LOL......in the Ande"s, "Hook 'em, Horns"! Gotta love it. Those that are uninitiated, that mountain riding can get downright cold! I can appreciate some of your explanations because I've done the same, to a degree. I've ridden the Rockies and Cascades, several times. You really learn to pack the winter clothes. Also, unfortunately for many, they just can't appreciate the vastness and "majesty", as you so aptly describe, unless they are there. The 'senses' just can't be replicated by the camera. I know, I've tried! I'm surprised you haven't already had to 'tweak' the carb. My first ride into 14,000 mountains on my Harley in 2001 was a good lesson about air'/fuel mixture!! I had no clue that the Andes were so wide, and long. Man, I so understand the feeling, riding on 'good' pavement and experiencing the curves and new vistas at every turn. WOW! I love it, dude! I assume you are on Hwy 35. I've used Google Earth to try to track your route. I can't transcribe the written name to your pronunciation. Only because I don't know Spanish, I guess. The use of Google Earth has helped me pick "roads less traveled" in the past, and it is definitely showing the 'ruggedness' of where you are, and going. Hey, I mentioned on a later post on your last video, please give us your input to the night sky. I know one of the worlds top telescopes is at the observatory in Peru. Night sky has to be glorious. Maybe you will notice a different perspective to our Milky Way Galaxy than what you see in the US. I know in Korea and Vietnam the night sky looked different. Amazingly, it's noticeable. Careful, my friend.....deep valleys!!.......(actually, the observatory is in Chille. But, I assume the night sky is pretty much the same!)

Yeah, pretty strange tent to see in the middle of nowhere (ha ha)! I too have been through the Rockies many times, and although I find them amazing, I really can't compare them to the Andes. The Andes are so much larger and more daunting. So much more spectacular. The size difference alone is something amazing to behold. I can't really get a camera to show the night sky, but I will try in a place a lot less cold. It is difficult even to breath on the basin - the altitude is crazy. The highway I am on is 3S and I will stay on 3S all the way past Lake Titicaca until I reach the Bolivian border. I cannot afford to go off this highway at this altitude in the winter because my load is too heavy to take chances in this unforgiving environment - so I have to be very conservative going through the Andes. If I didn't have quite the weight on the bike I'd be taking a different route, but the goal is to get through all of South America, and that needs to be priority number 1 for now. Thank you very much for the comment and for writing me. Always good to hear from you.

It made my chilled just thinking about that cycle ride. Stay safe. “Just stock it in the crack……”LMAO

I didn't quite describe how cold I was driving. I don't think I was really prepared for the amount of wind and how chilling that wind would be. But the gloves definitely helped. Ha ha... I've watched too many episodes of The Office I think. Thanks for the comment.

13:40 hah! Winding road, little traffic, scenic views, good roads, drone shots... Love to see it. And it looks like these sunglasses are here to stay, hope I haven't jinxed that haha. Looking forward to the next one. Happy travels.

Glad you're enjoying the series. I'm trying to capture the place as best I can with the cameras but I know they aren't quite doing justice to what I can see with my eyes. Oh the sunglasses are already in the trash... I broke them putting them in my pocket. Time to find another pair LOL. Thanks for the comment!

Wish you had flown in those mountains! They were beautiful.

I do too, but the winds made it impossible.

As a GoPro user, even as good as they are, they don't capture the full experience you are witnessing as you try to capture the experience. That said, what a beautiful drive. I hope the journey doesn't end anytime soon.

Agreed. The GoPro is a fair enough camera for capturing events, but it doesn't do well to give you the full perspective. Unfortunately those and the Insta360 cameras are all I have with me. Yes, the drive was gorgeous, but it's about to get brutal... more cold, higher altitudes. But I have some cool stops along the way. The journey is not ending soon... I still have a few more countries in South America to get through (and Brazil is HUGE). Not sure what I'm going to do about Venezuela, but I'll figure that out when I get there. For now I'm just concentrating on Peru and we'll se where to go from there. It's winter now... so I have to plan carefully. Thanks for writing me!

Hey Kris Another cool adventure So what was the Texas longhorn tent used for in the middle of nowhere?
@mydogischoking6 ай бұрын
Hey Eric. Thanks! I asked the guy who had the tent (he was selling hot food and drinks from it) and he had no idea what the tent meant. I explained it was a university from the state I lived in and I thought it was ironic to see in the middle of Peru. He must have picked it up somewhere because he needed a tent, but he had no idea what it said (LOL).
