Longer than it should have, but at least I managed to finish it. Special thanks to the EA Launcher! It made footage gathering excruciatingly painful. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it! :)

Does it matter what race I play or did you choose human so that all the characters were the same race in the trilogy? I’m asking because stats can be different but I didn’t know if it mattered too much also because I love the dwarves having a criminal backstory In origins and inquisition

Not really. I wanted to be consistent because of the trilogy. Plus humans are my favorites. When it comes to min/maxing, yes there are slight differences. Humans start with 15 dex, 15 cun. Elves start with 14 - 14 and dwarves start with 15-14.

I mean tbh DAI was probably one of my first RPGs, I went warrior on my first playthrough cuz I was a kid who thought "Big sword = Badass" and honestly I had a blast as a Reaver. Of course it wasn't until my second playthrough that I realised my true calling was to be a mage and I almost always play that in every RPG. However after playing mage in every RPG here I've grown bored of it and now I'm doing rogues. So yeah lol. Tho imo Mage (any) > Rogue (DW) > Warrior (Champion) > Rogue (Archer) > Other Warriors. There's just something that feels so good about playing champion in this game and being practically undestructible without magic lol.

@@gzapray7203you are not alone in that minority, battle brother. My very first character in DAO was a two-hander warrior, a Human Noble that was always the first into the fray....and also always the first to be downed (at least, in the early levels). I agree, it was a frustrating experience at first, especially when i was also learning all the other mechanics and intricacies of the game as well. But I perservered, and slowly yet surely, grew stronger to match the horrors that crossed my mighty weapon. Then came the moment of glorious ascension: Level 16, when i had the two-hander tree maxed, the right amount of points dedicated to the Beserker and Champion specializations, and finally attained the strength necessary to don the Juggernauts plate. With his trusty Nug Crusher, he was now the stuff of nightmares to the darkspawn, who would wail in terror upon hearing his war cry: "I'LL CRUSH YOUR NUUUUUGS!" He was the lawful good sort, and sacrificed himself to deliver the killing blow to the Archdemon. He was born a survivor, lived a warrior, and died a hero. ....only to be brought back to life somehow when i began Awakening. Sadly, i lost that characters save when my hard drive got corrupted (was before Steam Cloud was a thing), And though ive moved on to enjoy subsequent playthroughs as other classes and origins (currently kicking all 21 flavors of ass as an Arcane Warrior Blood Mage), ill never forget the journey of blood, sweat, and tears I had with Mordin Cousland. Heh, still funny that its a statistic or peoples first time playing the game XD

- Good lord, I've been doing something wrong with my dual wield rogues on Origins, I haven't seen a 350 damage backstab. - In the DA2 section: shoutout to Anders and Merrill who can increase the damage of Assassinate to an insane level by making the target Brittle with Petrify, Winter's Grasp or Cone of Cold (careful with this one on Nightmare), sadly Bethany doesn't have access to the Primal tree. The Harvester read your tips in the Inquisition section of keeping on the move looking for prey and managed to survive longer than any boss in the entire video.

I'm going through DAI now as assassin rogue dual wield. I'm using a similar build to the one here, except I add in Hidden Blades instead of Evade. Also, my party I mostly use is completely different. Cassandra as my Tank - possibly going to build her as a boom tank. I just prefer her to Blackwall. Iron Bull just for fun, and he actually does fairly well as a second damage dealer with the build I gave him. Dorian, as my mage adds in Walking Bomb from the video, and I specced him very heavily into fire and spirit (support). He adds a lot of chaos to the battlefield when you combine his specialization with Fire.

Assassin in dai has always been my fav spec, I’m glad to see more ppl still playing it. If you haven’t already, I would encourage you to prime mob enemies with knockout bomb or powder before your hidden blades (especially with the no witnesses AoE upgrade) to get a pretty combo. It was the first game breaking combo I learned in the game and I even posted a vid on my channel abt it. Even though the game doesn’t tell you, it is a sort of precision detonator so you can get stronger combos on frozen, paralyzed and stunned enemies too! Have fun and good luck on your playthrough!

Suddenly I'm reminded of the characters Durzo Blint, and his apprentice; Kylar Stern from The Night Angel Trilogy. I don't know when I'll finally get around to playing these games again, but this is perfect for a roleplaying character I have. He's a master assassin who'd eventually mentor a group of young men and train them to be... I suppose the phrase would be Stealth Fighters? I'm still workshopping their name.

