The reason obito doesn't go blind is most certainly due to the fact half of his body is made of white zetsu. He basically has a healing factor similar to hashirama cells

@@yanzn5926 When obito fought konan he had two sharingan. When he used izanagi he used the eye which wasn't his own and that one did go blind. Izanagi probably causes a massive amount of damage to the eye all at once in a way that is impossible to heal. Meanwhile ms powers are more of a gradual thing which can be healed in rare circumstances it seems

So that means in theory, if something was indeed healing the eye why Ms was being used then the effects would cancel each other out. Which is what the white zetsu part of obito does, Izanagi is a different story the damage happens all at once and out does the healing effect so the eye goes blind and cannot be repaired.

There actually is an explanation outside the 2 you mentioned as to why Kakashi got a sudden chakra increase during the war arc and it's actually quite interesting. Basically, the reason is that kakashi is becoming less and less depressed as the series go on. Thanks to the 3rd great ninja war, Kakashi's growth and chakra diminished because of his mental health that was in the trash. But as the story went on, He met team 7 and especially after meeting his father in the afterlife, Kakashi started healing and coming to terms with his past and losing everyone he cared about (except guy). When the war arc rolled around, Kakashi's morale gave him a boost in his chakra reserves and fighting capability like the prodigy he always was, and that's what allowed to him surpass the limits that he had before. That's why he's stronger than ever in boruto, (With the exception of DMS Kakashi) despite no sharingan, perfected the lightning blade and used 6 paths jutsu that could flood a village. Kakashi was nerfed by his depression and like they say, morale is 2/3rds of the battle. So without that nerf, he's actually really strong. Also, i'm surprised you didn't mention madara going into the kamui dimension despite Kakashi's kamui not working that way.

Chakra is a mixture of spiritual and physical energy, so it actually does make sense that you can increase your chakra supply by improving your spirit... his level of improvement was still so fast and so extreme that it's hard to believe though

I think kishimoto didn't reveal his mangekyo pattern was because he didn't want to give up tobis identity. Even when he tamed the nine tails it was his base sharingan. When it became more obvious that it was obito during the fight with kakashi thats when he decided to show it.

yeah to add to this in my opinion Obito had the most powerful sharingan in the series and was the best at using it, he tamed the nine tails with base three tomoe, and sparred with Minato in his early teens, and also was able to spam kamui, Kakashi having his other eye might explain why he was able to use it so often

Hashirama was a full senju and had insane amounts of chakra. He was also Ashuras reincarnation. Lastly, Hashirama was able to naturally regenerate rapidly and was famous for it. This makes sense as to why Hashirama cells are such a big deal; because you are basically granted a little bit of that powerful regeneration. If your eyes are constantly causing damage but over HALF of your body consists of Hashirama cells? It basically regenerates the damage done faster than it deals it.

He was stronger than Madara who was a very potent Indra reincarnate even though Ashura's incarnations are typically weaker than Indra's incarnations as we saw in the case of both Ashura and Naruto. Ashura needed six paths senjutsu from Hagoromo to match Indra and Naruto needed Kurama to match Sasuke. Also, Hashi's cells are op af. Naruto is also an Ashura reincarnate but his cells aren't worth shit.

@@Amenotejikari yes but don't forget Marada had from around his young Adult age to I believe his 50s or almost 60s to Master His MS AND EMS to where He basically became one with it, Just the Smallest switch in his Chakra allows him to tap into the Power of the His dojutsu, and I personally think The reason he could do it without eyes, is because over The time he used the sharingan it became Just a part of his Chakra at that point, it's almost like muscle memory. (I think I don't remember completely.)

I think the Susanoo is just a special case really. We've seen it used in limited or full capacity with only one eye present (Resurrected Madara with 1 rinnegan, Shisui with 1 MS in the ninja escapades OVA), without the MS being active (Madara throughout the war arc, Sasuke post 6 paths boost) and even a completely fried sharingan (Itachi completely blind after sealing Orochimaru). If I'm not mistaken, it's a power attached to one's spirit as opposed to the other MS powers connected to specific eyes (Madara being able to use kamui after jacking Kakashi's sharingan, hypothetically Sasuke may have had access to tsukuyomi through Itachi's eyes) The whole MS balancing thing got a bit too crazy

@@PENTASTIC25 shisui’s susanoo isn’t canon it doesn’t count rinnegan is a better version of ems. Sasuke had to use ems to use susanoo even with six paths boost, it’s very common for people to use ms ability that isn’t susanoo without activating ms/ems. Itachi wasn’t completely blind after sealing orochimaru, the reason madara could use kakashi’s eye right after stealing it was because of madara’s healing factor it repaired almost instantly and kakashi isn’t a blood relative to madara which is why he could use his ms ability. Sasuke can’t use itachi’s abilities because it is sasuke’s ems not itachi’s. Swapping eyes with a blood relative is to make one’s ms able to use infinitely and power it up, never shown to make use of the person that they took the eyes from’s ms abilities.

