You know, Olivia Colman has managed to invoke a myriad of emotions from me through the varied roles she's played but never have I felt terrified of her until this trailer. Her delivery of "children are a crushing responsibility...Happy Birthday!" coupled with her facial expression in that scene gave me chills, it was so subtly sinister. Also, love that Jessie Buckley's in this as well. She blew me away in Wild Rose. Can't wait to watch this!

That used to be the point of trailers. Give you some visuals and just enough to know, without showing you the whole movie. This movie is clearly about motherhood. And is a psychological thriller. That's enough to know, especially with this amazing cast.

My guess is that this main character previously abandoned her children or thought of doing so, severely regrets her actions and current loneliness . See's the same thing in the young woman and ends up kidnapping or causing some sort of drama to teach her younger self a lesson...? Confusing trailer but I'm trying to piece some things together

One of the daughters got lost/died while at the beach. The surviving daughter's life spiraled downward as the mother neglected her because she herself failed to cope appropriately with the grief.

@alexsilva-vn7jc2 жыл бұрын
Why would it be hard to film in Spetses?
@HavingFaN2 жыл бұрын
@@alexsilva-vn7jc Well Spetses is famous for not having any cars, (and thats what makes it so otherworldly and interesting to film in I 'spose) But a feature film requires a lot of gear and a lot of it can be very heavy. So I imagine the only way they were moving from location to location is either by foot, Donkeys or mopeds and neither sound very efficient.
@alexsilva-vn7jc2 жыл бұрын
@@HavingFaN I think you might be confusing Spetses with Santorini? Spetses is in the Saronic Gulf, with the typical dry green Mediterranean landscape and an ok infrastructure. Santorini is in the Aegean, very rocky, with many donkey trails and narrow paths and with its volcanic origins, indeed has some otherworldly landscapes. I´ve been to both.
@HavingFaN2 жыл бұрын
@@alexsilva-vn7jc Haha no I don't mean Santorini. Althought I have been and lived to both of them as well :) . I imagine that you'd remeber that Santorini, although a lot of the old hill side villages are not accesible by car, the island itself has cars (this is the case for a lot of cycladic islands tho). Whereas Spetses has no personalized cars whatsoever. But it is a lot smaller too, so its deniznes dont really need them as much as the rest of the greek islands. Also both islands are in the aegean sea, not just Santrorini.
@alexsilva-vn7jc2 жыл бұрын
@@HavingFaN Well its a good 30 years since I was in Spetses, visiting a friend of my parents, and I do believe he had a car that we used to get to the beaches, but I know that the town has a no-car policy - maybe that is more recent, I don´t know. Anyway, I apologise for presuming you got confused :)And you´re right - both are in the Aegean, but Spetses doesn´t really feel like its in the Aegean proper, being so close to Athens and much more sheltered.