I'm surprised you didn't mentioned how overpowered additional Dual wielding talents from Awakening DLC. Low Blow/Twin Strikes + Unending flurry combo with 6 intensifying runes gives insane damage to a single target that you can effectively take out bosses in seconds even if you can't use backstab like with the mother, inferno golem. Another good combo is to have a warrior with full bar of stamina to use Unending flurry to keep bosses paralyzed and have the rogue go behind to combo backstabs. Dual wielding in awakening in overall has the best single target damage per second I think, even better than archery with Arcuracy

@AKisHerceg so I know these builds are all built for Nightmare across the three games but I'm curious, do you use trials in Inquisition? If so, which ones? Myself I like to use Take it Slow and Even Ground. I've tried Walk Softly and it's kinda cool but it makes the game too grindy for me. I feel like to survive that trial from start of the game I'd have to use Golden Nug or grind a ton of coin + mats to buy good schematics from the Black Emporium. Without those it's just too much. Anyways, curious if you use any trials as I'm not sure if I've seen you post about that elsewhere.
@AKisHerceg
@AKisHerceg Ай бұрын
I beat the game multiple times with all trials on as a challenge, with each class. Other than that I usually don't use them. They are good for a challenge here and there, but they make the game very slow and boring after a few playthroughs. Why would I insist on getting less xp for my kills for example? For some trinkets in the box? Usually when I play and create a build, I already know what I want and how to get it so the trials rewards also don't really serve much purpose to me.

Is going past 50-60% crit chance worth it? I mean, I feal like past that, unless you somehow reach 90-100 it's pretty much the same considering you're getting crits at least once every two hits. I ask because I was wondering if Coiled Strike was really that much better than say, the Barbarian Rock Crasher or the Blade of Red Birth schematics. With both you get about 55% crit chance however with the former you get a lot more Crit Damage % and with the latter a nice attack % boost (with this one your Crit Damage % stays the same as with Coiled Strike). EDIT: Nvm I think I answered my own question. Coiled strike will deal about 10% more damage than BoRB and 20% more damage than BRC. Thanks anyways, love the content!

