Amazing interview - I teared up when he talked about how his wife believed in him. It's 100% true - having a partner who you meet before you've had great success, who walks through hell with you and keeps telling you you're going to make it - that's the type of person so many of us want in our lives.

I have been blessed with my wife in that exact way, and you cannot even imagine what both of us have been through before we climbed out. From paralysis, to borderline homelessness, to now being in a position to swipe the card for other, less privileged peoples' groceries. This kid has been on an emotional journey, most people can only dream of living through. He has lived a full life at 36. MOST people wouldn't live a full life if you provided them with 200 years. I turned 50 grand into 2 million with my family telling me I’m wrong to daytrade. I head and still have no support from my family as I feel they’re actually envious which does happen. Now all I do is watch KZbin and do anything I please as much family has to work for their dreams. They won’t take my advice on health or nutrition and just keep doing what they like which is watching Netflix and TikTok. I used KZbin to self educate myself on finances and know more than my friends who have degrees in finance. They have no idea about being speculative and are happy with their S&P gains. Now as I watch this I’m validating myself as no one is doing it for me. Great video

What he said about experiencing sales is so right. I worked a door to door sales job selling gas and electric all around the UK solely commission after I dropped out of University. Everyone laughed and mocked it, but I learned so much about people, resilience, body language, wants and needs, it was tough (100% not nice doing it in the snow either lol) but I felt more free than I ever did because I was learning MORE on the field than I was paying you £9000 a term in a classroom. I think people severely underestimate the effect of authoritarian parent-child relationships. I resonate so deeply with his struggle stepping away from what his dad wanted for him. I experienced the same with my mother, and it f*cked me up mentally for years. The guilt, the shame, the feelings of self-doubt… and then the subsequent blaming of your parent for not feeling safe to express your authentic self in the first place… phew. It’s heart-breaking once you recognize that your parent only sees you as an extension of themselves vs a living, breathing individual with your own aspirations.

Engrossing and fascinating. Alex's honesty and straight talking - combined with your insightful questions - made this one of the best episodes so far. I love how you listen, process and then ask a pertinent question. Keep 'em coming Steve! Wonderful!

This crazy how parallel our stories are… different industry and not as much money but amazing to hear this story. Im in the trenches and need to hear this rn. Thank you Alex.

This show just changed my life. Maybe even this episode specifically. how do you get motivated to change? “For me? I hated my current existence” “change happens when the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of making a change”. Wow, I can finally put it into words.

Absolutely fantastic interview! Steven does an excellent job letting the guest speak while asking insightful questions and tying in relevant insights from past guests, books, and his own experiences. Alex comes across as incredibly genuine, answering questions thoughtfully and sharing relatable stories and motivating perspectives. The conversation flows seamlessly with no dull moments an absolute pleasure to watch and listen to. Kudos guys!

Loved how you understand your audience, and acted as our voice to ask Alex the questions that we would love to hear about. For me, it was about what his partner meant to me in his time of self doubt, and his advice on self belief and taking the leap. Absolutely amazing episode.

I’ve been Alex for years and can confirm that he is changing for the better. He initially came off as cold and heartless, but now he’s learned that there’s more to it than getting what you want out of people. Love to see it 👏🏽

I’m not sure what was more surprising.. The fact that Steven was able get Alex to open up on a more emotional level… Or the fact that Alex is actually wearing pants and shoes vs shorts and crocs 😂 Love this one !

Unbelievable interview with Alex VERY informative. Even better was Alex genuinely opening up about his early life & journey to success. His reflection on his father, wife believing in him, & perseverance. Growing up surrounded by overwhelming violent neighborhood, a 4 yr veteran w/ 2 deployments, recently 30 yr retired fire fighter Captain in DC area, & new fitness & boxing gym owner. Exactly what needed to hear & see. Outstanding my friend & Alex & his wife truly inspiration for my own wife & I. I definitely relate to him on the wife part.🙏🏾

I can relate to this 1000% especially the part about not wanting to wake up. I’m so glad he was so transparent because I’ve shared this with people that just didn’t get it, I dont blame them for that but you do tend to feel like it’s only you feeling this way.

49:00 way to go! I was in a guitar shop in Barcelona when I was young and wanted to play classical guitar. I asked the owner of the shop if I practiced 8 hours a day for 4 years would I be able to play classical guitar, and he said , "Yes." So that's what I did, and he was right!! Know the outcome you want and then seriously understand and commit to the input.

Dude Alex is so smart. The way he answered “do you believe in yourself” He didn’t want to say yes because I feel he knows that one doesn’t “believe” in oneself. You know yourself. Belief is for religion. Knowing yourself is for reality.
@mariannasakkadas1168 Жыл бұрын
I really appreciated the way he answered that too. For me it was refreshing to hear a more pragmatic answer than the usual hippy, self-help esoteric responses this kind of question invites. His philosophy of life comes down to three or four basic truths that he consistently highlighted so it became a bit repetitive when Stephen insisted on asking existential questions :D

I know the feeling of having a parent who only wants a certain kind of you and not you. It’s terrible to be a child loving such a person. I hope that with his wife and freedoms he finds his serenity! Such an interesting man, thank you for the episode, Steven!
@jumbroni6014 Жыл бұрын
Have you ever considered your parent had pain in their childhood and that led to them treating you that way? Have you considered that they acted that way for you and not to hinder you? Have you ever considered telling your parent how they make you feel? Parents are just people like you and I. Alot of children hold grudges over mistakes that any other could also make. Maybe your parents actions kept you on a path? It seems they care deeply for you. A child's perception of a parent is just that. Because they've never patented. Judge them only after you have parented. Then you'll understand much better.

I agree with the OP. It sounds like his father was a toxic tiger parent. Good on him for standing up to his father. Never live your lost dreams through your children. It molds you into something 9 times out of 10 you'll be unhappy with. Thank God my parents weren't this way.

I relate to this whole father and son scene he just told, it's just that I couldn't make it upto my father as he passed away, I couldn't make him proud nor get my closure and make things work, guess everybody are not the same and deserving, but I bet on one experience if parents staying on your side love them or if they are against you still love them with patient and respect, we are in this world through them. Everything happens for a reason ...
@JackieOdonnel Жыл бұрын
I have no doubt that your father would be proud of you NOW. I think in the afterlife (if you believe in that--I do) we continue to learn and grow and watch our loved ones with pride. Just a thought. No disrespect if you don't believe that sort of thing. I've just read/watched too many stories about near-death experiences (NDEs) and so I fully believe we go on, and we are all still connected.

He's in tearing upbecause all he wanted was a little encouragement (from his dad), someone who believed in him. He found that in this wife instead. And he's right, I think that's what most of us want and need.. encouragement. It's the same thing that's making Jordan Peterson tear up every time it gets brought up. There are so many men (and women) out there that never got any encouragement and it's truly sad. The best thing you could ever do with your life right now, is to inspire and encourage the people around you. That's all you have to do.

People find what they are into/good at, and have their passion, motivation to work very hard at it. Couple that with the support they get along the way...That's the difference between those that make it and those that don't. That's it...this interview is just another example of such a person.
