“Discount Mace Windu” is actually Ahmed Best… the guy who played JarJar. This wasn’t about finding a Samuel lookalike but giving Ahmed a chance to play a competent Jedi and not a clown character people hated. He has also played this character in other media. As the poor guy nearly had his life destroyed playing Jar Jar, this is actually a pretty nice move to include him like this.

The Mandalorians are portrayed so poorly. Was hoping for them to be like Jango Fett, Jaster, and the True Mandalorians, or even like Pre Vizsla, but no, they’re a bunch of imbeciles who fight like a bunch of Disneyfied Power Rangers. The drop in quality from the first 2 Seasons to The Book of Boba Fett aka The Mandalorian 2.5 and Season 3 has been huge. This season has been the definition of mid, and Din is getting the Boba treatment now. Kathleen Kennedy has found her next Rey Skywalker, aka Bo Katan. As mid as TBOBF and Kenobi, mostly the cinematography, all the daylight shots are too over-exposed and too bright, making everything look and feel cheap, not to mention the costumes for the new mandalorians look goofy and too Power Rangers-esque, and Grogu's jumping movements in this episode are pretty stiff and weird, and the music isn't as perfect as season 1 and 2, and it doesn't help the Ludwig Goransson doesn't score this season anymore, but yeah, i agree the show is still struggling.

There is one good thing to say for the episode. Thank the Force that Anakin Skywalker wasn’t in the flashback 😓. I was scared to death they were going to do that out of some misguided fan service attempt, like the Kenobi show did. And they do not need to be taking any more potshots at the character’s badassery reputation. Had Anakin been in close enough proximity to Grogu to be on camera,then Grogu would not have survived.

How the scene with the armorer should have ended was with the Armorer blowing off Bo Katan, as she does. Then, speaking quietly, she asks for someone to bring Din Djarin in for some light questioning. Obviously, he didn't see it, but recalls how odd her questions sounded after he was rescued. Why HAD she asked if he'd seen anything alive down there? He doesn't say this to the Armorer, merely replying that he hadn't seen anything. The episode ends with Din sitting down next to Bo Katan and watching her laugh with her new found friends, slowly realizing she's a real threat. (they have the time to do all this and since it's literally just talking, the money to do so as well)

The kid being Big Mando's son raises some questions; First, do Mando's still have to keep their Helmets on when they're bumping uglies? Man that must be awkward. Second and more importantly though, didn't he say there are only 3 of us left in BoBF? Meaning him, Mando, and Blacksmith lady? So did he not know he had a son or something? Is he adopted? Wouldn't it be nice if this show actually spent some time developing these characters?

The underlining problem is still there though, the writers haven't bothered to develop these characters and their relationship at all so I don't really care about any emotional payoffs involving them. I know absolutely nothing about Big Mando except that he's a Mando, he's big, and he carries a chain gun. I'm aware he has a name but I don't care enough to look it up. So the best reaction I can come up with for this is "oh that was his son, that's nice I guess."

But I meant that they kept on referring to that child as a foundling, which would make him an orphan. So he would only be PV's adopted son. You know, this episode was already pretty bad, just for a few reasons: - the training scene at the beginning was incredibly cringy and “learning skills at summer camp”, it felt like. Why are Mandalorian’s just shooting randomly into the water? Isn’t that a waste of resources? - How was Bo Katan the first person to travel after this creature in a vehicle? You’re telling me NONE of the Mandalorians in this convert have transportation other than jet packs? - I don’t think I’ve ever seen such bad choreography from a Star Wars fight scene like the one in the flashback. Couldn’t see anything and it still looked bad - how was it that the foundling didn’t die from digestion? He was just sitting in there, chilling, and ended up with no burns or anything? - How is it that Vizla even has a son? No way in hell he had sex with a lady and kept the helmet on, cause that would be new levels of stupid. - Clapping by hitting together metal wrist guards. That’s it. It’s just so dumb.

Ok there were some silly things like the overnight camping at the birds nest. I mean leaving it so that the kid would be eaten overnight was dumb for sure. The whole hunting party climbing the mountain was a bit stupid for sure. The silly rule about keep your helmet on and walking away to hide and eat seems more stupid. Ok this season has some poor writing for sure, and it stinks because we all know that the reason its dumb is because KK is now an executive producer meddling with the show. He name shows up in BIG letters at the end of the show as soon as the credits start.

Answer to question at 3:05 Shooting at the water: We only perceive they are shooting at nothing. In the Marines, we have a digital range that helps us by giving us more firing time so that when we go to live fire we have already practiced and prepared muscle memory. The Mandalorian armor is a highly advanced suit, think Ironman. It is not a stretch to imagine that the suit itself has its own set of training sims. The Mandalorians are constantly in augmented reality. We see them shooting at the water but they are likely running simulations where targets or enemies are shown in the augmented reality and tracking their hit-and-miss rates among other likely stats based on the sim. Do you remember how silly it was to watch someone playing pokemon go?

