A small detail about the man who was kept aluve by radiation thing His company essentially just produced chemicals that were hella radioactive in a bucket Lord and behold it meltdowns The man was practically touching the radioactive goop at the time of the disaster However the reason they kept him alive was to cure him. The hospital even housed his entire family there for the whole duration After all it was his family's wishes and the doctors didn't really want to keep him alive, he was really cheery and hospitable on his first week or so at the hospital. It was until he died like 3 times did the doctor in charge broke the news to the family that he might've suffered brain damage from those deaths and the next death will be his final (they kept him alive by resuscitating him somehow I forgot the details) he was alive for like 80 days In the end please dont think much ill will of the doctors or family members, they only wanted him to live and during the entire operation there were many times he showed signs of healing

You should read the comic they are parodying, its called Marvels. Its a much more upbeat version of this. Instead of the world being shit, it just has the marvel universe work on a normal time scale as Phil Sheldon talks about how wonderful it is. Great story and good read

Spiderman kills people, Magnito's powers kill him, the Hulk becomes the worst kind of mutant, it's a ton of correlating ideas, I think it's lovely. Don't get me wrong, I don't want every story to be like this. I don't even want most stories to be like this. But for such concrete characters in Pop Culture, it's so cool to see basically anxious imaginings made manifest

Cyclops was actually supposed to be able to control his powers, but he suffered a head injury as a child that made his eye beams always active (I think it was when he and his brother jumped out of the Kree Ship that took their parents and unborn brother Vulcan). But what's funny is in the current X-Men series that's been going for a few years, where everyone keeps getting revived in regrown bodies he should and is reborn without that injury but then they go out of their way to force the brain damage cause that's just how he always is. 😂

A similar situation happened to every disabled mutant that was resurrected as well as Gambit. For the latter, his powers would have eventually grown beyond Omega Level, turning him into New Sun, if it weren't for Sinister doing a specific brain surgery on him: Resurrection has by all means completely undone that operation and, because of the 5% power increase a mutant gets following the process, should have sped up the coming of New Sun.

The closest thing would be Batman holy terror, where basically the church is in control of everything so when the heroes started showing up they thought they were devils or other such things and basically trap and experiment on them, or you could check the tales from the dark multiverse which are what if's of well known stories but the events go wrong

Okay guys. I'm gonna set this straight. Ruins IS a parody miniseries. Its a parody of a 4 issue miniseries called "Marvels" which was released sometime in the 90s. Its abput the same reporter in the story, Phil Sheldon, and we view the entire marvel 616 universe from his point of view. Its a magnificent comic book and I recommend all marvel fans should read it at least once in their lives. So yeah, you shouldnt take Ruins seriously. The fact that it only got 2 issues when the thing it was parodying, Marvels, got 4 should be evidence enough on how much you should take it seriously. Its kinda like mortal kombat. How over the top should we take the gore that it goes 180 to becoming funny.

I should mention about the 60 radiation patient, Thankfully nobody was using the man as a test subject. His family wanted.him to live and everyone was doing everything they could but sadly there was no use at one point so they sadly had to let him die. The onpy reason so much was "learned" because of every option thry could possibly try being taken to save him causing new discoveries to happen. Sadly the news at the time romanticized the idea that the doctors and family were just evil for it because if course the media would.

As much as I get it's supposed to be as bad as possible it can still be we get for edge sake. The idea of a marvel universe where everything that could go wrong does go wrong is quite fun but I think it would be better if it was more to do with the morality, choices and successes of characters we already know, instead of rewriting them from the ground up as bad as possible as just senseless murderers and junkies and other stuff. Like killing Galactus feels rather goofy. I think in a universe like this it would be better to see a sort of "Galactus won" story or something with tidbits that show how the world progressed from disaster to disaster. Maybe thanos killed half of what was left, maybe Dr Doom took over galactus's body etc.. with the characters being more like "The hulk takes over from banner permanently" or "US agent killed Cap". That kind of thing.
