Really good movie dealing with a mature subject. Well acted by a stellar cast. Thanks for posting.

I love to observe the fashion of 1920s in the movies. 1929 was the last year of flapper jazz era. Year that changed lives of millions.

I once thought the Depression only affected the USA foolishly, because it is the main focal point when talked about, but naturally, it affected the globe. I enjoy Pre Codes from the 20's as well.

That candy cane the little girl had took me way back to my childhood. :) Those peppermints were a foot long and a inch wide, took weeks to eat it! aahhh! those were good days back then.:)

What a great cast, Anita Louise was 14 but looked 10 or 11, a real rare gem, Lu Lu has done it again!

Lots of fun, once I got the characters straight: Cliff and Joyce (blonde woman) Wheater were once married, had Judy, Terry, and Blanca, then they divorced and Cliff married Zinnia (Kay Francis) and had Zinnie; Joyce married the Italian guy and they had the twins Bun and Beechy. Then everyone divorced so Cliff and Joyce got remarried and had the baby Cliff. Soon after is when the story begins with a young man, Martin (Frederic March) returning from abroad only to be sat upon by a crazy bunch of kids, with whom he gets entangled and enmeshed in their affairs. Zinnia with her latest husband “Wrennie” in tow swoops in to steal her daughter off, and Count Mazzurati comes calling hoping to make money by trafficking the twins in show businesses, while Joyce and Cliff are separately having affairs with ppl who are barely seen, and a Mrs Rose Stellars turns Martin’s head and is trying to lead him on a merry dance away from the eldest Wheater, Judy.

Wow, I did NOT pick up on all those nuances -- thank you for the clarification. I was further baffled how the eldest boy could enact a divorce proceeding....must've heard it on a radio show.

Mary Brian has a similar voice to Jean Arthur in this film.

Crazy to think that even these little kids are now 100+ years old. Even that little baby is about 95 or 96 now 😳

I was thinking the same thing, I assume most have passed away at this point, but I hope they had productive lives. Maybe the baby actor is still living.

I believe those were known as “plus fours”, a type of fashionable trousers for men of the era that only survived to this day on the golf course. Often made of flannel. (Maybe like how a few years ago capri length pants were popular for men.)
