Disney Plus really doing Star Wars justice with this one when we already get a filler episode in the 2nd episode of the series. But what did you think of what you saw? The dark saber is ment to rule over all mandalorians and unit them. If she wields it then that means she would technically be ruling over the outliers she doesn't care for and sense they uphold tradition they'd have to listen to her sense she would be the rightful air in their eyes.

Then The Mandalorian just went and ran with it, adding more unnecessary garbage to the Darksaber. And the funny thing, when it initially came out in The Clone Wars, it didn't even have this reverence. Hell, Bo-Katan's boss, Viszla didn't even treat it with such reverence. It was initially treated more like a war trophy his ancestors took from the Jedi Temple in the Old Republic Era. This is why Lucasfilm needs someone keeping canon straight, but they missed that aspect 10 years ago. Now their canon is screwed beyond repair and no one even bothers because no one working there cares about canon. Not even Filoni, nor Favreau who was the bloody voice of Viszla. If the people behind these shows don't care, why should the audience.

They didn't erase what came before they just added a new mechanic that still functions to this day as it's suppose to. It's be different if they established it in rebels then were like, "nah lol that's not a thing anymore". They didn't do that, what they established in regards to wielding it is still the same factor it was before. It also doesn't break cannon in any way as it's previous owners consisted of a high up mandalorian(someone who fits the bill for a wielder) and Darth maul (someone who would know a thing or two about lightsabers and that he also fit the bill for a wielder)

My argument isn't even they erased what came before, it's every addition they place on the Darksaber doesn't match what came before. I didn't even mention Maul because he didn't gain leadership via the Darksaber. He did it dueling Viszla in traditional Mandalorian one-on-one combat duel, and won fair and square that even Viszla took the loss really well for a man that's about to die. While Bo-Katan didn't because in her words "No outsider shall rule Mandalore". Despite said outsider did it under Mandalorian tradition. Essentially the additions don't "erase", they just make the universe less consistent with every addition they put into the story. Making the story more like an anything goes deal, that in turn removes stakes, and drama. As Lucas said when making Star Wars, if there are no stakes, why should the audience care. It is why I don't like how Beskar is utilized. It is physical plot armor manifested that really removes the sense of Mando being in danger. If Beskar was treated like actual armor, he should have suffered badly with bruises and a few broken bones, especially a broken leg from that Protodeka. But that isn't how Lucasfilm treats it. But I'm sure you'll twist my words, if not out right put words in my mouth again just because you don't really have an actual logical answer to counter without utilizing dishonest means.

@@strategicperson95 This is what happens when you get too mired in your own lore and continuing things on a small scale rather than making a sweeping change. Disney initially had the right idea with the sequel trilogy to create a completely new era only loosely connected to the previous one, but they completely bungled the handoff from old to new and their new stuff wasn't 1/10 as interesting, in any event. Mando was best in season 1, as well, where it was fresh and completely it's own thing and the more it brings in well-worn characters and situations from other projects, the more it gets bogged down in either making lore inconsistent or being creatively handcuffed.

I watched the part where it looks like he was pulled into the living water and I don't think he was pulled. I still feel like I'm being extremely charitable but when you look at the stairs when Bo-Katan dives in and wen they come out you can see that the stairs are broken and Mando is wearing a full set of heavy metal armor. I'm fairly certain he just stepped and fell in thinking there was going to be more steps. Still goofy as hell if that is what really happened but it makes more sense than the mythosaur pulling him in, forgetting about him and waiting for its close-up.

1) The N1's astromech droid socket was replaced with a habitable second seat yet somehow can still slot an astromech droid? 2) The ship has sensors that can detect whether or not the droid is still there but it can't detect whether or not an atmosphere is habitable? 3) Mando opened the canopy on the ship to get out without knowing if the atmosphere was breathable and Grogu not having any other means to breathe while the canopy was open, and upon opening the canopy, letting out all the breathable atmosphere from inside the ship? 4) Mando's helmet is advanced enough to provide him with breathable atmosphere but isn't advanced enough to tell him whether or not the atmosphere around him is breathable? This is absolute nonsense...

1. The only thing added was a sealed bowl on top to allow a life form to sit inside the astromech port 2. Ships being able to detect ships and other electronics to shoot them down, that doesn’t have any relation to checking the purity of the air 3. Din literally tells grogu to get in his pod which is in the cockpit with them, and then grogu only comes up after the cockpit is closed… 4. Take it up with George lucas, that was how helmets such as storm troopers have always worked since the initial concept art, they let them breathe in space and that’s all they do. 5. All of these concepts have been apart of the Star Wars universe since it’s inception, if you find it dumb that’s whatever, but that’s the sandbox the show works in.

