They ran the trailers for this nonstop on kid networks like Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Saturday mornings cause they knew that would be the audience that would get a cheap laugh out of it, especially with that cringe fest Turtle joke. This movie came out when I was about 8, and I distinctly remember the advertising pushing two things as the movie’s draw 1: “Am I not turtle-y enough for the turtle club?” And 2: “I’m going to be the master of disguise! I’m going to be the master of disguise!” They thought that those two parts were the peak of comedy in their movie. And those parts weren’t even that funny.

my theory has always been that dana came up with that weird turtle-man character and had absolutely no idea what to do with it. like he wanted to do a sketch with this character but had no sketch, so i believe this whole movie was worked around that turtle man. I always said, the problem with this movie is that it's missing the straight man who gets annoyed by the main character's antics. That's what makes Spongebob work as comedy, because he has Squidward. 24 Geezy Even as a cartoon, the writing in the movie would still sucked. The kids and their parents in the audience deserved better better material than this. You want an actual GOOD family comedy entertainment that was made in the early 2000’s with actual GOOD cartoon humor, just watch “The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle”. Trust me, it’s fun, it’s actually FUNNY, it has clever writing, it has memorable characters with memorable performances by very talented actors such as Rene Russo, Jason Alexander and, yes, even Robert De Niro as the main villains, it’s a very underrated, very under-appreciated and very smart movie.

When this flick first came out in the theater, as Dana Carvey fans, my homeboy and I decided to go see this one, and we took our younger siblings to see it. In the first 10 minutes, we thought it was terrible, so we walked out and left our younger siblings watching it. My homeboy and I got refunded with a ticket to any other flick. So we waited in the theater lobby playing arcade games. Once the flick was done, we took our siblings home, then we went back and saw Martin Lawrence's Run Tell Dat with our refunded tickets, which was great. Master Of Disguise was the first time I ever walked out on a flick. Ha ha ha.

Even memorized and performed a full scene from this for my after school tutoring class. Yeah, I was dumb back then.

i remember seeing the trailer on tv. there would be a part where the voiceover says: dana carvey is _the master of disguise_ like it's an established character.... i was confused. now i realize it was just adults talking out their ass. dana carvey may be talented enough to pull off superficial impressions, but i guess he was never creative enough to invent enduring characters and stories

Behind the scenes trivia: they were shooting the turtle scene on the morning of September 11, 2001. News of the attacks reached the set, and they decided to hold a moment of silence, with Carvey standing there in that turtle suit.

I saw this movie when it came out and the only thing I remembered about it is Brent Spiner. Just like with a lot of these movies, like It's Pat, there is at least one memorable character. Dana Carvey recently lost his son. It was sad to hear, especially since he's dealt with a lot of pain in his life. I'll keep holding onto the positive memories he's given me in my childhood and teen years.

Watch the whole video later. Did find this movie a little hilarious. The Turtle Guy and the Who's Your Daddy moments are the highlights.
