Cool! I like the slow zoom in. The Lurg voice and music is made by TheMisterCat. I did the art on the Lurg (which was originally created for the box art for Star Control 2)

You did the original picture of the 'Lurg' which was on the SC2 box??? Was it supposed to be an Ur-Quan or was it something different?

@@yourforestmoments9800 Whoever made that box art definitely meant it to be the Ur-Quan, even though the art looked nothing like them, but that's part of why the Lurg are so cool. To me, it's an attempt to incorporate the box art into the story. You could call it foreshadowing the Lurg.

@@kennethcraig9228It also fits in with the 6014 lore that the Lurg were a species that had its proverbial finger in every historical pie (Diverting the Mycon away from Earth in the 1100s, being able to see the humans fighting amongst themselves under the Ur-Quan's slave-shield, etc.). The box art, with Lurg context, implies that what's happening in the game is part of their master plans.

This music both fits their malevolent demeanor and Star Control at the same time. Well done! I have like 3 copies of the first 2 games, and yes I do have 3 although I'm not a fan which is pretty typical for most fans of the series.

Seems a mix of Ur-Quan, VUX n Umgah maybe. The pixels smell modernized yet kept to the original, good juice, i dance to that.

Sadly this project got stalled indefinitely...from what I heard, partially due to archaic code inherited from SC2. Would have been a great alternative sequel to SC3 (ok, SC3 had some good moments, but a lot of it was just not right, they got everything wrong, why does the Sa-Matra look like the LOVEBOAT there?)

I personally liked the storyline of SC3, but yeah, the structure of the game was fucked. Reused dialogue, mispronounced names of alien races, goofs here and there in the gameplay, the cheap bit about ortogs being precursors, etc. If Project 6014 was finished, it would have been cool to have another game after that which would take place near the Galactic Core with the Orz as the main antagonist. Also as a tidbit the Slylandro would be fully uplifted by then and have their own ships and colony/colonies, and be able to come to the Core with other members of the NAFS. :) Gas bags FTW!

On one hand, love that the boxart alien is getting some use. On the other hand, was never a fan of the whole "haha the main game bad guy you fought was a total wuss, I could kill him just like that now lol" thing in fan mods.

Nah, Lurg can only talk big, they are in fact trash comparing to Ur-Quan, and that was hinted in mod IIRC

I think it's cause the previous ones were defeated to a point that they can only serve as remnants and more as occasional raiders. Not that I dislike the Ur-Quan races, but they still cannot rebuild their strength that fast compared to last time and they don't have access to battle thralls in this continuation.

I think that's where the inspiration is. The original picture was probably supposed to be an Urquan.....devised by someone who never actually played the game nor read the description! I am thankful someone made a race of it!

They couldn't be a battle thrall, since they were ignored by the ur-quan for good reasons.

They are extremely evil because they are parasites.

In the mod they were evil brain parasites that could control the actions of others (like Plankton in that Spongebob episode) through those lava lamps, the background is actually a brain it's sitting on, which is why they were sinister and got away with being unnoticed One of the arcs was the Kohr-Ah remnants are being manipulated by a Lurg infesting their leader to have them attack things on their behalf and I think you were able to get the Kohr-Ah to kill the leader or something after proving he was infested

Checked it, technically marvelous work... i hope yout take the following for positive critic. You seem to have lacked the esprit to dig into comming up with "brand new", to not "waste the game"... sticked to mixing elements allready into... and, very honorable: added a syreen brothel.
