What always gets me about the “we gotta sell toys” argument is that if you just make it good, the toys will fly off the shelves. That’s what the writers of the ‘80s G.I. Joe cartoon felt, for instance (and most of them spent much of the ‘70s writing for Marvel Comics). Whenever an exec (ESPECIALLY if it’s a toy exec) starts making story decisions for a movie or TV show or whatever in order to sell merch, it always gets worse and ends up poisoning the well, which leads to worse movies and poor toy sales.
@GarrettCRW11 ай бұрын
@@thenightstar8312 Funny, because as I mentioned in my initial comments, that’s not how the writers of the G.I. Joe cartoon felt. Steve Gerber (creator of Howard the Duck at Marvel in the ‘70s), who had plenty of ill words for his time in animation, was generally proud of his Sunbow work, to name one example. I’d spend more time on your woefully late reply, but I sense that you hate the bulk of ‘80s US TV animation out of hand and really aren’t worth my additional effort in discussing the merits of basically ANY show of the era.

Where every year there's a new cast of characters, disconnected from everything else, each (usually) played by a new actor. Sure the actors are know, and obviously there's crossover movies or sequels years after the fact, but for the most part, toku fans are used to seeing new character every year. Which is so vastly different from what America wants. They want the same characters they're used to, continuously playing in a different play place

I feel like some members of the creative committee should have stayed obviously the A**holes were rightfully kicked out, but without someone else to bounce his ideas and control off Feige just kept on thinking he could do no wrong. At one point seeing the successes he had with movies after the creative committee I would thought yeah he is always completly right, but that 3 year period (meaning from 2016 to 2019) of euphoria ended and reality is creeping in for fans. Feige isn't bad but he is just like Lucas or M night people who need other people (whether good or bad) to nudge in the right direction. P.S I knew from beginning there was no 10 year plan as Feige & other fanboys proclaimed.