Thanks so much for this. Been looking forward to this. I wanted to ask, I really wanna use Hidden Blade on the inquisition version of the assassin. Wow, awesome to see you still making DA vids! I’ve still never played the first 2 games, so I can’t speak to those builds-heck I barely get around to the third anymore. It was still fun to see your new approach to a daggers assassin inquisition build, though I’m fairly certain I’ve seen you deal much more damage as a rogue before than in this one… I seem to remember a certain tempest of yours dishing out a 93k deathblow 🤔 I am curious tho if you know whether the hood with 18 dex outweighs vitaar on qunari inquisitors. I’ve always assumed the base damage boost was better, but if I ever ran the numbers or was told, I’ve forgotten. Though I suppose it doesn’t matter if you are looking for an extra ability point from playing human (I’m still happy duping power amulets in the undercroft lol) Similarly, Do you find the damage from the dexterity Amulet more beneficial than something like a cooldown amulet, or for the sake of defense, Enhanced barrier or andraste’s Sacrifice as a split? I still am partial against having focus abilities equipped at all times due to how long they take to refuel (excepting during Trespasser). Speaking of chosen abilities, I’m a little surprised you left hidden blades off the wheel. It’s just such a broken ability. In its AoE form, it can of course rinse mobs, especially when paired with a knockout bomb or other primer like an antivan fire/stun grenade. Meanwhile, the single target can hit hard and rack up a good stack of pincushion while the masterwork is one hit less and still vs one target. It was honestly kinda impressive to see the dragon and boss kills without HB equipped tho. Always glad to see walking bomb and explode on kill-excellent ✨👌 masterworks-and lore wise, they seem to fit well under the concept of the master assassin, so I like your use of them here (obligatory *even if I still think Mind Blast is the most overpowered masterwork of all time* 😂). Anyhow, it’s nice to see you still pick inquisition up from time to time!
@AKisHerceg
@AKisHerceg Жыл бұрын
Nice to see you again Jordan! :) To be honest, I have no clue about that, because even though I have created dozens of characters, I have never made a qunari Inquisitor. My guess though is that the Vitaar wins. Dex is essentially a small Attack boost, once you max your crit dmg % which is around 190-210%. Since the game bases everything on your base dmg, I think your number would go higher with higher base dmg, than a small attack boost. But this is just me speculating. Amulet of Barrier: Oh, if you would only know how many people write to me on builds where I used it, saying that the build is lame because anything works with AoB. So now I tend to avoid placing it on my characters. Naturally, it works great with this build. :) Cooldown amulet: I did test this and I did not notice any significant difference so I ended up using the Dex one. AS: Well, even though my Assassin is pretty nimble, I don't think it's a good idea for me to Taunt enemies. As for stamina regen and cooldown: As I said with the CD amulet, I did not notice any significant difference, and since I almost always crit and I kill fast, Looked like it Hurt and Dance of Death takes care of my stamina regen. I dislike focus abilities, but MoTR is kind of an exception. Mostly because I feel that having it is part of being the Inquisitor. So somehow it always finds a way to my ability bar. That is exactly why I left out Hidden Blades. It is a mandatory pick for almost every Assassin, so I said: "Why not do something different this time?" Plus, I actually wanted the Inquisition build to resemble the previous two games' Assassins, where they don't have a skill like HB, so I made the decision to leave it out. In my opinion, it made the build more intense. You actually have to "dive into" the crowd, maneuver around, and keep staggering enemies instead of just smacking them with KB or AF and throwing HB on them. No doubt that is effective and fun, but this was definitely a fresh experience as an Assassin. To this day I have not found a single MB masterwork. I'm starting to think that it does not exist in my game...
@jordanwill7233
@jordanwill7233 Жыл бұрын
@@AKisHerceg totally see your points. And with a build using very short cooldown abilities (unlike HB), cooldown modifiers are pretty useless here. With the up close action though, I wonder if Knockout powder might be a nice addition as you can use it vs shields/blocking enemies and it pairs well with your detonators. Ig I’m also still stuck in the mindset of ensuring auto crits tho & if you have a decent crit chance like this it matters less. Still I find it a useful cc, but it might also step outside the bounds of this build with I get. I still find it so weird you’ve never gotten a mind blast masterwork! Like it is kinda rare for me, but racking up a few trial rewards and save farming the collection usually gets me one after a little effort. Sucks if your game really is that glitchy

@jordanwill7233
@jordanwill7233 Жыл бұрын
@@jackofminds8338 I hope you enjoy it! Herceg has excellent builds, so you can’t go wrong following this. Dual Artificer is a great time too tho! I think the last time I picked the game up, I was playing with the sleep powder and one shot mine to sleep/freeze/paralyze enemies before detonating them in constant combo cycles. The artificer does have that lovely feel of never having to pause for cooldowns, but I’m sure you’ll find enjoyment with the assassin too. The stealth auto crit passive is what imo sets it apart from feeling like regular rogue gameplay. Herceg’s build here doesn’t really go all out on it as their game gets a bit glitchy and doesn’t always guarantee a crit when it should. However, if the game runs smoothly, you can stack crit damage way high and get hits to deal massive damage out of stealth when you don’t have to invest in crit chance. I find it fun to make builds centered around auto crit passives like knife in the shadows and mercy killing. It makes combos on sleeping enemies a huge part of the gameplay too. Hitting 20k AoE combos is very doable with a variety of setups (and with consumables, there are ways to deal above 80k AoE!), and, as Herceg demonstrated, mark of death turns bosses that can’t be comboed into dust with style! If you ever want to know more tricks you can do with the assassin, lmk, or just look thru my other neurotic comments I annoy Herceg with lol I spend way too much time thinking about this game

@AKisHerceg
@AKisHerceg Ай бұрын
They should automatically aggro it, especially since activating it will instantly put you into Stealth. Early fights can be won by using Aveline with Bethany(or Anders once you have him). Bethany should have Healing and Barrier first and use it on Aveline. Aveline should just Taunt non-stop and keep Shield Defense and Turn the Blade up all the time. This way most of the time enemies will leave your rogue alone, so you can start taking them down one-by-one.

