It's kind of ironic that Inoue is compared to Pacquiao, but he uses more tools Floyd used to use.

He makes pac mans style looks 10x better. (Still early in career) but he’s much more accurate than Manny + better defense

His similarities to Pacquiao are more in his legacy and circumstances than fighting style. Asian champion blowing through multiple weight classes reminds the public of Pac-Man. Stylistically I compare him to Sugar Ray Robinson because of his dominance in the ring at all aspects of the sport. He never loses focus even when it's easy, and he remains defensibly responsible while committing heavily to his power shots which are thrown with surgeon-like precision

@@thomashightower7881Yup. Is pretty much him Representing Asian culture in Boxing and climbing multiple divisions. He’s been more dominant than pac man so far as manny had 2 losses near this point into his career (28 fights) (Inoue 25 fights currently). And I’d strongly argue Inoue up this point has faced much stronger competition, as well as having become an undisputed champion. BUT I like to add context to comparisons. And at this point I’m both their careers Manny was about 20, Inoue is about 30. And the period from ‘99 (his second loss) to ‘09 is what made manny legendary. Ten years from now Inoue would be 40. I think his ceiling is nearer than Pac’s was at this point in their careers. Roughly 25/28 fights in.

What I do in sparring. I would step back twice and reset to see if the person take the bait. Then I would step back once, the second time I would only move the back foot but not the front. Then I would bait them as if I’m taking two full step back when it’s only 1 and a 1/2 step. You can’t adjust while already in motion.

Shakur Stevenson is a master at the step back as well; he sets up his combinations and controls distance with it. Also the nature of his step back is sharp, twitchy and done all in one motion, which I try to replicate. Side note: I was watching some of Floyd's fights earlier today and in his debut, the commentary described Floyd as a power puncher with one punch knockout power. Thought that was funny since he's known as one of the best pure boxers/defensive fighters of this generation

how fast floyd can disengage is what baffled pacquiao. he could not keep up on floyd's footwork so he relied on counterpunching. with decent success until floyd adapted and countered the counters. floyd left pac confused to this day!!!

I agree, I've always wondered though. Do you think the fact that pac had already lost etc made it easier for floyd to know what to do, same with alot of the guys he's faced. I've always wondered.

Hey gems, i know you hate the ufc/boxing crossover fights and for good reason, an mma fighter is never going to beat a champion boxer in a boxing match. My question is why does the power from the UFC fighters never carry over into a boxing match? For example Conor had great power in UFC but couldnt hurt floyd. Francis is the hardest puncher in UFC history but he has mediocre power in boxing. Do you have any idea why that is?
@BoxingGems

Technical form, glove size, the person you’re punching used to punches or minimizing the impact
@3ncore706

@@BoxingGems Thanks for the reply, that all makes sense. I wonder if another factor is maybe the UFC just doesnt have as big of punchers as boxing does in general. Like maybe they just SEEM like big punchers because they’re only being compared to other mma fighters, thats just speculation on my part though.

Media does a great deal at brainwashing. Especially Arum. I can’t call it pride if I don’t see it in ring. It’s a limit of skill. I talk with my homeboy from the Bay about this a few times. He’s Mex-American and older than me. Used to be a camera guy at fights. He’s pissed that Top Rank spun up the whole Mexican warrior bs because it watered down the skill set of the Mexican community in the sport at large. But he also calls out the race War bs and said he’s been in a few incidents out in Cali cheering for “brothers” in predominantly Mexican parties.