Kakashi had Obito's eye surgically transplanted by Rin. Madara transplanted Kakashi's transplanted eye into his own by taking advantage of Six Paths Sage Mode's regen. As for ripping out eyeballs completely undamaged...yeah I can't explain that.

Something to consider with obito's sharingan is that certain abilities cause way more strain upon ones eyes, sasuke pretty much goes blind extremely fast when he over utilizes the susanoo and essentially because totally blind once his susanoo evolves further when fighting kakashi. Obito could simply be using a more passive ability that is his intangibility, also you don't need to show the mangekyo patterns to utilize the abilities as madara with no eyes can summon the susanoo and sasuke has shown utilize his susanoo without mangekyo if I'm not mistaken.

Konan states that the intangibility lasts for 5 minutes. It’s automatic and affects his whole body, basically making him into Schrödinger’s cat for the duration. And when you’re fighting at hypersonic speeds, 5 minutes is an eternity. So I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Obito preemptively activates the passive ability of Kamui intangibility once and then reverts his mangekyou back to base to conserve chakra. Considering he only needs to have it turned on for a second, it’s probably much less chakra intensive than Tsukuyomi, Flame control, and Susanoo, that require the eye to be continually active and spending chakra to maintain the technique.

The second time he had a full bijuu cloak. You do know even it’s not a simple refuel right? It’s makes you significantly more powerful. Even the weaker “refuel” tripled his chakra reserves and his chakra was much stronger. 2:29 Zetsu cells improve your abilities. Including Sharingan abilities. It’s established in the series pretty clearly. 2:48 well shows how you do your research. 2:56 not a theory, it’s cannon. 3:00 *Zetsu Body would be more accurate. 3:05 Ooooooh someone watches Nux Taku. The Sharingan was perfect when it was first shown that it’s abilities was copying Tai Jutsu and Ninjutsu. Along with being able to look through Genjutsu and reverse it, as well as hypnotize others. It was perfect as the perfect prowess for illusions casting and Copying to perfection any movement from another opponent and improving eye sight for the user being able to increase their reflexes and reaction time. I also wishes Kishimoto would of have sticked to sharingan having its weaknesses. For instance it’s power varying from user as well as emphasizing the Tomoes that way one could see what sharingan would be stronger henceforth which Uchiha shinobi would be at a higher level. Having the sharingan deactivate when chakra levels where down and depleted was another weakness that was perfect since it made sense that such a powerful ocular jutsu would have a draw back like any other jutsu regarding chakra reserve depletion. The Mongekyo Sharingan was perfectly fine till they added the whole Susanoo ability and the Kotoamatsukami. Kishimoto should of simply kept the Mongekyo Sharingan as a more powerful level and it’s user gaining better ocular prowess making their reflexes and reaction time close to being inhuman, and being able to see through Genjutsu like a butter knife cutting through bread. Also the copying abilities would be enhanced, as well as being able to perform incredibly powerful Genjutsus to the point of destroying peoples psychosis. Draw backs would of been staying blind with abusive use of it, the users chakra levels and the stronger the illusion straining of the eyes, but not blindness unless going past chakra depletion. But Sussanoo? Kotoamatsukami? kamui? Hell it would of been simplistically perfect leaving just the Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu as abilities special to it and the power varying degrees from uchiha shinobies. The eternal BS was also stupid, if you go blind, your blind that’s it. Kishimoto simply wanted to copy DBZ making the show from Ninjas to God Ninjas. It got stupid when Shippuden came in

That's what I was thinking too. Kamui requires a lot of chakra for kakashi, but that's the left eye's far Kamui ability. Obito's right eye Kamui could be a lot less strenuous on his eye, so the hashirama cells might not even have to regen that much.

