great, I spend most of my time doing just survival run's. Keep up the amazing work your efforts are much appreciated!

But what about using a car batteries for collecting electricity during aurora so you can bring light to the house during night time? I would love to see that in the next updates, since now we can actually grab batteries from the car. Also, to make it harder for players to assemble electric circuits, you must read some literature about it, and while assembling the batteries by an unexperienced player, they can hurt you by shock or the wires would melt because of high current so you would have to find new ones. After gaining some knowledge you would be able to assemble a windmill by acquiring motors from an old machines in the workshops, so you would be independent from auroras. With that setup you can charge lamp and use other electric devices found in houses. Ps: great game, happy to see new update here, ready to acomplish new highs in survival with new gear :D

Honestly this game is an amazing game, great work you guys!!! The only two winter survival things I'd like to see added are: A) snowshoes we can craft at a certain level of crafting expertise to help with silence, stamina, and walking speed, but maybe can't sprint with them on and they'd need frequent repairs. B) Be able to craft primitive fire starting tools like a "fire-drill" with sticks and stones only once fire building skill is very high or maxed out perhaps. This would be good for late game survival, but magnifying glass offers the same thing in functionality.

This game is truly unique and the updates are fantastic. I love the artwork, especially the horizon colour pallet at dusk. This really is a game for ppl who love survival games. I think most ppl may try tld and get bored quite easily with only true survival game fans understanding and appreciating what this amazing game has to offer. I have the game for 3 or 4 years now with 100+ hrs. Im on holiday in mexico atm and plan to try the new update when i get back.

Hinterland you guys sound think about adding some new food/drink item's like hot chocolate, chicken noodle soup, etc. Hinterland I think it would be cool to ground certain meats so you could have ground venison,ground rabbit,etc. We sound be able to make venison jerky.

Fix the train track bug. Because I can't jump or for some reason even lift my feet, you get stuck on the tracks crossing the bridge in the ravine and have no choice but to jump off and die after 8 hours of searching for a rifle to finish the white out challenge.

I think you should make more dynamic maps in Sandbox. Like if you press button in "X" location while electricity is on you can activate a bridge in "Y" location.