14:48 - you skipped over a funny editing mistake. The EXACT SAME shot of Bo Katan walking alongside Grogu is repeated 3 TIMES in a row! 2 times from slightly different angles and one distorted shot from the camera spliced between them. It's ridiculous! This show became so cheap editors had to start reusing the same shots multiple times within the same episode to fill the time! Notice that most of this episode is just Mando slowly walking through a cave and then later Bo Katan walks slowly through the exact same locations. Why tf are we watching all of this? It's as if the showerunners ran out of the budget and had to milk every single set for as long as possible.

Easiest way I can describe it is like this. To have mastery over the weapon, the wilder must work with it. If you try to force it, it'll essentially fight back making it difficult to use. Mele weapons aren't a huge part of Mando's move set either. Hell he had trouble using a spear, nevermind something like the dark saber

Arent example sword is suppose to be light so that the user can attack easily, make quick deflect and mobile, but this dark saber is heavy slow. In Boba Fett show, the big juggernaut mandalorian (im gonna call him a big guy)and din were fighting. The big guy pick up the dark saber and swing the saber so slowly that din able to win because of that stupid saber. Even din have a hard time swing the saber and the big guy can win the fight if he didnt pick up the stupid saber. (That fight was really stupid btw).

So, Grogu jumps out of his floating basket into the ship and goes after Bo-Katan. And then *poof* the basket appears in her ship on the way back. Jedi giant cup trick?

23:40 - the way this whole scene is shot and edited is just hilarious. So Mando suddenly disappears under the water. It's not shown what happened but there are 2 options: 1. He stepped off a steep edge and fell into deep water. 2. The beast living in the water dragged him in. And what's funny is that neither option makes sense! Mando could not have just fallen into the water on his own because Bo Katan jumped to save him like 3 seconds later and she needed to use her booster for like 20 seconds to reach the bottom. There is no way Mando would naturally fall to the very bottom in this time. And there is no reason why he wouldn't be able to just swim up on his own! But if the monster grabbed him, it also doesn't make sense because Bo Katan finds Mando lying on the bottom on his own. The beast isn't currently holding onto him! We literally have a shot suggesting that the beast is only now awakening. AFTER Bo Katan picks Mando up from the bottom. So that would mean the beast fkin yeeted Mando to the bottom, released him for no reason, fell asleep and woke up 20 seconds later when Bo Katan was picking up Mando. It didn't try to eat Mando or kill Mando. No... It just yeeted him to the bottom and pi**ed off. Who tf wrote this script?

Mando was taking steps down and didn't realize there was a steep fall underwater. He probably lost consciousness due to exhaustion and whatever that robot did to him earlier. The monster didn't drag him. However, the movie makers made a huge mistake implying he just fell to the bottom of the lake in split seconds.

Tbh I didn't think that the monster pulled Mando down, I just assumed that there was a hole or a cliff edge and he fell in and his armor dragged him down since he'd taken off his jet pack. Space-Cthulhu was just sleeping down there, didn't react to the falling lump of metal but was awakened by Katan and her jet pack but still was still too sleepy for breakfast and couldn't be bothered.

Good Job! I think it is important to point out two other things. A) that Yoda told Luke in Empire Strikes Back, that size did not matter when using the Force. He also said that 'There is no try. Do or do not." Yet we see Baby Yoda 'try' to open the cage that held Mando. B) John and Dave have--they said--always had a plan to 'distract' the angry fans of Star Wars (after Last Jedi) and do a series of series that would lead directly to the sequel trilogy. To do that they chose the vague name Mandalorian (hinting that he would be Boba Fett) as the title of the first series. We see in this episode the clearest indication that Pedro is going to be phased out, and Bo will become the Real Mandalorian. As further proof we see that Pedro is NOT the hero in this show, he is the 'damsel in distress' so that Bo can be transformed into the Real Heroine as the Mandalorian.

A pretty weird claim because Filoni recently told the Hollywood trades that Grogu doesn't necessarily need to appear in he sequel era and might in a different location at the time. What Favreau and Filoni don't do is intentionally antagonise the fandom. Instead they try to include everyone. I don't think they are interested in linking up to the sequels, especially given that their shows feel nothing like the sequels or Kenobi.

