Lewis, I started watching your videos three days ago. I am keeping a journal based on one video I saw and I am documenting three things I am grateful for every night. And I already feel like a million bucks. But get this...you always recognize people for what they are doing at the end of your show. I had a client that I am moving a piano for come by my shop and he told me how awesome I was for showing him various business techniques I am using. Gosh, Lewis, thank you so much for becoming such an open and honest person.. Your story explains a lot about certains types of boys we all met in school, either in the US where you come from or here in Europe. Those handsome boys in the sports team that girls were into but who didn't seem to wanna get any deeper connections as they were afraid to be vulnerable and get hurt or mocked.. Throughout this video I just wanted to teleport myself where you are and give you a long warm strong hug. I mean your podcasts, your story and your books are helping millions of people but it all must feel like a therapy to you as well and must be so liberating to finally take the mask off and be true to yourself. You're a great man. I'm glad for you to now be strong while being vulnerable and be driven and inspired by opening yourself up more and more. I probably can guess what's on your mind in the morning after you wake up as you're doing now this #beatthesun challenge but I really wonder what's on your mind before you go to bed? What is going on in your head and your heart, what your thoughts and feelings are? Excited to pick up a copy of your last book and read through it before bed.. I might be getting some answers to my questions above then. :)

I discovered you last week in Barnes and noble as i was walking through the isles..mask of masculinity caught my attention and I right away picked it up, opened it n said im buying it..i read it the entire book that night..then googled you online to see who you are n that was when I discovered your KZbin videos...the interviews connect me to the authors of my favorite books...I just loveeeee it! This is the time. This is the time. It needs to be talked about. Men need to know it's okay to be vulnerable. Men need to know it's okay to hug and be affectionate with other men. This is so awesome!!! So happy you're doing this Lewis and so sorry about the abuse you suffered. I too suffered sexual abuse from my father for many years when I was a teenager. I'm confused about when you talk about your abuse. "...from a man I didn't know". I want to believe that, however more times than not, children are abused by people they do know. Just hope you're okay and maybe you've done the work to push through the pain and you certainly don't need to reveal that to your audience but it may be helpful to someone who may have gone through the same thing. It makes me cry when close friends say I'm "feminine". To tell a soft boy it's ok to be feminine is equal to telling a muslim it's ok to be a terrorist. This phrase can be more hurtful than "you are a girl", because it's obvious I'm not a girl but I'm a boy who needs to be sure that he is not a freak, but a right guy who is masculine because he's a guy. I hope that one day the world where anyone can call sensitive men masculine will come true because those men have everything to be called so - they are men. " Your hugs are so masculine. They are even tenderer than my mom's" - Once I told a guy and saw his smile. I try to tell such things to males as often as possible and see how they bloom aware of their masculinity. Though I don't hear somebody telling me such phrases

I feel there should generally be less of a focus on woman learning how to emotionally support the men in their life, and more emphasis on men learning to emotionally support each other. Women often bear the brunt of the emotional labour in heterosexual relationships because men don't have the same emotional support structures that we do outside of the romantic relationship structure. With that being said, I'm sure there are some women who may need to learn to relate to men differently in order to better support them, and hopefully those specific women can learn a lot from your book. All in all I love your content and I really respect you and what you've been able to accomplish! I hope to, one day, be as successful in my own life as you are now, in spite of personal demons and struggles.

I just broke up with someone who is not a happy person...He's been through a lot and I think your book would help him but he's cynical and often said he doesn't read. I would love to send him your book but I don't think it would be well received. I know him and i aren't meant to be together but I still want to offer the book to him or just send him this video...Last time we saw each other he said he'd call me for my birthday but just sent a facebook post and I was very upset so I called him a few days later. He said he was sorry & he'd try to make it up to me but hasn't called back...and I'm not gonna chase him cause I broke it off and don't wanna be with someone who can't give me what I want emotionally. I hope one day he can feel true joy.

Several military veterans are quite candid in interviews and memoirs that they made a great deal of conscious effort to suppress their fear and other stigmatized emotions to function in a combat environment. So . . . yes, stoicism was a mask for many of them.
