I know it's been awhile since you guys posted this, but I have a question that I want to get your opinion on. I glued (using CA glue) two segments of the blade at a bit at an angle (like after I glued all the halves together and then was gluing each of the segments). I was thinking about using a soldering iron with a thin tip to try to melt a little inside the joint and then adjust. What do you suggest?
@make432 Жыл бұрын
Aww that is the worst - but we have heard of a trick (we have not personally attempted this) you might be able to correct the bend by submerging the whole piece in some hot water (just tap water, no need to boil it) then quickly placing the whole piece on a flat cool surface apply gentle pressure to correct - Best of Luck!
@Zimzode Жыл бұрын
@@make432 oh awesome! Thanks for the quick reply!

I am in the process of making one of these and was wondering if there are any additional tips on hot to hide the visible lines from the blade area. I have filled in and sanded multiple times and hit it with a coat or 2 of primer but they are still there. Whats the secret? Trial and error till perfect?
@make4322 жыл бұрын
Sadly it is just a lot of filling and sanding. Make sure when you sand you are keeping the paper flat - we fin using a block of wood with sandpaper attached keeps it level. It is also important that everything is really secured together with glue, otherwise the gaps could reopen. Best of luck!
@mightyheidi58573 жыл бұрын
I noticed when you put the two parts together the handle broke apart, any tips on how to prevent that?
@make4323 жыл бұрын
Good eye! Yes we were rushing our build a little and didn't spend enough time sanding our parts, meaning everything was just a little too snug. Spending a bit more time sanding and cleaning out that inner channel after printing should solve any splitting issues!

How long should the rod be
@make4323 жыл бұрын
We don't remember exactly but we had a 36" rod that we trimmed down to length, a 36" rod may work without trimming as it can go all the way to down the pommel!
@DatFunnyPerson3 жыл бұрын
I am going to start this Project too now. I have a question about the Rod. How long should it be? in cm I mean. 50? 100?

Hello. I’m wondering how long the threaded rod is? I’m almost done 3D printing mine and I’d like to know how long it should be incase I have to cut mine. Thank you ^^

You should be good with a standard 3 foot rod - you might just have to trim it a little to fit your print. Good luck, we would love to see the finished product!
@smashohh Жыл бұрын
how did you guys glue the rod in? did you pour the foaming glue in the sword 1st then insert the rod or did u glue the rod then stick it in?
@make432 Жыл бұрын
we coated the rod with the foaming glue then inserted it into the blade - However you can use a 2-part 5 minute epoxy for the same results without the mess.
@seck2008 Жыл бұрын
Same as you I love the result when using graphite to get the metallic finish. Does it need a protective layer on top after adding the powder in order for it to not degrade or is it enough to rub it on the surface?
@make432 Жыл бұрын
We have found that the surface is pretty durable, it might just need some more graphite later on.

Happy to have you join us and thanks for pushing us to 1000. We have found that the graphite is pretty durable and not much causes it to come off. The cake we cut at the end of the video is actually the only thing that seemed to remove it easily haha. But you can easily apply more graphite in the future if you do see some spots wearing down.