While you would have lost some damage, wouldn't it have been safer to put your points into Dex since dagger damage is still based of Dex? Then for Specializations Keep Assassin for Death Mark (Maybe Exploit Weakness) and then going Duelest for either more bonus to Hit/Defense, or perhaps even ranger to to make up for some of the damage lost as well as another distraction with your pet? I try not to question to much as you *clearly* know what you're doing to build a proper character - I'm mearly curious at this point because in the past I know you have advocated for Dex over Cunning before. Thanks!
@AKisHerceg
@AKisHerceg Жыл бұрын
I still advocate for Dex over Cunning for people who really want to build a safe rogue to play on Nightmare. However the damage superiority of a Cunning based Assassin is undeniable. This build was designed as a pure damager. Safety was not really a concern, because the build uses Stealth for that purpose. This is the best way to build a rogue if you want to go after raw damage. Daggers are half STR and half DEX based, so it does not worth it to invest into Dex if you go after damage. This is why a Dex rogue will never hit as hard as a Cunning one. You really need a huge amount of Cunning so that your sustainable skills can boost your damage to insane levels. Duelist would have taken away a lot of damage, since Song of Courage gives a massive boost to damage, attack and critical chance to the Assassin - and it is Cunning based. This is why it works so well with the Assassin. Summoning animals is not really what I had in mind for this build, especially since I had the whole Trilogy to think of and you can only do that in Origins. :)

I believe that some patches are disabling this ability. In the Ultimate Edition however, you can stack as many as you want. :)

On a side note...if you use the mod No Helmets shown, then you will have to have 20 strength or the mod will not work if the helm requires 20 strength and gear buffs for STR will not work with the mod

I’ve been playing this build I’m still on origins almost finished but was wondering if you had plans for the other warriors considering warrior is the only class to have 3 specializations carry over across the whole series I’d love to see a barbarian attempted or even a Templar Berserker gets mixed with the reaver in the later games so I don’t think that would be an issue

I’m curious that would it be better in DAI if we swap Shadow Strike with Hidden Blade ? Would Hidden Blade can produce more DPS than Shadow Strike ? Or is there something that I’m missing here ?
@AKisHerceg
@AKisHerceg Жыл бұрын
There are others who asked me this, so I will paste my answer here. :) "That is exactly why I left out Hidden Blades. You actually have to "dive into" the crowd, maneuver around, and keep staggering enemies instead of just smacking them with KB or AF and throw HB on them. No doubt that is effective and fun, but this was definitely a fresh experience as an Assassin."

Hello man i'm i again I really liked this building because I'm currently playing with two daggers, in my previous game I made your construction "The Slinger" and I really liked I'm very thief fan with two daggers So I'm sure I'll make this building taste very much to play with the companions of the game So I would like to know if with that construction I could play with Cassandra Viviane and Verrick in Party what do you think? @AKisHerceg
@AKisHerceg Жыл бұрын
These are the most important things to know before you start playing as a double dagger rogue: At the beginning you are squishy, but later on you will become unstoppable. Rogues can have the most damage by attacking from the back, so always position yourself behind the enemies. Backstabs are your bread and butter. It is basically an automatic critical hit. With Coup De Grace you can automatically backstab stunned enemies, so once you unlock this passive this will be your goal: stun enemies and keep backstabbing them. By boosting Cunning you can have insane damage, by boosting Dexterity, you will be near untouchable. Speed is very important, since the faster you are the more dps you have. Swift Salve and Momentum are very important. Momentum can be switched to Haste(from one of your mages) to save you stamina, but you won't be using much stamina anyways. Note that Momentum and Haste don't work together. :)

Man. Shadow Strike deals more dmg than Twin Fang?
@AKisHerceg
@AKisHerceg Жыл бұрын
That is debatable. I would say Twin Fangs will be on the same level if you do what I did and start with Throwing Blades first. Shadow Strike is much faster however, and I want that. It also staggers and it can knock down targets.

With the Inquisition dual wield assassin, it's not the ability Knife in the Shadows that is failing half the time, it's the fact that dagger abilities miss so often. If you miss, you automatically lose stamina and also stealth if you don't have Clinging Shadows, which unfortunately has its own issues making it a terrible upgrade to Stealth. This is the primary reason I hate DW assassin and much prefer assassin archer. Even Flank Attack misses too often for my taste. DW assassin is too easily left helpless out in the open. Anyway, I'm surprised you didn't even bother mentioning No Witnesses.
