Lol rapper were into fashion way before bape dude. Run dmc made their own song my adidas back in the 80's. Dapper dan was doing custom gucci and Louis Vuitton shit for all the big name rapper in the 80's and 90's! Massive respect to nigo and everything he has done but saying he got rapper into fashion is pretty far fetched dude.
@THECASUALco7 жыл бұрын
While you are correct, hip-hop had not hit critical mass and popularity until well after the golden age of the 80's. To say that Bape wasn't a part of the silver age of hip-hop 90's-early 2000's is the stretch. Maybe if we had said that Bape came around the time that social media and entertainment was coming into its own and as such the spread of trends was with much more veracity would have been a better. But it should be noted that In the 80's urban hip-hop enthusiasts were primarily concentrated in the inner cities, whereas in the 90's, specifically 94 and beyond hip hop culture hit critical mass and every one (the masses) was involved. We respect what Dapper Dan and others have done for hip-hop BUT "hype" was cultivated as much in Japan with Bape & Nigo as anywhere else.

THE CASUAL couldn't agree more dude so true!
@gl70116 жыл бұрын
I have to agree with skip. Bape and Nigo was never truly a driver or prime mover of hip hop fashion. I think the more accurate description would be Nigo was the biggest beneficiary of what was already a heightened awareness of fashion and style within Hip Hop culture. I think back to the days of LL COOL J and TROOP collaboration. TROOP was right there with CROSS COLORS, and FUBU. These early hip hop fashion brands are what created the environment into which Nigo stepped and capitalized. I also remember how conscious B BOYS were of how they looked and how fly their fit was back then. The Kangol hats, the ski goggles, the NO laced shoes, The Wide Fat shoe laces, The Nanny Goat furs, The Sheep Skin coats, The Levi jean & Jacket combos, The Dooky Chains, The custom airbrushed t shirts. Fashion has always been a huge part of Hip Hop.
@anthonyperez3976 жыл бұрын
He didn’t say that rappers weren’t into fashion before bape. He said Nigo drove the market for exclusive street wear hype by scaling down the supply vs the demand of his garments. This was adopted by Supreme, Jordan, Nike...

Hey Reggie. I doubt you will respond, but I am doing a report over sustainability in fashion and was wondering if Human made had a reputation of being sustainable or ethical? I can’t find anything online. If anyone can help that would be great thanks.
@THECASUALco4 жыл бұрын
Human Made is partially made by a company called Warehouse. Co here in Japan. In Japan sustainability is a newer concept however with smaller labels like Human Made collections are rather small and extremely limited. Many labels including human made have a healthy habit of not over producing product. Which, in of itself, is a form of sustainable production.

i don't think the rappers/entertainments make it difficult for the upcoming designs than it already is. HOWEVER, they are a BIG help to new designs who could be their friends or maybe they just like the brand (like Kanye wearing ASSC) to jump start their brand to stardom. It's getting increasingly hard for brands to be recognized these days because there's a new brand coming up every other day and quite honestly, nothing really much stands out in this saturated field. there's so much a designer needs to cover and EXCEL in order for the brand to get its recognition...
