Can't believe it's been 25 years already. I remember being in school and some of my friends went to the movies to see it and couldn't stop talking about it. I went the following weekend and had my mind blown. Years later ppl were still talking about the movie but only because of the sequels.

The Matrix is one of the most incredible films contributed to the history of cinema. From its philosophies, too its relevance to technology, the use of actual people before CGI took over its sequels and action cinema. This movie couldn't have come out at a better time. Right before Y2K and the technology revolution we are still going through today. I just wish the franchise delivered on the proposal that Neo made at the end of this movie. I thought as a kid that everyone would be freed from the Matrix and gain Neo's power of enlightenment and freedom. That we would finally see what our lives could be beyond the confines of human life. I was wrong, but still. The Matrix is still one of my most favorite films of all time and it deserves its place in the Library of Congress. May it be preserved, restored, and never remade. All future generations may look back on this movie as a meme, a joke, and scoff at it. They may even call it primitive, but the wise ones will know that this is a marker for the evolution of cinema and humanity's understanding of consciousness, technology, and the debate over free will.