3:35… Tobirama in manga explained that “No other clan treasures love more than the Uchiha” … also explaining that when uchiha loses someone close to their heart. Their power get fignificantly stronger. Your “linked to the eye not to the owner” makes no sense too. Sasuke took his brothers eyes… i dont see sasuke’s susanoo red, with one of the legendary swords that can literally suck the souls out of body. Nor i see Sasuke using genjutsu that makes person to be tortured for 24 hours… cause that was itachi mangekyou sharingan in manga… another thing… itachi used that power before shippuuden without his eyes changing shape… meaning.. MS have powers that doesn’t include shape change you see in eyes ( i.e. Obito shifting between realities). In regards to the whole “is replacing his eyes as needed” not working because the abilities are tied to the eye and not the individual, I’m pretty sure that’s only how it works when transferred to a non Uchiha. When a Uchiha takes the eyes of their brother for the EMS they don’t get their brothers ability, only get the design of the MS mixed together and eternal light/reduced chakra cost. So taking the eyes of someone they arnt closely related to might just be the offbrand alternative to getting EMS from a close relative, restoring vision but not much else.

He's constantly turning his intangibilty on and off in the middle of battle though, as he he can't touch anything while it's active. That's the main weakness of his jutsu, he's vulnerable while he's attacking. So it doesn't really seem like the kind of jutsu that you just activate once and it works automatically for a set time period.

Simple kakashi had got stronger since the deidara incident and the war arc on top of the chakra he got from Naruto. I think they said he gave everyone 3x kakashi’s chakra. In order to use susanoo you would need to of awakened the ems. Then when your chakra system is accustomed to extinguishing the susanoo you can do it without the eyes, hence why Madara was able to. However since Obito never awakened an ems his chakra system had never done it so his system never knew what it felt like to use it

@@AlteredNova04 no he couldn’t use limbo because it requires the rinnegan eye to summon. We see madara as soon as he gets his rinnegan from zetsu he activates limbo immediately. He activated the rinnegan before his death and mastered it to the point he could summon the gedo statue which is why he can use the preta path with no eyes, he also has distinct jutsu memory as he activates the rinnegan by accident not even knowing he was able to till after finding out kabuto gave him a body with hashirama cells. Madara is the first ever ems user in Naruto history before the aliens, meaning he’s the beginning of this MS and EMS abilities thing that happens throughout Naruto with uchiha’s. As madara is pretty much a pioneer it’s best to assume he would use the best jutsu the MS/EMS can offer to any uchiha which is the perfect susanoo. Also, he is already op giving him two extra overpowered abilities would just make him immortal and unstoppable

i pretty sure the reason why obito is using his “base sharigan” to phase through things throughout the whole series is because we didn’t know the masked man was obito yet, and kishimoto wanted to build this up as a dramatic plot twist, so after kakashi fought deidara and used his MS we seen the Kamui MS design, if obito was shown with this design before he was even revealed to be obito, it would ruin the suspense and anticipation for who was behind the mask the whole time

It's already been shown that you can use your M.S abilities without having to actually activate the sharigan itself. For example when madara used susanoo without any eyes. Once you unlock the M.S the abilities are just there for use now. Plus the phasing for Obito is more of a passive thing,he can turn it on and off but most of the time it's always on anyway. Edit:Also I don't think Hashirama cells are a plot convenience itself. The Hashiramas are known for having large pools of chakra and great at healing, it'd make sense that anyone who gets access to the DNA becomes a monster. Especially when it's the Uchiha who's eyes depend on those very things; being chakra pool and physical condition.

Good analysis especially at the end. Obito was the sole exception to mangekyo abilities for plot, to conceal his true identity from the viewer/reader, so the big reveal would be cool. Which it was lol. And as for being able to spam it, he did actually have hashirama cells lmao, I know those damn cells are behind every plot convenience but assuming hashirama was really the fullest form of an ashura reincarnation, and had crazy healing ability that puts Naruto’s 9 tails healing to shame, it only makes sense. I mean, if Danzo, a non-Uchiha, could use the cells to have a dozen sharingan, and Yamato could do wood style with the cells through orochimaru’s genetic experiementation, it makes sense that it would have a profound increase on Obito’s abilities too. At least it is consistent. Hashirama cells = insane power up every time, no exceptions. That fits well enough, it isn’t like just anyone has access to his cells, basically only Madara and Orochimaru, and Obito/Danzo through each of those respectively. So it’s not too bad of plothole flex-seal, as far as some series go. It’s tolerable. Nice breakdown.

