Thing is, I'm a big Herbie fan, and I remember loving this movie as a kid. Also, while I would agree that Herbie: Fully Loaded had a really stupid title, I don't consider it the worst film in the series (it's actually pretty decent). That honor would go to Herbie Goes Bananas, in which we see Latin American stereotypes that even by the standards of the early 80s where painfully outdated!

its a disgrace that this film is not on Disney+ when all the other Herbies are - even that tired seventies Harvey Korman sequel
@graemesmith6721Ай бұрын
Herbie's original owner was played by Dean Jones, who was in about half the live-action Disney comedies made in the late 60s-early 70s. His crazy mechanic sidekick was played by Buddy Hackett. As in Christine, it was never explained why Herbie was self-aware. I actually prefer that to providing some bullshit explanation for it, like they did in this movie. Just fuck it, we're going there. Also, the original movie was based on a story called "Car, Boy, Girl" written in 1961.

I feel like the original idea was C-AR-T but it was too awkward, but they didn't want to scrap the idea either, they tried various ideas like art-omotive and gas-thetics and arti-stick-shift, eventually they settled on vehicul-art because it was the least terrible.

There was a period of time when this came out that ABC was remaking quite a few old Disney live action classics. The Love Bug, the Shaggy Dog, Freaky Friday, etc. They were mostly pretty good in my pre-teen opinion but I'm not sure how well they aged. ... They certainly were better than the later theatrical remakes that had Lindsey Lohan in more than one of them.

The original Love Bug is the best Disney movie by far. And that is putting it mildly. I'd go so far to say that, aside from the other original Herbie movies is the only good Disney movie. And I'm not only saying this as person who doesn't like movies in general but loves the VW Beetle fanatically, but also as someone who just happens to be correct from a neutral point of view despite not being neutral.
