Fletch. I’m new to the Mylar sound. What head are you using on your Mylar batter? I think I see a Powerstroke 77. Have you tried other snare sides besides the Evans Hybrid? ’m tying to set up our middle school with that Jeff Queen sound know what I’m saying? Have you considered adding an Evans staccato disk on maybe a Remo Falams II or MX5 snare side? Still get that Mylar sound just want tight/choked!

+Mario Arroyo it is a powerstroke 2. I have never used a staccato disk. On this drum I have only used that evans hybrid. On my other one I have used different snare side heads but the battery head is always a Kevlar head. You and also try the evans black hybrid. It has a mylar sound with a Kevlar feel

Isaac Fletcher Ahh I see! The thing is they have a regular Yamaha high tension snare. So on that one I’m using a Evans Hybrid batter, easier on their hands but their other snare is literally an old school Yamaha Power Corps snare (basically the snare mechanism is like the high tension guts but the lugs are Power Lite style; it’s predecessor.) I put a Evans Hydraulic (Tom head) on top it has the Mylar feel I needed. Both are using Falams XT snare sides. Kills a lot of the over tone. Hoping I️t somewhat works.

+Mario Arroyo I like using the mylar if I'm chopping less and doing more visuals, moves and clarity is not a big issue. Kevlar when I want alot of diddles and flame and the tempo is faster. I get a cleaner sound that sounds less mushy.

Hey many. Just wondering what you painted your rims with? Like type of paint? Because I wanted to take my grey rims and just painting them a standard black but using maybe dip paint (like for your chrome car wheels.) But maybe spray paint might be a better bet?
