Holy shit, this is the most comprehensive lost anime video I've seen yet lmao. Glad to see Hazedon made the list, and so low too! I've been looking for more of it for years now. It's an Osamu Dezaki work and even being a gag anime it really shows. Glad to see so many 70s works or older here ngl.
@ZMangz Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the love!! My guess is anime from back then wasn't stored properly unless it was a huge it. Sad to see so much old school stuff lost to time, but maybe it's out there somewhere
@akumatsutranslations Жыл бұрын
@@ZMangz Thank you so much for the reply! Also as for the reasoning, ahhh, not exactly! It's mostly just an issue of studios being lazy, as well as these shows being very expensive to remaster or digitize. I left a comment on the Hazedon article, but gag anime from that time is my favorite genre/I keep up with releases from that time a lot. Likewise, recently we've seen many works even from D-tier studios like Knack (see: Chargeman Ken or Astroganger) get remasters or other "lost anime get released after decades of being missing (See: Guzura 1987 and Kaba Totto, both from Tatsunoko Pro.) Japanese Studios tend to keep hold of the original reels even if they sell off other materials like cels, scripts, or storyboards The real issue, is that for one, remastering film or even just digitizing it, is a very time consuming and specialized process. In turn, this also makes it very expensive especially on shows with high episode counts. For a show like Hazedon that might not be super popular, often, studios don't see it as worth the money when maybe only a couple people would buy it on BD or DVD.

This was grear watch as I've been really obsessed with iceberg videos as of late but ngl i was curious if The English dub of an Short film called Genbanojo would pop up since this was a project done by Houstons anime convention; anime matsuri that was lead by disgraced VA Viv Mignogna. It screened in 2022 but hasn't gotten a digital release.
@ZMangz5 ай бұрын
I'll look into it! I plan to do a lost media update video sometime later this year. that looks worth looking into!
@sunnysweetfool74995 ай бұрын
@@ZMangz I would suggest you try to get in touch with Jacob takanashi who was the leading VA for the project and has been working with the convention for years. He still has Genbanojo listed in his bio as a project he worked on so ig they're still trying to get it out. I actually used to be friends with him awhile back and he was really excited. I was actually at the con but I had misplaced my badge so I missed it I did see the qna afterwards. He told me the dub was going to be on a well known streaming service a few months after the con screening, Though that was a private convo so you do not have to take my word for it as that was over 3 years ago at this point and we don't really talk anymore.

I found this during my usual iceburg binge. You have a nice enough voice and i appreciate the humor when you talk about lost media topics, but then i heard TWEWY and NEO:TWEWY Music and well consider me a new subscriber 💖 (Also nintendo needs to make its IPs into anime again, Metroid would make a fantastic sci-fi horror, Animal Crossing shorts ft, slice of life stories, and Splatoon is right there for a sports anime-esque series)
@ZMangz Жыл бұрын
Fellow TWEWY Chad, thanks and welcome to the channel!!! We got the Zelda movie coming up, but I want a true Nintendo anime too. Fire Emblem or Xenoblade would make for sick shows imo. Same with Splatoon and Kid Icarus

Would like to see a Metroid animated series by Adi Shankar (the same guy who made the Netflix Castlevania series and is working on another one based on Devil May Cry, and is also planning an animated series based on....PUBG?!). Also, would like anime based on more obscure Nintendo IPs, too. Would like to see a kids' monster-collecting anime based on Fossil Fighters, a mature crime drama anime based on Famicom Detective Club, an anime adaptation of ARMS, anime shorts based on Nintendogs, and an anime based on Nintendo Land (for the anime, the titular theme park will originally start as a failed local theme park about to be demolished until the main protagonists meets Monita).

There's also the uncut Yu-Gi-Oh! English dub. Though it still has the voice cast from the 4Kids dub, it did however contains the original soundtrack from the Japanese version along with the script used in Japan, original sound effects, and no edits. Only a handful of episodes were made before it was sadly cancelled.