So basically to the "modern" mandalorians the living waters were just a fancy name and Mandalore the grate is just a legends. Soo mandalore the ultimate, the great Mandalore helmet which I think would have made short work of this honor and clan stuff and so much more are just legends to them. But the Dark Saber which is what I think the greatest insult as a symbol of leadership is somehow everything. And insult to injury instead of going to train with Luke to use the dark saber Mando will just hold on to it without any way to use it properly, ow and Mando forgot about his friend the assasin droid too. These writers do forget a lot about universe rules and continuity.

I was baffled by this episode. 1. We need IG-11. No we don't, any astromech droid will work fine, except when I say it won't, except when I change my mind 15 seconds later. 2. For some reason, interplanetary space ships don't have built-in sensors to see if the atmosphere is safe to breathe. Bit of an oversight, IMO. 3. Astromech droids are basically shaped like a barrel with 2 legs on the side. Except when they are in Mando's back seat which has no space for their legs. I guess they jus take them off and store them in the trunk. Except when they leave the ship, they have their legs again. 4. Mando is an awesome fighter. Except when he isn't, which is very often. Take on 5 armed pirates? No problem. Then lose a fight to 1 droid. Because script. 5. Grogu can fly to the moon, find Bo-Katan, wait for the astromech to be downloaded, fly back, lead Bo-Katan at a casual stroll through miles of caves, all to urgently rescue Mando in less time than it takes that droid monster to activate his machine and stick a tube in Mando's butt. 6. Bo-Katan is a way better fighter than Mando. Of course. She should have her own show. 7. Giant sea monsters attack without making a ripple. Then they drop their food. Then they let little people steal their food and don't care. I mean, I haven't met many giant sea monsters, but yea, this seems like how they would do things. 8. Mandolorian jet packs have unlimited fuel even though they have no interior space for fuel. I guess they burn air? 9. Baby buggies have headlights, invisible jet packs, unlimited fuel, internal atmosphere containment, and turbo mode. 10. This episode is stupid. I like Mando. There is potential for a good character here. I like Bo-Katan. I especially like Katee Sackhoff. I even like little Grogu. It's a shame that the writers created a story for 7-year-olds that makes no sense and set it in a world with more magic and monsters than Harry Potter, with even less physics.

If I'm walking out into dark water in a dark cave, planning to fully submerge myself, wearing armor so heavy that I will die if trip or step into a deep spot, then I'm shining a light on the pool's floor, tapping it with a stick, shuffling my feet slowly, making sure of perfect solid footing with each step, and using a safety line to the shore just in case anything goes wrong. Or keeping my jetpack on so I can jet out of he water instead of drowning. So basically Mando died twice today in his own show and was rescued by Bo-Katan twice. Is this now the Bo-Katan show? Is it possible for script writers to put a hero in peril for reasons other than their own stupidity and/or failure, and if so, can that hero solve their own problems without being endlessly rescued by everybody else? I'm not sure anymore.

Yep. Lots of drooling nerds when the 2000’s BSG was running. Personally I never saw the appeal. I was a Claudia Black guy myself.

Anybody has a take on these mandos new ship related problems: How does mando open up the canopy and leaving breathable air inside the n1 starfighter or where does grogu retreat to? (assuming at this point the atmosphere was not breathable) If its the cradle like capsule: how does that even fit in a roughly formula 1 car sized fighter? How did baby yoda traverse from the back of the fighter to the front in the previous episode? From Story-Telling POV: Why do they set up this cute coppola in the back previously to just retrofit it again to become a droid port? They might have well make him get a portable mini droid for this mission or get a scanner upgrade for his ship or something... I believe the n1 was a bad choice for a vehicle for mando and his needs, despite being am iconic and beautifully designed ship.

The fireworks were for "Boonta eve." Which is kinda weird because doesn't Anakin say the big pod race being held a Boonta eve in episode 1? So location or Holliday perhaps..

It's funny. I hear there has been vociferous discussion between Disney Star Wars "fans" as to which is better; The Madalorian or Andor? To my mind that's rather like asking "Would you rather eat horse or dog poo?" I guess horse poo would be marginally less disgusting, but given any choice at all I'd eat neither. Oh, and in a universe where droids are more common than vacuum cleaners the idea that any droid part would be so hard to find is laughable.

Did the mythasaurus rex actually do anything? I think he writer just forgot about water buoyancy. Mando just walked off a hidden cliff and fell like he was in air.

Dude is wearing probably 50+ lbs of super steel, a jetpack at least 20+ lbs, and a utility belt with tools:he'd sink like that. BUT...he IS wearing a jetpack, so he could have escaped like her, but I also think we are supposed to infer that giant sea creature grabbed him, then...let go?

@@theelder4797 They had him take off the jet pack. Nothing could sink through water that quickly. Whichever it was, it was a poorly done scene.