My head canon for the eye transplant is that chakra has natural healing properties. Sickness is basically nonexistent in the Naruto world so it’s not super out there that it could be because of chakra. When an eye is transplanted the nerves in the back of the eye could just be using chakra to link itself with the nerves connected to the eye. We know chakra can be used to heal injuries with medical ninjutsu and Kurama’s chakra. Also I would like to point out that out of all eye transplants the only one we see immediately use the eye is Madara and he is shown using medical ninjutsu on his eye in order to use it and he has a massive healing factor on top of that.

the thing about both Danzo's and Obito's MS not making him go blind, the only common thing between them is the Hashirama cells however, the MS abilities of Obito were actually starting to show before he awoke it interestingly enough, it's a throwaway line from the Zetsu who found him in the anime that went along the lines of "it's like the rocks were passing right through him" which to me indicates maybe there is some level of being able to activate the ability without activating the MS, which would line up with obito being able to phase through objects without it being active it's also theorized that the rinegan can copy kekegenkai (not that we actually see this) and it was the Rinegan that was doing all the work... you know... he was using the Rinegan to do the work his own eye normally would, the whole thing is kind of ambiguous either way

As for Kakashi - when he fought Deidara it was his first time using Kamui so he couldn't do it as well as he did after practicing with it. Also Kurama gave him chakra at least once to fill it back up and that's how he trapped Obito in Kamui. Plus he's been healed and given more chakra by Sakura, Naruto and Obito. As for Obito - he has Hashirama cells/White Zetsu body parts in his body which reduce the strain on his eyes and heal your body. He also has hundreds of eyes he collected from the Uchiha clan massacre (you can see a wall of them when he transplanted Utachi's eyes into Sasuke) so he can replace them. That's how he beat Konan. He used Izanagi with his left eye under the mask to cast it. It went blind and he replaced it with Nagato's Rinnegan(if he didn't get it he would've just used one of the Sharingan he has in his lab) after he got it. I do agree about Obito using Kamui with his base Sharingan though instead of MS is pretty dumb. It's a big miss on the animators part since it happens a lot, not just a time or two they forgot to draw his eye right. Ripping out an eye isn't hard actually, you just put enough pressure on the socket and it'll pop out. Putting that ripped out eye in yourself in a matter of seconds and it's fine to use, now that's another story. It's pretty hard to reattach the optical nerve(if not impossible) and most times we see them do it and not even use medical ninjutsu. Its like screwing in a lightbulb, out with the old and in with the new. Even Naruto's 6 paths Jesus mode is kinda sus and he has creation of all things. Others don't have that OP power.

Hashirama cells help out in more than just healing. The drawbacks of the mangekyo sharingan come from using power similar to Hagoromo without having blood of both the senju and uchiha. By having hashirama's cell, they essentially have the completed blood of hagoromo and will not receive nearly as much of the drawback's, such as blindness. Kakashi's increase in kamui use makes sense as how people have stated, he had mental/spiritual growth as well as chakra increase. That alone wouldn't make sense, but what pieces it together is his increased affinity and skill with kamui throughout shippuden. Similarly to how naruto used to use a ridiculous overabundance of chakra for something as simple as the clone jutsu, Kakashi didn't have the skill with MS and had to overcompensate by using a massive abundance of chakra. By becoming skilled he only needs around the actual required chakra to use kamui. Evidence of his skill change can also be seen from thinking about how it took him seemingly minutes to use kamui on deidara at first but can now use it incredibly fast. The eyeball swapping is stupid though and not showing obito's MS was just plot hole for not revealing who he is, which is also stupid.

Ino you mention it at 6:09 but the reason why obito ms wasn't shown was to give it more of the shock of who is he, what his power is how's he linked to the Uchiha etc and not give away his abilities early or who he was at that time. Its shown that straight after that kakashi figures out that his and obito eyes are linked and it's kamui, his eye when showing him using kamui to warp, teleport objects out, suck kakashi in etcthat his right eye is the ms stage and he reverts to the 3 eye when he's talking and linked with 10 tails. Tho in some cases I also don't get why it showed him with the 3 tom but was phasing through objects, could be an animation error in stage of like zooming out like it normally did in the manga. Kakashi did collapse on several occasions during the fight with the tailed beasts, with obito&when madara joined in and kakashi was given chakra multiple times by kurama, was allowed to rest&recover when naruto links with 9tails and when kakashi was thrown by kurama, but its not showing or told exactly how much is given but kakashi does talk to shikamarus dad ( can't spell his name lmao but the nara clan) and does say it increased his charkra alot & explains he was able to use kamui. ^ this with what you showed with the manga also shows that his eye was infact going blind near the end but however its when kakashi was depressed he could only use it a few times, even when he figured out the "masked Uchiha" was obito he was unable to collect himself n used it like once before falling and being drained.
