MARIOTHON GAME 15: Today we are beat Mario & Wario (Super Famicom) on our quest to beat every Mario game!
🔸🔹 WHAT IS THE MARIOTHON YOU ASK? 🔹🔸
The Mariothon is the ultimate Mario challenge for any gamer! It was created by DGR_Dave and he is currently on a quest to finish the first ever official Mariothon!
So...what's the challenge, you ask? The goal of the Mariothon is to beat every single Super Mario video game ever made. This includes all first party games and licensed games in which Mario is a playable character. Mariothon also includes other video games in which Mario has a prominent supporting role. That's over 150 titles, across 15 gaming systems (and counting)!
Once completed, you can say that you've been there for every quest Mario has ever taken since his humble beginnings in 1983.
What counts as “beating” a game is subjective and will vary drastically depending on the format. Many games can be crossed off the list by completing an any%-style playthrough, but some others will require more creative definitions of completion.

This game really would have done better without lives, and if enemies didn’t kill you but just knocked you back a little, this game would have worked better. And come on, why do you have to start over from the beginning in world 9 & 10? The game should at least stay consistent.

@@hurou Sounds like the original GBA version of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (which I endured until maybe halfway through the Riku campaign then got bored) but if the card distribution was badly balanced against the player.

That choice to not let you continue after level 9 is reached just ruined it for me as well. It was a needless difficulty hike that just meant you had to replay the earlier levels perfectly to make any progress…

Edit: 14:10 Did I just hear my exact thoughts? I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'm seeing some things that may have contributed to the way the Minis series plays. (Mario vs. Donkey Kong: March of the Minis, and so on). Despite this not being Nintendo's game necessarily, it's a very interesting concept for a puzzle game! Release this as a Virtual Console game on a handheld, Nintendo. (Or the Switch I suppose. It is made to be a handheld and a TV console.) Seriously, using touch controls to play this game or even a controller, instead of a trackball mouse...That'd make the game great! Have it play like the Minis series with the touch controls and elaborate puzzles! Edit, after seeing the end: ........And slow the difficulty mountain's ascent.

Looks like the key here is getting all four stars in each level and building up 1-men. In theory, with 70 levels providing stars (before World 9) plus the typical 100-coin standard, you should be comfortable enough to get through at least Worlds 9 and 10 without getting a game over, simply because you've built enough extra lives before those worlds. Also, no doubt the difficulty spike woulda been nerfed had it come stateside in the 90s. I don't think that getting game over in World 10 woulda sent you to World 9 after it was localized.

For me this game looks like something I'd like to give a try but the highlight for me in this episode was when Amanda walked in front of the camera with a Cook Forest sweater on😂. I got countless childhood memories made there and I currently live about 45 minutes from Cook Forest. 😊

The bucket only says W when it’s upside down…which tells you it was meant to be upside down…thus probably made to be thrown on people’s heads…and If it was right side up, how buckets are supposed to be used, it would say M in stead of W… …Shows you how backwards Wario is…as well as how he’s an antithesis of Mario. Would have been funnier if it was made right side up, and then it said M when it was on Mario’s head…

btw, this Mario game by Gamefreak? Apparently it's referenced in one of the earlier Pokemon games. I cannot remember which one exactly though, but I think you can find that reference by interacting with a TV, specifically one in your house. Been forever since I played the earlier Pokemon games though, so I cannot fully remember when and where you find that reference

The fact it’s only game 15 and “beat every Mario game” is already out the window really makes me lose interest in the series. 😕 I get the frustration but you can’t just not beat it and count it anyway. A lot less satisfying to watch the progress knowing you’ll never beat them all now.
