But I think that's kind of the point of the ring. For me, the ring is like "illicit substances"- very difficult to refuse or refrain from. And all the ring bearer are meant to get hooked to it. However, even in real life, Drug addicts aren't all hopeless. The fact that Frodo, a good-natured one also succumbed to the corrupting powers of the rings, for me, is a message that I don't accept. Illicit substances are indeed difficult to quit, but they are doable and possible. This is why I never liked the ending. I would rate TheLordOfTheRings 9/10 just because of that ending.

@@s-for-success-for-s In this case, it wasn't whether Gollum was redeemable or not, but the fact that people believed he could be redeemed. First with Bilbo, then with Frodo, and finally with Faramir. They all had mercy on him and possibly believed he could come back around. If it wasn't for mercy, Gollum never would have been there to take the ring and Frodo would have failed in is quest. Gollum being there because of the kindess of mercy from Eru's creations is ultimately what led him to stepping in and freeing the people of Middle Earth of Sauron. The mercy that Eru Illuvitar's (the God of this world) creations had on a person who is ultimately irredeemable inspired him to step in and push Gollum into the lava. If people would have given into their blood lust to deal out judgement that isn't really theirs to make, then Gollum would have been dead by the time Frodo made it to Mt Doom and he would have failed in his quest because Gollum wasn't there to take the ring and be pushed into the lava.

@@toky86113 I love the way Tolkien describes it: And far away, as Frodo put on the Ring and claimed it for his own, even in Sammath Naur the very heart of his realm, the Power in Barad-dûr was shaken, and the Tower trembled from its foundations to its proud and bitter crown. The Dark Lord was suddenly aware of him, and his Eye piercing all shadows looked across the plain to the door that he had made; and the magnitude of his own folly was revealed to him in a blinding flash, and all the devices of his enemies were at last laid bare. Then his wrath blazed in consuming flame, but his fear rose like a vast black smoke to choke him. For he knew his deadly peril and the thread upon which his doom now hung. From all his policies and webs of fear and treachery, from all his stratagems and wars his mind shook free; and throughout his realm a tremor ran, his slaves quailed, and his armies halted, and his captains suddenly steerless, bereft of will, wavered and despaired. For they were forgotten. The whole mind and purpose of the Power that wielded them was now bent with overwhelming force upon the Mountain. At his summons, wheeling with a rending cry, in a last desperate race there flew, faster than the winds, the Nazgûl, the Ringwraiths, and with a storm of wings they hurtled southwards to Mount Doom.

@maskedmarvyl477425 күн бұрын
I love that the focus of the entire struggle came down to Gollum leaping up and down on the precipice of Mt. Doom, with the ring in his hand. Everything came down to that moment of capricious chance. At the moment that Frodo put on the ring, Only Gollum knew how to find him and wrestle the ring from him before Frodo escaped, as he had carried it so long himself. The only thing I would have changed is that when Frodo is staring at the ring, I would have shown what he was seeing: the ring, wreathed in fire, taking up his entire field of vision, slowly rotating on the chain in hypnotic fashion, with a huge whooshing sound as the ring turned, and the words of the ring glowing brilliantly on the ring. It would make it understandable that the ring had completely taken over his mind at that point, making it impossible for him to let the ring go. Even Tolkien remarked years later, "you couldn't get rid of Gollum, could you? No matter how wretched he was, he had a central part to play in the story".

Look I'll never deny the fact that Frodo couldn’t have gotten this far without Sam and I love sam too but I really don't think Sam is the ACTUAL HERO like many people claim. Think about it, everything Sam did he did it because he genuinely loves his friend Frodo. He protects him and cares about him. Frodo was the one who agreed to carry the burden of the ring, Frodo was the one who made the brave decision to leave the fellowship ans travel alone. Frodo was the one who agreed to leave the Shire to get the ring if Gendalf. Sam is loyal, faithful, crazy courageous and protective but Frodo was fearless. He made selfles choices everytime with only one goal. And that goal was to do what's right and save middle earth. You gotta ask yourselves if Sam would have ever agreed to become the ring bearer willingly? Would he have left the shire willingly? The only thing he did willingly is follow Frodo and accompany him. Which is amazing yes but it doesn’t make him 'better' than Frodo like most people suggest.