Yes, yes, yes...and yes. All correct. As far as why they're writing Mandalorians to be so pathetic...yeah it's just really bad writing. The writers want/have to show conflict and risk (ie. stakes). They don't know how to come up with an enemy that could realistically do that. Or they just can't be bothered. Probably both. So basically something will attack the Mandalorians and they are suddenly bad at their job, because....well because the plot has to happen (thank-you Pitch Meeting guy). Tbh, on a lesser scale, this sort of thing goes on much too much in modern day writing. All these absolute bad-asses in film, tv etc get saved by the bell again and again. Are they not the best? Do they not have their shit together? Yeah, well maybe not. Actually season 1 of the Mandalorian was already a prime example of this BS. We go from badasses like Jango and Boba (in the movies) to Din, and suddenly instead of being a force to be reckoned with, this Mandalorian keeps needing to be saved. A frickin youngling saves him from a space rhino...yup, not so badass hmm. Mediocre! Actually worse than that - kind of a joke. He can't even deal with the Jawas who trashed his ship. Where Boba showed he could handle himself in Empire, and Jango was slaying actual Jedi in the prequels, the best Din can do in a fight with one non-superhuman Rebel infantryman (woman)...is a draw. Jango actually dealt with Obi Wan and escaped, but the best Din can do against Cara Dune, is a draw :/ Sad, but, it's just poor writing. Par for the course for Disney/LF/Marvel tbh.

It's never a good sign when your "smart" character is the one who thought of hopping into their ship for a chase scene, which would also presumably be faster than a jetpack. Also how the hell are they going to even ever make a helmet for Grogu?? Are they going to leave the giant ears unprotected? Fold them up to get them into the helmet? Make the helmet have freakishly huge ear protrusions? Seems like any way they do it that it's going to be awkward as hell. And isn't beskar armor stupidly rare? If it's that rare wouldn't they make a point to go recover it if they have a pretty good idea of where it fell?? Lastly, it's a special level of stupid to manage to contradict the canon you just established in your own show TWICE in a twenty-six minute episode. Sounds like someone got the idea to do rock climbing halfway through filming and didn't want to do a script rewrite or reshoot any scenes. And this is supposed to be Disney's flagship Star Wars show. Mind boggling. Sadly, this episode officially marks me having given up on the Mandalorian. I just can't bring myself to watch this trash anymore.

Amen. I am going to give the rest of the season a chance, but I am certain that I will be done with this shitty show after the finale. I loved the first three episodes of season 1. It's obvious though that that kind of quality is not going to return.

The Mandalorian only works as a cartoon for children. Silly things like rescuing an unharmed child from a giant bird's nest and taking in three giant chicks is straight out of Looney Tunes. Instead of a Man with No Name-eske bounty hunter story set in the wild west of the galaxy and dealing with the fringe and underbelly figures of the universe, it's nothing more than a live action children's cartoon. Disney has no respect for its Star Wars audience; it sees them as just a bunch of infantile adults that will laugh and clap at jingling keys.

The blame falls squarely on the shoulders of Dave Filoni. He cant write or direct to save his life. Most of the things he has written and directed like clone wars ,rebels and bad batch are terrible, unwatchable. Now he is part of the Mandalorian crew and he has taken the same failed model he used with previous shows onto this one. He was shielded and cut slack because people thought him a protege of George Lucas when Genndy turned him down to direct the clone wars series. But he is a shadow of Genndy's talent. The mask is finally off. People realise he has no talent with the exception of making purile or childlike focused material with no substance ,texture or gravity. Mark my words, every future episode he writes and directs of the Mandalorian will be the same poor unwatchable quality and the Asoka series will be similarly not worth the watch.

As much as I love Star Wars, this Mandalorian series have been a rollercoaster for me. One good or decent episode, followed up by a dull one and repeat. But this 4th episode is easily the worst one yet in season 3. No continuation of the betrayal from that imperial lady. No we got a "picknick rescue" and short 30 min episode. It saddens me about this series as a whole when you can almost predict what's gonna happen during the entire episide just by the actions in the first 2-3 minutes. Man I long so much for some proper bounty hunting. I know you can't just only have that, storytelling wise but jeez, this thing is turning to be a disaster and fast.

Some very simple edits could have saved season 3. 1. Just get rid of grogu, he serves no point but to “activate neurons” and sell toys, he should have stayed with the Jedi and allowed the mandalorian to continue on his own. 2. Din shouldn’t have been captured so clumsy and easily and KEPT the dark saber rightfully. 3. Din should have been the one to reunite the fleet 4. Din should be guarded as the main character better and not be made clumsy and dumb for no reason other then to let Katan get the dark saber 5. The scenes following the double spy and the doctor where not bad but it could have been ALOT shorter and simpler 6. Improve the fighting prowess of the Mandalorians. They’re meant to be entirely about fighting yet in most of the larger fights they’ve been in they’re lack luster

The reason the boy was still alive and spat out whole is because The Mandalorian is a family TV show aimed at kids and adults. I do recall a brutal fight in season 2 ep 1 where Mando slices a guy in half (I think it was that episode) but you can't have a boy all cut up in a family Disney show! Be too shocking. It would look gruesome in a R rated film (!) so there's no way Disney would show that on a TV show.

That's understandable, but then they shouldn't write these type of situations against common sense. Make some easy fix like have the mandalorians rescue him in the same day and then make something up, like "these creatures digest really slowly, if we rescue him within 5 hours he won't suffer any permanent harm" or something I don't know lol. If you still want the campfire, then that could have been back home, celebrating, Paz attitude to Bo-Katan would even make more sense.
