okay but I think one of the scariest thing about this podcast is that, for something based on the supernatural, it is terrifyingly realistic. The people who give statements are almost never acting stupidly in their situation. It isn't like a horror movie where you scream at the characters for being so idiotic. They're all normal people who do what most of us would do in their experiences, but yet things still don't usually turn out well for them. And that is pretty frickin Scary to me

What if that thing the old soldier encountered under Alexandria was some sort of library spirit, and it can appear/has power in places where large collections of knowledge are kept organized (normally this would only be libraries but the Archives would also qualify)?If Gertrude knew about it and knew what it was she might have taken steps to prevent against it.

But i mean, being trapped in a hateful box that keeps getting smaller is SO much worse isnt it?
@evagrev73512 жыл бұрын
My theory from this episode and what we know so far: The box had rules, like the coffin of "do not open" has rules too. For this box, the rules are to not touch its inside, maybe even not touch it at all. Salesa even tried to warn him afterwards, "don't fall asleep", so it truly was an accident, he didn't want for the witness to suffer like he did. But after he touched the box, Salesa was now in front of an opportunity to make a deal out of it, and the deal was with Lukas. I believe the witness's Alzheimer and the money Lukas gave to Salesa are connected, 'cause once the witness touched the box he became a potential object for sale as well, and whether he was indeed worth of a trade or not was solely dependent on whether he would survive the box's curse or not. I don't know what the thing of him that Lukas bought could have been though. Now, as I said the box has rules. You can't touch it. Once you do, the next time you fall asleep you then end up inside it. Since there are parallels with the coffin, I believe that the reason he shouldn't have fallen asleep was because, once he did, he actually sleepwalked towards the box and inside of it, like the witness in the first season almost did lots of times and how daisy's partner went inside the coffin willingly after he opened it. Once you enter the box, it works as a portal and you're in a different dimension; the fact that the witness has spend 4 days inside and his clock was working just fine with him while, in our dimension, it was only one night, proves it. What I don't know is why the witness was left out. Did he pass a "test" and was deemed to be released? Or did Salesa and Lukas freed him themselves in order to make the deal between them? From what he hear in this episode, I believe that there was a process going on in order for the box to fully "eat" him, like, the box wanted for the witness to reach a certain state or certain point, and only after that to fully "own" him, but Salesa and Lukas interrupted the process, which resulted in us thinking they saved him, but actually they just did it for their own personal goals. As for Gertrude, we were hinted that she was the one trying to find and buy the Leitner books from the first episode were they were mentioned, because that's where he heard for the first time the nickname "grbookworm1818". But that and her buying all these explosive items make us question whether she was trying to do good by obtaining the books so no bad guy will and using the materials to burn and destroy locations of the bad guys, or if she was trying to obtain power from the books and using the materials to destroy the ones who would be in her way. We also don't know if she was getting the books and the explosive materials as a pawn of a supernatural entity or as a player herself.

@pyrosianheir3 жыл бұрын
Did Salesa actually put him in the box or was it Lukas? The was Salesa acted after, and the warning against falling asleep makes me wonder if he just knew what was coming, rather than being the one who caused him to be put in there. Edit: I'm also VERY curious about whether his brush with... whatever that box was, is what caused Vincent to get hit with the Alzheimers, or if it's just natural...
@birdbrainiac3 жыл бұрын
He didn't cause it. It was a cursed artefact, and anyone who touches it in certain place gets transported into it when they next sleep. Notice how Salesa was careful not to touch the box when he helped the guy out. Then he and the captain made a bet on whether he was in the box, or whether he survived - no way to know which, but I'm guessing the latter.

Lots of people named early on gain a kind of mystique because they're encountered by a terrified statement giver. Then we actually meet them, and that mystique evaporates. Leitner is _the_ best example. Both Jon and Gerard Keay have a built up, larger than life expectations of Leitner, but when they meet him, he's underwhelming and in Gerard's case he doesn't actually believe it's really Leitner.

Which episode was selasa from, again? I swear. You gotta take notes for this series cuz I'll hear names and references from previous episodes but I'll forget.

I notice that Yang said he prayed to God, then the devil, and then Salesa. I feel like that foreshadow that Salesa may be some sort of entity of his own 👀

is "disorientate" how folks in the UK say disorient or something? it throws me off every time and they say it so much in this series lol.

Disorientate is the original word before Americans shortened it. They’re basically the same word
@Idran2 жыл бұрын
@@emilybarclay8831 other way around actually! :D Orient came from French and originally meant "point at the east". It first popped up in that meaning in English in the early 18th century, with orientate (with that same original meaning) first popping up a few decades later via "orientation" and people treating it analogously to "origination". (Back then "origin" could be used as a verb meaning the same thing as "originate" does today, but people did the same backformation to coin the word "originate", and in that case it displaced that usage of "origin" entirely.) And they both shifted to mean "point in a particular direction" about a century later at around the same time, which is also when you start seeing disorient/disorientate.

You lost me at "I could see my watch" after describing him in his pajamas in this one. Nobody wears their watch in bed, way too easy to either hurt yourself in your sleep.

I went to sleep cuddling my open computer, I woke up with my hand grabbing the screen tightly so it won’t fall. I know people who sleep with their inconvenient jewelery so this is plausible if you sleep like the dead and nothing bothers you.

Eh, Ive fallen asleep with my watch on plenty of times. Granted a lot of those times i was also falling asleep in my khakis and hadn't changed into my pajamas before conking out, but this is still very possible if you change clothes earlier in the evening. Also im guessing it was more of a plastic sports watch with little to no pointy edges.

Idk this is my first time but could a lot of supernatural things cause high temperatures because they can often be destroyed by fire and they want to make the victims wary of heat? Like, the only cold (that I can recall) is from man-made or natral things. Most supernatural things can apparently be killed by fire (vampires, the bug things, lightner books) Idk tho it doesn't help that it's oppressively hot recently
