Marshall Tucker in my opinion was in the top three country Southern rock bands of all time Lynyrd Skynyrd was a rock and roll band The Allman Brothers were Blues southern rock band and Marsha Tucker out of Greenville South Carolina was the first country rock band

Toy Caldwell on vocals and guitar 🎸 they were a southern rock band and had a country feel more than most “southern rockers”. Fire On the Mountain is another famous song of theirs that I haven’t seen anyone react to but is truly worthy ✌️

I never heard that either, even after so many times hearing these songs...not sure what that means, if anything? Well either way you could say he did finish his "tour" whether in Nam or on stage, sometimes it turns out to be all the same??

Tour mean his tour in Vietnam. He had enough time in when he was wounded to go home but refused to leave his friends so he went back into combat after recovering and they went home together.

Toy Caldwell, aka "the Thumb" because he never used a pick, choosing to use the fleshy part of his thumb in all his guitar work. He and brother Tommy formed the band after serving their country overseas in Vietnam.

The band took their name from an inscription carved into the back of a piano in the tuning room of the studio they were working in. First LP released in 1973. Lead vocals, and that smooth lead guitar by band leader, Toy Caldwell.. Toy died in his sleep from heart failure Feb 1993. The MTB comes out of Spartanburg SC, recorded debut, Dec 1973@ Capricorn Records, Macon Ga.

They're from my town! Local boys made good. They're actually playing a free concert here tonight in Spartanburg SC. So cool you're reacting to this tonight. Very bluesy southern rock and there's not many times you hear a flute in a southern rock song. Their catalog is phenomenal. Toy Caldwell that is singing and playing guitar there passed away as did his brother that was also in the band. There's actually a road in my county named Marshall Tucker Road. I love your channel and I love that you dig MTB Keep up the good work Biz!

My husband and I started dating when we were 15 yrs old, we graduated, got married and had our daughter all in 3 months in 4 yrs we had 3 kids a yr apart then had Zach 13 yrs later. We are now 61 yrs old and have 4 children and 4 grandchildren, when my oldest daughter came home from school one day she said the teacher asked the class to raise your hand if your parents are still together and she was the only one to raise her hand. Anyway I say all this because it can be done, if there's a problem don't run to divorce court sit down and talk about it NO yelling, NO screaming listen to what each has to say and God has always been a big part of our lives,. Sit and eat dinner together every night and even my kids would give each other a hug and kiss on the cheek and say I love you to us and each other. I love my husband more today than the day I married him.

The Caldwell brothers were from Moore South Carolina about 30 miles from where I live and I have always had kin living in Moore and would ride by an old two story brick school house that they used to record some of their songs in. I remember hearing on the radio years ago back in the 70's that they got their name by one of the brothers finding a keyring in an abandoned car shed or barn and the keyring had the name, "Marshall Tucker" on it and they named the band after the name on the keyring. About the flute, critics, told the band that a flute in a Southern Rock Band won't work, but they tried it out and that became their trademark. That flute gave a lot of their songs a very unique sound that caught on and is classic to hear to this day.

Biz, a couple comments: 1) Absolutely love Marshall Tucker Band, so rich in talent and the flute is so unique to rock. 2) I was also chosen to be a flautist as a kid and stuck with it. I learned that not everyone has the mouth shape to play the flute and it appears to me that you probably do. That may be why they chose it for you. It's kind of special. 👄

Great reaction Biz!! I saw these guys in 1974 and it is still the best concert I ever attended. They kicked ass!! I don't why southern rock bands seem to have tragic stories like the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd and these guys. They have so many great songs and many are not that well known. One of my favorites is Running Like the Wind. I don't see a good live version except a live audio, but if you get a chance try this studio version. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWTNioyLpqibbM0
